The OFP islands run a lot better. Â My PC specs are low so I sort of adore these lower quality islands. I'd like to see Saharani completely redone only in WRPEdit :P Can't wait for Nogova. I miss that island.

I was actually surprised to see how well the old buildings looked in the game. Â The detail textures still work which makes them look great, and the sun reflects off the windows too. Â Clipping works as well. Â Looks like BIS went the extra mile with compatibility.

    ArmA enjoyable

Well just a few days ago recently in Multiplayer, someone shot a rocket at my face and I just happened to lean out of the way where it zimmed past my face. Â Then I shot him. Â Then we both loled. Another cool thing was we were doing a Coop mission, where you basically start in the center of this dip and have tiny hills all around you. Over the hill is a city that you had to clear. We screwed up a bit and was pushed back into the dip by a few tanks. Little did we know, there were soldiers on the way as well. So basically we are in this scoop surrounded by mountains, and we had to hide behind rocks and pick of soldiers as they popped over the horizon. They were coming from all directions making it really tough. It was like something out of a movie. It's pretty amazing how the offensive can switch to the defensive in this game.

    Children?

I'd like to pop a few kids in the head, plant some bombs under them, hell - why not cluster some together and laser designate a couple bombs to drop on them? Â Of course I'm not going to do that while my baby cousins are watching, or fire a shotgun blast to a womans head while my wife looks on (if I had one), Â So whats the big deal? I really don't understand this whole issue with putting women and children in videogames. Â They are not REAL women and children. Â Perhaps it's best to get politically involved because we have real women and children dying over in Iraq. Â Stop worrying about a videogame. What I think women should find more offensive is that BIS has placed female voice selection in the Player info on the main screen, without any female faces. Â And, Armed Assault is not like GTA, where you can smash a woman across the face with a bat, have sex with a prostitute in the car and then shoot her with a rocket launcher when you're finished, or run her over with a tank, hop out and proceed to kick her corpse while she's on the ground. Sure it all sounds terrible, but when you're actually playing it, it's like nothing.

    ArmA Disappointing

The game is not for everyone, just as OFP was not for everyone. There is no game developer out there that can satisfy everyone. They set out to make a combat sim, many people ate it up, others went back to playing Battlefield. I'm not dissapointed by the game at all. But it was most certainly rushed out the door in time for the holidays in other countries loaded with some issues. The only thing I could be dissapointed with is the Campaign. It was a little too military for me. I liked the Resistance campaign with the pretty cutscenes and interesting storyline. We'll probably see an ArmA campaign like Resistance whenever the expansion comes out.

    complait to bis

I personally think it's the way every forum should be.
  12. I'm thinking of having the server dedicated to the old Flashpoint Islands using all the new Armed Assault stuff. A lot like having the Battlefield 1985 map only with Armed Assault stuff. I just want to see a show of hands, who would play on a server like this. Don't feel like signing up for a server that nobody will play on.

    SLX Desert Island Example

Update your game. Anyway... it's funny using this Island because it reminds me of the smooth frame rates I got playing Flashpoint :P I'm pretty sure now the Islands that came with ArmA are what is where most of the slow-down comes from. Can't wait for other OFP islands to make it in

    Any Star Wars mods?

