Its going to be a big worry to those companies/countires who have any interests with the new Caspian Sea pipeline which is apparently going to be placed there...I wonder who they could be?

I totally agree with you there my friend. HD2 is much better than Call Of Duty. I have finished COD within the same weekend I bought it, and will probably trade it in for something else with more longevity. To me COD felt like a bonus pack of missions for MOH saga/farce. The combined stories of the American , British and Russian actions during the war, didnt gel together to make it feel like a campaign for the mad dash to Berlin to overthrow the Nazis. I cant comment much on the COD multiplayer side of things yet, havent had time as I am playing HD2 online too much. I dont think COD brought anything relatively new to the WW2 FPS genre as a whole, and was a disapointment. However the Russian Missions are its only saving grace. Its a shame the whole of COD couldnt of been based on the Russian perspective of the war, far more interesting than the American and British missions that were represented in the game. Most of the missions incidently were based around destroying flak cannons or artillery, it got so repetitive and boring I didnt take any interest until my comrades flew the flag over the Reichstag, but sadly that was the end of the game...

I was dispointed after I saw Revolutions yesterday. I thought they kind of milked the story right to the end to justify a third film. Indeed the effects were ok but over used, the acting and script got progressively poor, the story lost its self up its own backside, which is sad because I really enjoyed the first film. They could of edited Revolutions down to 30 minutes, and added it on to the end of the second film , Reloaded, and ended the story there, it would of made a very good sequel to the original then IMO.

I loved the original despite the bugs, HD2 I feel is exactly the same...... an entertaining, immersive game, but with bugs. The essence of HD is still there, a sense of being in some old WW2 movie with a lot of cheesy voice acting, I love it. The different amount of options when selecting the right kit before and during the mission is what many T/FPS games miss out on, and makes HD2 stand out. The ability to micro manage your team really adds to the playability. There are better graphics, quality animations, lush maps, and improved AI. The multiplayer maps are very good, no co-op though. The AI is sometimes remarkable, but other times plain stupid, its a pure contradiction sometimes, and with the various other bugs combined its a little frustrating to say the least. Hopefully the patch due to be released anytime soon, will correct these problems. I still wonder why a game with alot of potential thats been in 'development' for so long( 4 years?), is released to the buying public with these frustrating bugs. Despite these negative aspects , I still recommend this game to any OFP player.

Some members of 21st Special Air Service Regiment (Artists) (Volunteers) and 23rd SAS were also were rumored to have deployed to Afghanistan in support of the 22 SAS. I dont see how this can degrade the idea of having SF. Due to operational comittments around the world man power is going to be strained. Im pretty confident no country would send some reservist couch potato, lard arse into a situation they wouldnt be deemed suitable for. Also regards the infamous order of the removal of the beards. This order was apparently given by a 'conventional Army' US General who took over the operations in Afghanistan. He was a bit perturbed by the TV footage being shown of some fat geezer with a beard who the media assumed was SF, but in fact wasnt. He thought it was giving the US Forces a bad image, so promptly gave the order to remove beards.

Nice idea for an add on, I would like to see these units made. Credit where credit is due, these guys where at the sharp end in the 'war on terror' in Afghanistan. I saw a programme on the BBC recently documenting a Green Beret unit  post 'Task Force Dagger',in Afghanistan. Most of these guys had civillain jobs, and where part timers, but ex SOF. One was even claimed to be a NASA scientist! Anyone interested in making these units or using them in missions might find inspiration in a book called Task Force Dagger-The Hunt for Bin laden. by Robin Moore. Its reveals some SOPS of the Green Berets, but perhaps take some of the stories with a pinch of salt, a good read none the less.

Nice desert units guys, hope you can see your way into making some green DPM units also. It looks promising so far I must say, so good luck with the MOD!

I think the new position for the helmet just doesnt work well at all, im sorry to say,the different animations for the arms holding weapons etc would surely cut into it and it would look crap. Please consider placing it on the back of the unit somewhere. By the way do you have a RTO unit? Cheers.

Regards animals, maybe a camel , one hump or two that spits at you occaisonaly, be kind of bizzare to witness a camel train 'accidently' walk into your fields of fire when your in the middle of a fire fight in a MP game , utter carnage I predict I really think we need a swimming animation sorted though, thats been a major thing missing since the begining...

Very nice units indeed, the camouflage textures are very cool. The bayonets shown on the weapons are they fixed? or have you the option in the 'action menu' to remove or add them as you please?

lol Frenchman that was me on the roof , and yes I was amazed i survived too I emptied a whole RPD mag into your little bird as you flew over head, you pulled it around 360 then flew straight at me head on, respect! But many weird things were happening in those games last night, but lots of fun anyhoo. I will be back to that server for sure, so you can get your revenge

Many thanks to everyone at BAS for a great add on. Your attention to detail is admired and appreciated. I liked everything about this map and OPFOR , I particualry liked the music and sounds included, they gave the missions a real African flavour and atmosphere. It took my 56k modem just over 8 hours to download it, but the poor little bugger somehow managed it! in any case it was well worth it Cheers

