Yes its a very good representation of a M109, but i think it needs to have the direct fire option. These 'buggers' do have the capacity to engage tanks in a 'anti tank scenario'. But to lower the barrel they need to fold down the barrel support onto the deck of the engine. Maybe there is too much swing left and right also.I dont like the aiming reticle for the gunner, i think it should be a vertical bar gradutated in meteres (like the commanders view),(x5,x10 etc), not a AA aiming sight. As for the shell being overpowered, yes it is slightly, but in Artillery terms a near miss is considered a direct hit, and a couple of 155 shells are devastating when grouped together. Infantry have no chance if its an air burst. Some of the textures didnt show when i zooomed out and revolved around it. I wish that AI would lock on to your choosen target and fire at it until told to stop, maybe we need a script or something for that. But it would be nice if you didnt need a direct line of sight to fire and could shoot over hills and woods and engage an area blind except for the radar at the top of the screen. Maybe give a grid reference by a spotter and the AI will pound away until its told to stop. This add on really rocks!

Falklands war mortar and royal marine models
ZIKAN replied to Morph's topic in ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Wow those screen shots are amazing Ash. Its nice to see alot of attention to detail has gone in to making these as realistic as possible. I think the GS Bergen is spot on! (brings back painful memories tabbing with it) If i have to criticise it would be i think you have made the Starlight Scope a little too big , and perhaps the L34AI is a little too long also. But good work guys! -
Ok from my experience, 'Peace Keeping missions' actually do enhance your soldiering skills. Peace keeping is a term which i think some of you guys who have never served or have only just passed basic training dont realy understand what benefits it can provide and give you. It adds to your soldiering skills, it takes nothing away because as a professional soldier you know you can never know too much, and be skilled in another aspect of soldiering is surely a good thing. Every day is a school day, you can always learn something to make your a more adept soldier. Im sure your country wants inteligent, mature, quick thinking, professional soldiers, not bumbling, rambo, gung ho, idiots who think war is fun, because it aint. Being a soldier is not just about killing , look on the flip side of the coin and you may also see that you can actually save lives also.

I think as the world is now constantly changing politicly, there is a real need to radicaly change the way NATO operates, or form the so called 'European Army' with America playing its useful part alongside, to cut through the red tape it had thrown up when peoples lifes were at stake. For example look at Bosnia and the Kosovo crisis, many hundreds of thousands of innocents were murdered or made homeless, it was well known what happened, but because of bureaucratic descisions made in the upper echlons of NATO and the UN, it sat on its arse debating things when it should of been putting troops on the ground as soon as it could to save these people from genocide. Also when the armies of Europe and America where there, they had to refer back to NATO for approval and clearance to carry out certain actions that needed to be carried out right away, wasting time and ultimately the lives of people. Of course in incidents like this, soldiers need to adhere to 'Rules of engagement' and of course know what their mission is and what they can and what they can not do, but there needs to be a better way in cutting through all of the bullshit and politics and save lives, which is what sadly NATO was responsible for in some well documented cases.

I would also like to see some Chechen rebel units made, perhaps some Mujahadeen also for the resisitance sides and any African militia groups out there. I guess 'East' doesnt have to be Russian, why not China, Korea, India, Iran, Pakistan, Japan, Arab Countries and Indonesia etc etc... Im so bored of seeing American units versus Soviet ones, its about time we diversify OFP and not get stuck with the stereotypes of 'russkies v yanks', OFP has so much potential and longevity...lets use it. So any other add ons from other conflicts would be a welcome breath of fresh air. The 'NAM pack' and the two 'Falklands War' mods are the only things right now keeping me interested in OFP.