Ive been in both Star Wars mods for OFP without many releases. Just a bunch of videos showing off awsome addons that never made to public by Acacyn and a few others. I was wanting to make all the addons for ArmA so that when ArmA came out, we'd have a release ready right on launch day when it came out. Unfortunately, not many of the team members were too excited about that idea. Which would make sense because BIS hasnt (go figure) released any of the addon tools yet. I'm no longer involved with the Star Wars mods now, so if you want an official answer you can go to the Galaxy at War mod. There has been very little, close to no activity in the Star Wars mod nowadays.
  15. Hello mod makers! Â With the release of Armed Assault finally here, I have a gift that will undoubtedly help you and your mod team manage and organize your projects with ease. Sidus Interactive has had the courtesy to provide Armed Assault mod makers with a licensed web application called Overlord, a Web 2.0 application for managing projects and team members. With advanced task management options, there will never be a question about what each team member's assignments and responsibilities are, or what their progress is; everyone can see exactly what's going on at any time by checking the project overview. Developers can stay focused on creating their game or mod, instead of constantly worrying about who's doing what, when it's going to be done, or what they are supposed to be doing. Communication is a snap with the built-in forum-style message system. Custom message categories for each project mean less clutter and confusion. Messages are stored on the site as long as you want, so you don't have to worry about losing any important information. And they can be tagged, making it easy to find them later. The file manager allows almost all assets to be kept on the site, organized into user-defined folders and tagged with keywords to make finding the right file as easy as possible. Files can also be attached to any item and can be commented on by any user. This is a free service we are providing you with, however we will be setting up a donations button so it can be easy for us to pay off the server and domain name. Features include: Milestones and Timelines Group your tasks into logical Milestones and create a timeline for your project by giving them deadlines and setting up dependencies. Task/Bug Management Overlord uses a simple interface to create, assign, and update tasks and bugs, allowing everyone to stay on track. File Manager with Attachments Each project can have custom folders for uploaded files, and any type of item in a project can have files attached to it. Communication The message system in Overlord works just like a forum, with categories, threads, and replies. All items can also be commented on, allowing quick and easy communication wherever it is needed. Organization With the tagging system and search, you can find anything on the site quickly. Whether you are looking for a particular file, task, message, or milestone, you'll be able to find it. RSS Feeds Overlord automatically maintains RSS feeds for all activity, each project's activity, and each user's assignments. ------- All you have to do is contact me: mark@sidusinteractive.com And provide the following information - 1. Your mod name (ArmAMM.com/YourModName) 2. Provide a valid E-Mail allowing us to contact you 3. Your preferred Username and password to login 4. A link to your mod's homepage (if any) Requirements - Other stuff 1. You must be creating an Armed Assault mod ONLY. Â We do not accept mods for other games. 2. When uploading a file, please don't just leave it there. Â When the file is no longer needed, delete it. Â Please be very conservative of your file upload usage. 3. Do NOT upload any files that do not directly relate to your project. Â This includes any personal photos or files of puppies and kittens, you making love to your wife, etc. Â We will be monitoring file upload usage. 4. You must be SERIOUSLY engaged in creating a mod for Armed Assault. Â We are limited to 20 databases, which means only 20 mod teams will have the privilege of having an account. Â If there is no activity on your page after 2 months the account will be deleted to make room for others. 5. By signing up and being allowed an account, you agree that you are a partner and member of the ArmA Mod Manager group. ----------------------------------------------------------- If you would like to play around with Overlord, feel free to play around with the demo located here: http://www.phpoverlord.com/demo/ Good luck, and happy modding! Here is a guide I put together to help mod makers get around using this more easilly. ---------------------------------------------- If you have sent an application to be and have been approved, we will send you all the information you need. To login, head to armamm.com/YourModName which will bring you to the login page. Â When you login, you'll be taken to the Main page. Everything here is pretty self explanatory. If you want to get your project into the system, click on PROJECTS at the top menu. Here you'll be asked to enter the information about your project. Name: YourModName Info: A description about your mod Tags: Keywords to easily search for your mod Once the project is created, click on it and it will bring you to the project page where most of your managing will be done. Here you can create milestones, tasks, checklists, bug reports, post messages and upload files. Milestones Is basically your entire project broken into smaller chunks. Â So perhaps Milestone 1 would be to get all the basics for your mod finished, Milestone 2 would be to get all the models finished, fully textured and fully operating ingame, Milestone 3 would be finishing all missions for your campaign, etc. To create a milestone, click Create Milestone. Enter whatever you want, and shazam! Â It will show up in the milestones tab. The same works for all the others. The cool thing is you can always check to see how far a task is from completion by clicking on your milestone, and viewing all the tasks for that milestone. These are just the basics really. Â It doesnt take too long to get used to using this. ------------------------------------------ For those of you who do sign up, your links will be www.armamm.com/YourModName
  16. JdB I wouldnt give up so fast on the mod just yet. Armed Assault had only been released in the U.S. this month, which is not nearly enough time to expect new members. I don't think you should just call it a wrap so easily. I'd at least keep it around and launch a recruitment campaign, it will take some time.