No I wouldnt pay for any add-ons. I download new add-ons virtually every week. Some like the BAS stuff always stays in my add ons folder, but most stay there for about a  week, then when I have had my fun with them,  they are erased or stored on a cd-rom to collect dust. With all due respect the 'current BAS stuff' will be superceeded as the 'darling add-ons' of the communty eventually, either by BAS themselves or by another existing, or upcomming mod team. My point is that why pay for a good add-on that only gets used  a few times a month because of the lack of fantastic well made missions to do them justice. As a community we should also be praising and encouraging the few (IMO) talented missions makers out there to create fabulous new missions. Add-on makers get a raw deal sometimes? yes they do, but so do the missions makers out there.... If Mods teams start thinking or wanting to charge money for their add-ons,  then they should seriously consider getting out of OFP all together and make a new whole game from scratch, then we will see how good you are, and then maybe we would pay you, only if it was good of course and we can make add ons for it Â

why make things difficult for yourselves, if you have software that requires a key code when you instal it, write it on the cd rom using a permanent marker pen. I do it to most of my software as a back up in case the manual or cd box goes missing..... There is no excuse for losing the key codes, its quite right people should be charged for a replacement one.

Bas island - working title "lost island"
ZIKAN replied to Tigershark_BAS's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
The island is looking amazing guys We appreciate your attention to details! I like the telephone wires/poles alongside the road in that one pic. Will the wires present a problem for human or AI helo's? By that I mean are the wires going to be a solid object, in which they need to be avoided when flying that low? -
Nice idea, the camera could fit into the Binocular or NVG's slot and the pictures taken probably stored in some folder in the OFP directory to view later outside  the game, or even on some of the  pages as a Photo Album in the mission briefing  pages Â

Quality add on  Well whos going to make a 'Taxi Driver' Mission.......lol "Yeah. Huh? Huh? Huh? (I'm) faster than you, you f--kin' son of a...I saw you comin', you f--k, s--t-heel. I'm standin' here. You make the move. You make the move. It's your move. (He draws his gun from his concealed forearm holster.) Don't try it, you f--ker. You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? (He turns around to look behind him.) Well, who the hell else are you talkin' to? You talkin' to me? Well, I'm the only one here. Who the f--k do you think you're talkin' to? Oh yeah? Huh? OK. (He whips out his gun again.) Huh?" Â

I agree he is Russian and from an OMON unit. The reason he has Special Forces in English is probably because the MAKS 2003 attracts alot of people from other countries who dont speak Russian, its there for their benefit

Check out the 5 minute trailer here:www.stalker-game.com and for more information/ screen shots of the game. Basicly its a FPS/RPG set in  the Year 2010 after an explosion in the area of Chenobyl who's epicenter was a kilometre away from the nuclear plant, releases radioactivity into the area on the April 12, 2006, 02:33 p.m. people, animals and forests perished, civillians evacuated from their homes,  Halflife anyone? Anyway the trailer and screen shots look impressive, with an abundance of atmosphere and impressive looking animations and weapon models

Are there any other user friendly programmes apart from 'Fraps' to record in game footage? I have had a various degree of success in using the free version of Fraps, is there anything better and also that is FREEWARE?

Cameras like these are open to abuse by the people using them, period. A friend of mine who used to work as a security guard in a well known department store (uk) told me how his colleagues would use the camera to play a game of 'babe or minger', I leave it to your imagination to guess how that was played! The guilty parties were all forced to quit after the management soon found out after. By the way most of the theft from department stores and shops, is infact carried out by the employees, as opposed to the general public who shop there. I believe CCTV is a deterrant, but you want to be confident in knowing that there is someone watching those, who are watching you...

Apparently this guy was born in India, but has British citizenship. He traveled to St Petersburg, Russia and got aquainted with some guy posing as an Russian army officer but who was in fact a member of the FSB. Whats worrying is that  Russian, American and British defence experts, make claims that these types of weapons are regulary sort by dealers and terrorists, and there are many military people with access to them, that are willing  to hand them over  for a bribe. Approximately 400+ Stinger missiles were shipped to Afghanistan to help the Mujahadeen fight the Soviet Army. Yet even today, after all that time,  they pose a  bigger threat to the very  people who originaly sent them. It seems flights from the UK to Saudi Arabia have been suspended because of a new security threat there....

I would like to see a 'shanty town' made, from a third world country. The kind of buildings that refugees would live in. They frequently appear around larger cities and are made of bits or corrugated iron, wood and plastic sheets and other waste items. I think you get the idea. Something like this would be usefull to people making missions in the thirdworld, such as Africa, Middle East etc

Maybe the answer to satisfy both those parties that are pro or against self healing is to have it so that if you self heal it can only be done to give you about 80% of health back. Each and every time there after, the effectives of the self heal is reduced by 20% until it gets to zero and you are then dead and sent home to momma in a bag. Evis is right in what he says about real units carrying out first aid on themselves and their buddies, but their effectiveness is some what degraded by being wounded, can we make it such in OFP? I must agree that to have units that can self heal and others that cant even if both are SF and are pretty much balanced in real life, it is not good for us who like to mix add ons together when making missions, the debate on who can do what and who can do it better will go on for ever but the only alternative is to get mod teams to co operate and to make add ons with a few commmon rules and factors each should implement to make for a better game using amazing add ons.
