  1. Hi, im wondering if anyone has a similar rig as mine, and what kinda results they have with Arma 2.

    And is it even playable with this spec ???

    I havent upgraded my system for about a year as i have mostly been playing on my xbox 360 and ps3.

    so....

    AMD Athlon 64 x2 4200+

    2gb DDR2 RAM (soon to be 3gb)

    Nvidia Geforce 7900 GS 256mb

    Windows XP Home SP3

    I can play Arma 1 mostly on medium settings currently. I kinda know already i will have to upgrade somewhere/ some time...

    They seemed adament that the 26th was the release date until I pointed out that they had written an article with the 19th of june on their website!!

    Yes nice one mate.

    GAME are pretty good with pre orders too. Most of the time, the games I have pre ordered from them have arrived on the release date or a day before.


  3. To use more than 4GB+ of system memory you'll need Windows XP 64 Bit, cause the 32 Bit version of Windows only recognizes around 3.2 to 3.5 GB of RAM. Anyhow, as long as you have around 3GB of RAM you're fine. My laptop has a 2nd LCD screen that informs me of my computers resources and while playing ArmA 2 RAM is usually around 70% and this is under Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit SP2 which is more resource hungry than Windows XP.

    I guess i will just buy a 1GB stick of Ram and upgrade to 3GB's total.

  4. Basicly I am now confused about the release date for the Uk version of Arma 2.

    I was led to believe that the release date is the 19th June, after reading the forums. However after pre ordering online, at GAME uk, i recieved an email stating the game would now be available on the 26th June instead. I emailed them back to clarify this, and they have replied to me that it is correct.

    But places like Amazon uk and Play.com are still advertising the game for a release date on the 19th June.

    Im confused , can anyone explain to me when the uk version will be available for certain? do we have any official news on this?

  5. I have noticed that there is a problem for the Resistance AI squads when they are spawned near water.

    Quite a few times on various servers, I have entered a new town, to witness many squads without weapons. I assume they lost their way trying to cross bridges and lost their weapons in the water.

    This does not present any challenge at all to the East or West sides when trying to cap a town. They may aswell not be there.

    Wouldnt it be better in this case to prevent the loss of weapons in water, due to the poor AI path finding?


  6. They have already had mass beta testing for OFP and Arma. Yet despite that, and the tons of feedback on these forums, they still have bugs to fix, and requested features missing from the game.

    I dont mind speaking out aloud and say i have little faith the new game will be that much better than the current Arma and bug free from the start. I hope im proven wrong.

    In my opinion they are better off employing more of the talented individuals from the community to design and build a game worthy of our expectations.

    The public addon makers and mission designers we have at large, are very talented. And at least they seem to have more 'passion' about the game and getting things 'right' from the start.

    But yeah bring on the mass beta testing....again crazy_o.gif

    Yes this is a bug in 1.12 i think. Never tested in 1.11 or remember how it was. But in 1.12 you have to go to drivers slot and from there you can command properly. Driver slot - press "F" to change gunners weapons. And also make all other orders from the driver slot as well. Order formation etc from commander slot will not work. Needs to be fixed.

    You can change the gunners weapons when in the command position, i think, by pressing the space bar, then pressing F. Im not sure how you change the ammo though.


  8. Just watched the latest vids, and im not impressed much at all. I realise its WIP and dodgy camera footage,but there is nothing really to get excited about just yet, based on those vids.

    Looks rather bland as if they have added a generic 'Stalker' visual filter to the current Arma game. Just to try make the game more gritty. But im afraid it doesnt mask the flaws in the Arma engine.

    The animations appear to be the same, ie rubbish.  

    On the positive side i saw an Osprey and Raptor i think. yay.gif But i guess we will have those sooner or later in Arma anyway.

    I hope they improve Arma 2 vastly to what we have seen so far.    wink_o.gif

    A multitude of civillian boats.

    A mountain bike.

    Something like a Sports Stadium/arena would be pretty cool. As seen in the old DFBHD game.

    A  castle/fort thats very usable and different from the ingame offering.

    Hot air balloon wink_o.gif

    Pipelines.

  10. My feedback on 1.12b

    Pretty cool so far. I hated the 1.11b, had many crashes.

    This is more stable for me than the previous 1.11 beta. Textures seem to run smooth, no slow loading like in 1.11b.

    I notice that an increase in slowdown on MP, which seems to happen on JIP, but not every server...

    Im not to sure about the new FOV yet, seems too different and 'arcadey' for me, maybe the FPS has improved though.

    2GB DDR2 Ram

    NVIDIA ASUS7900GS 256mb

    ASUS M2V Motherboard

    160 HD

    Crappy creative sound card (no EAX)

    XP Home

    Most of my ingame setting are on normal and high. View distance is about half or under. But im going to continue to fiddle about with the settings, to get the best visual and performance i can.

  11. Hmm ok, sorry to hear others have the same problem.

    But its frustrating because i have carried out the installation as per instructions given in the read me files.

    Yet there are conflicting reports on how everyone has installed this patch to get it too work.

    Is there a quick fix for this? or does it means a complete reinstall from scratch?

  12. Hi, thanks for the tutorial.

    But im struggling, and i wonder if anyone can help.

    (If i may, im refering to part 4 of the pdf tutorials, and using the provided downloaded files as an example, to work through).

    Im having trouble with buldozer it seems. I have followed the steps to the letter. I haved saved the pew file etc.

    However im not seeing anything , other than a small box, half submerged in water, when i open it up in buldozer. No land mass or spikes as shown in the tutorial huh.gif  .

    Any help would be much appreciated tounge2.gif
