Bring back driving and cursor as in OFP

OFP's was much much better. You now are forced to drive with keyboard turning ... BIS will destroy our fingers. :-(
  3. I'm a first hour ofp fan. Today i will not play arma, but instead play ofp coop. Arma is like playing ofp in a laggy Oblivionworld ( i have p4 3.2Ghz, 1GB ram, GF6800GT 256 and play it at everything low) Most of the time my ofp even looks better then arma. In ofp i can actually prone and see something. I just hope that BIS will fix most bugs, because else it will mean an end to our fantastic community as people will drift to other games sooner or later. I find this hard to say, but i think i even like BF2 better then the current state of Arma. All of us must have memories of coops where u get in a chopper and some lame noob crashes it after flying 4 minutes to target killing all players. The current state of chopper controls is so bad that guy doesn't even have to be a noob anymore :-) Nevertheless i trust Bis will solve the problems.

    First ARMA impressions

I've been testing it too for about a day now. Infantry controls take getting used to but they are quite good i think. Infantry ai is way better then ofp's. (eg I shot a soldier down street, his buddy ran back to corner and actually waited me coming down street aiming for corner) I find myself getting shot up a lot! Some fun and very fixable animation bugs can be seen (i had my soldier swimming on the beach etc... rofl) The grass is a complete utter useless bitch. (laying down becomes completly useless and when u get shot in leg u get a mental attack of only seeing shitty grass leaves) Could be great if only it where a bit shorter! In real life when u lie down in grass you see a lot more then in arma. An option to disable grass completely would be great. I find myself laying down on streets so i don't have the f****ng grass in my fov. The sonic snaps as you get shot at are very very cool. I totally agree on the chopper part: choppers are worthless crashhazards in arma at the moment. Planes are much better in Arma then in OFP. (lets hope the problem doesn't reverse, good planes, bad choppers rofl) Arma is shaping up, but it'll be like ofp i guess, the best will come after a gazillion patches. In the end we got what we wanted: we were yelling GIVE IT TOO US, GIVE IT TOO US. So thats what they did :-) It's a pity they'll get reviewed on the current state. Anyway BIS, we still love you don't give up on this great game.

    Destructive Buildings

Something relating to Game2? A competition to win a visit and tour of the BIS offices? A new BIS website? Announcement that BIS has been bought out by EA? Maybe an anouncement that they made their own "STEAM" network thingy, to avoid publishers all the way. EA
  6. *The original survived my win ME, win2k and winXP installs. Lets all hope it won't survive my Vista install. Bis we all love you, gaming would be a boring drag without you. DON'T GIVE IN!!

    Coop Campaign

If you really want have more then 2 people, just open the campaign pbo, edit the missions and trow some extra playable people in, pbo the whole thing back, and play! Â I will do that, of course, but i don't wan't stupid people to think ArmA is stupid because they can only play the campaign coop with 2.

    Coop Campaign

I'm guessing the 2 people limitation only has to do with some missions being built for 2 sneaky SF-guys. Please Bis: Let us have the opportunity to skip these missions when we try a say 6 person coop! :-)

    Marketing for Armed Assault

Everywhere I go, every minute of the day, as soon as the topic of any conversation is "pc-games" I sell Flashpoint/ArmA preacher-style! I bet I'm allready responsible for at least 100 copies of OFP-Gold being sold. BIS I'm responsible for 1/10000th of your Flashpoint sales!!! Now gimme some more movies and a demo, I got some convincing to do!! *walks on the street, stops total stranger* "You have a pc sir?" "Yes" "You play games sir?" "Yes" ...

    Multiplayer

does that mean we can assume that they are looking for a natural and realistic way to implemente JIP(join in progress) for Multiplayer? or ... what? Â Or he was just babbling along filling air with words The only thing i didn't like in Multiplayer ofp is that on veteren mode, when you give multiple players a waypoint, it doesn't appear, making them totally useless unless you want to take the efford of selecting single players and giving them waypoints.

    GameSpot's E3 2006 impression.

OMG i never capped towns in BF2, a bunker or a building at the most, but i think the mere scale of good old OFP allready blew away that BF2 stuff

    Armed Assault Video E3 Presentation

-HAHA that journalist was an absolute counterstrike noob, trying to shoot 20 shots without ANY compensation. -HAHA i also bet he was indeed shooting his OWN SIDE. This combined with easy skill level (could it be that they weren't in "stealth or danger mode" yet because they didn't reach the waypoint that sets them to this mode, nor do they expect a teammate to start shooting at them, which would also explain why they only started to react after he shot a couple of guys) -Every OFP-noob i ever saw makes the very mistakes this guy makes: no compensation/ shooting own side => I don't think this video says anything relevant about stuff like ai-pathfinding, ai-attack coördination, etc etc I think it looked good. And it drove away my framerate-shivers
  13. Why can't a decent company like BIS get the credit they deserve in the media!! I find it godforsaken that there are allmost NO reviews of ArmA pouring out of that marketing-goo called E3. For crying out loud, they are about the ONLY company that made a game that lasts you years and years, yet the media is full of retarted stuff like BF 2150 or Quake 300 or GTA San Retordas or the likes. I find it horrifying that ALL the people I've shown this E3 arma-trailer go drewling over it and want to play it now, but somehow THEY NEVER HEARD OF IT! When you ask what games they are looking forward to, you allways get the marketing-goo splattered in your face. Please BIS: *DON'T SELL OUT *KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK *DON'T FORGET WE LOVE YOU As soon as we get a demo of your next beauty, i'll start my personal promotion campaign for it. I suggest the whole community do the same. Let's show the world that quality can beat marketing!
  14. Hi nice BIS-persons that gave us the Game Of Games! I know this sounds silly, but i'm trying to market our beloved game to some friends of mine. It's a very hard job: I have: -a couple of screenshots -high hopes -a definite belief that Those Who Brought Us OFP are holy people that shalt not fail us They are: -smart guys with good pc's -having loads of games thrown at them -fans of most games that have guns -very critical -a bit lame for having to admit 'I can't do in gameX what i'm doing here in OFP but I just think the graphics are a bit oldish' I need: -a small, simple good trailer showing off new engine You win: -the hearts of new dedicated players (and their cash) -my cash -acknowledgement of the fact that you are the Only Good Developer i know In short is more news a question of weeks or a question of months? We don't care if we get a movie of an unpolished version (just stick the words "Work In Progress" on it) We just wanna see something! Anything really! Placebo honey, have fun locking up xxx

    Multiplayer

I honestly don't see any problem there? Wouldn't CTI-games be a lot more fair if they didn't keep ending up with half of one team disconnecting/ loosing connection. I can imagine that the problem you think of is something like: "I don't want guys disconnecting, joining the other side on reconnect and giving away our base position". This could be solved by creating a playerlist.log (based on players id's) everytime ctigame starts. In this playerlist.log u could log players id, time of connection and side. On reconnecting the server could forbid that you join the other side. This idea would also greatly enhance possibilties for serveradmins to ban gamewreckers, not only in ctigames, but in every multiplay gamemode.