    Armed Assault mod manager

Hello Jerry, the demo site is not using one of our databases - but while 20 databases surely isnt many, we havent been getting any E-Mails for sign-up - infact only 1 so far. Our servers can withstand 1,200 GB a month (which could be more), but I'm almost certain we won't exceed that limit. Â If we ever do we'll be forced to upgrade. As for hosting, I wouldnt want to to go above 2GB in storage per mod. Â The uploading area is there to host unfinished files -example: A 3D model needs textures. Â Upload the 3D model for the texture artist to DL. It's not hosting files for public consumption - another reason why I'm not too concerned about the monthly transfer volume. Everyone who signs up I expect to keep everything internal, and not upload images of their dog and show it to friends. Â That happens pretty often when you give folks free file uploading when it's intended for something more specific. Your account is all set VXR, be sure to tell the folks here what you think of the tool

Quantum physics says goodbye to reality

In my time away from OFP and waiting for ArmA, I have done a ton of looking into metaphysics... and weird Quantum Mechanical stuff for more than a year now... as difficult as it may be to read and understand.... Do I think this world is a fake? Â Yes and No. Â I think higher dimensions are far more complicated which makes our dimension look comic-book. A few people I would suggest reading/watching is Jordan Maxwell and a guy named Michael Tsarion who have some pretty interesting things to say. Â Don't trust everything they say, but they show you proof of things. When I hear people like Richard Dawkins come out and say "There is almost certainly no god." Â I can't help but laugh. This guy thinks that with all our little man-made gizmos and measuring devices we can be almost certain there is no god. Â At the same bloody time they are pondering about a multiverse in which they cannot see or measure. Â Ohh but trust them it's out there. A great book having to deal with what I deem to be very important is DMT. If there is a drug that can get your life on track, end your serious addictions, become a better person and live life completely happy and insightful, we're going to make it a U.S. Schedule 1 illegal drug. Then we're going to put Zoloft and all this other crap on the market which makes people murder each other. This thing we call life and Earth is not understandable, the more you think you know, the more you don't know. Here is a good video on Atlantis - http://video.google.com/videopl....tlantis I could go on and on. Â Sure things don't look great here on Earth. Â All I care about is what happens after we die, and so far I have read some good news about that. Unfortuantely it's more complicated than that... and... a lot... weirder. Do a google Video search for the Double Slit experiment. ohh and then there is Schrodinger's cat which you have to read a few times to understand what da FAHCK is going on.
  19. I went to the EBGames store down the street from me. Â Did not see it on the shelves; "Do you have Armed Assault?" "What what?" "Armed Assault. Â Or ArmA Combat Operations is another way to say it." She checked the computer and they had none in stock (even when their website said they did) Ehh, so screw it. Â I just came home and downloaded it from Atari's website. Â To hell with stores.

What do expect you have put it in the squads/fanpages. Didnt want to take my chances putting it in ArmA mods area, you know how they can be I guess I'll make a thread there and take my chances. Â Hell it may even make it to sticky.

    Where's OFPEC?

You guys seem to be having alot of problems all through OFP history... Â If I had to, I'd honestly suggest 1and1.com for web hosting. They are having a special right now where it's 15 bucks a month for 300 GB of webspace and 3,000 GB of monthly transfer volume (not sure how much you guys go through a month on average) Plus you get the usual MySQL databases and all that other fun stuff. Even if things are settled now I guess it's worth posting for folks who may want to setup their own fansite or squad site.

    Will you still play ArmA?

If that's an actual screenshot Codemasters has there, I'm sorry but that's really impressive. Never seen foliage like that before.