Im not suggesting anyone take Mcnabs book as the truth nor any other book written by members of B20. For sure there are many inconsistencies in all the books. But lets take them for what they are....books , not official reports...If they were official, then yes we could probably point a finger at them and criticise. Mc nabb pissed alot of people off with that book he wrote, i wont argue, but im sure he had his reasons which was probably to make lots of money, so what? Embelish an already amazing story to an even more amazing one to sell a few more books? He is not the first and for sure he wont be the last.... The guy went through capture and torture and members of his team were killed. No matter what he said in a book for the paying public to read, he still deserves some respect for what they went through. But yes it is shitty he bad mouthed a dead comrade, if thats the case of what he has been accused of by his fellow B20 comrades. I bought the book and read it, but i took it with a pinch of salt like i do with anything else i read or see, dont you? At the 'Official' debrief in front of most of 22 SAS members most of the 'fiction' he said in the book was never mentioned or recorded as matter of fact.....and undoubtedly that version of events is more credible than some books that you guys are basing your opinions on men that got captured, tortured and killed....
-
I dont think its fair for any 'arm-chair rambos' out there to to knock Mcnab and the rest of Bravo Two Zero. Alot of your opinions are based on other peoples thoughts who may have a chip on their shoulder anyway. The truth is, we will never really know what happened and what did not, thats the way things are. No SAS soldier can or will tell the whole truth about his service. There is always going to be differences in opinion between a unit leader and the men under his command on how well the mission in hand is going. Squaddies always bitch even in the SAS, its normal, its human. The 'Eye of The Storm' by Peter Ratcliffe DCM is a good read, and im more inclined to believe what is in his book than any other. Sensationalism sells, and it sold alot of books for these guys, i wouldnt begrudge them that, after all they were there, we were not.

A few things that amuse me: The SUSAT site should be the same colour as the rest of the metal work, matt black. Also the eye piece on the SUSAT is too long you need to take at least 1/3rd of the length. The glass optics do not shine red like you have made it. You have put a 'iron foresight' on the front which looks like its from a HK which makes it highly unrealistic and silly. You dont have iron sights with Optics like the SUSAT as they obscure the view through the optics. I speak from experience of using this gat and I dont mean to mock you, but it isnt realistic using rainbow colours and i have seen better made already. If anything it looks like a customised toy for kids.

Yes someone please make a Mountain Bike. I used to race them a few years ago, I still have my trusty hardtail an old GT Zaskar It would be nice to see some sexy aluminium/carbon fibre/titanium bikes to play with. Anyone whos been  to a military camp will see squaddies roaming about on Mountian Bikes, especially the PT instructors lol In the BHD film the operator used one to extract to the Helo pick up at the start of the film. The mountain bike in my opinion is the ultimate stealth land vehicle Â

Yeah i checked the speed, max 22 knots you are quite right 'Spit' Its a bit of a sea slug then! But for OFP i think the speed should be bumped up a little, when its driven by AI it travels so slow.
-
Can anyone get over a  speed of 38? I feel its a little slow, but the turning radius is propbably right for the size. It would be nice if there were some better textures in the aft room with windows that looks over the helo pads at the back. Perhaps a mounted MG on the roof @ the back also would be a good. LOL i had 3 Su-25 attack the ship when its in the harbour on Nogova, They dived bombed and fired rockets and it just looked like the footage of the Falklands war standing on the bank trying to shoot them down with stingers .

I got up the first staircase to deck 2 but when I got to the staircase to deck 3 I fell through the floor.<span id='postcolor'> If you land on nearest helo pad to the main structure you should be ok, select auto hover and bring it down slowly.
-
Tracer i really like this ship, but some problems i found: You cant kill the AI driver of the ship, I was a east unit, i landed on the back with a Mil-24 then raced up to the bridge and no matter what i did i couldnt kill the guy standing at the control panel by the window, i stood behind him and shot. Also i tried to snipe him from outside,by shooting through the glass. Now maybe the glass is armoured on these ships or maybe its a bug in the model that might of been overlooked. I couldnt get AI to follow me through the ship, which i think is a OFP problem anyway. But in any case its hard to place them in different locations in the ship. But hey, i love it!

It all depends on where the damage is taken. A direct hit would surely take down those choppers. In those cases you have stated, they were lucky not to of been bought down because they didnt hit any vital stuff. 'Stingers' target the heat source, which would be the engine vents etc this is not easy to protect with armour. Above and around the engine are the rotars. Any damage to the rotars also would be catastrophic for any helicopter. A chance hit by an RPG into the main bulk of the body would more than likely bring it down also. You are wrong to think that double the size equates to more armour and protection of a machine. Nice model, I look forward to shooting it down

That Bren is ok, a little rough around the edges though. But the maker got the scale right. The sights are wrong but its a good model on the whole.

Campana de malvinas and falklands war
ZIKAN replied to Antichrist's topic in ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Both mods look very cool indeed, i will surely be downloading both. I wonder if you will be using pop music from the 80's era to enhance the feeling of those times in a mission perhaps? (like the vietnam mod/missions have) I think it would be a cool feature if both mods could do this.
