If they'd spend the little time/money they have on stuff like this, they'd get a "2" on the reviews. Because obviously it would take them more time to develop it, take away vital financial resources. I'm no animator but i think all they need to do is cut up the anims that are allready in there, so there are better transitions between multiple anims. That way you don't need ragdol, not for a game of this scale. There is simply NO game that's of arma's scale and detail that uses ragdoll. Thats for a reason. All they need to fix is the general clunkyness of movent in arma, that doesn't mean it needs to be ragdoll or simulated muscledoll ;-) Besides that, in current gamingculture a game like Arma will never get a 9 on general gaming review sites. It's like asking an 8 yr old what he would like better, a McDonalds hamburger or a decently fresh cooked meal. Modern gamers just seem to want more and more prechewed non-inspired garbage. Arma does not appeal to them, it's too difficult. Sad, but true.

I wouldn't want to play 1.08 anymore. 1.12 is much much much better

I do understand it's not the best solution, maybe i'll look into it anyway, but i have to think about how to implement it in a comprehensible straightforward fashion. The 3 modfolders is by far not a perfect solution, but it is at least a solution.

I kinda figured that, and i understand why as well, it's an extra possibility for errors. Still i'm gonna skip coding this in atm. Maybe later. In fact there should be about 3 different modfolder parameters in modfolders.txt -modfoldersequence REQUIRED -modfoldersequence OPTIONAL -modfoldersequence SERVER Right now there is only one in there. The only problem i have is trying not to create configuration nightmares clientside. Sure i can code this in. But how am i gonna bring it decently to all users? I bet it won't help you if all of the sudden user A is connecting correct, user B thinks he should have all options enabled and isn't etc etc. I'm sure you understand my point.

Built a new version that asks to overwrite when you click on modfolder. Should solve your problem. Click update and test it. Hey Yoma, Thanks for taking care of that, you rock! I have a feature proposal for you that might make server admins life easier It would be great to mark some of the addons, say in modfolders.txt, as "client only" and have a check box in the application under Settings like "this is a dedicated server". Then when using your app on the server it should skip those addons marked "client only". Maybe it's not entirely what you want but in fact you could do this allready quite simple. Just create a second modfolders.txt and use the :seq: parameter to propose modfolder sequence. You could name that changed modfolders.txt something like "servermodfolders.txt" and just put it online as well. In my app just put the url to servermodfolders.txt and off you go. ;-) Maybe if i get the time and feel like it, some day, i'll create a serverlauncher tool as well. But for now that's not really my goal, also i think there are tools out there to do that allready.

Nope i only play as "Yoma", with a xml that refers to my website.

I think you mean TS Overlay. edit! Sorry seems TS display is a tool also!

"Client not responding" is indeed the message i get too. But not only on the SES server, on about every server i've connected to that has BE enabled at some point i got this. Could it simply be related to dsync on connection. The more players are on the server, the more it occurs. I'm pretty sure that in a lot of cases the server has not crashed, but is simply "busy". (if it would have crashed, i wouldn't be able to reconnect 10 seconds later to find the others still playing same map) That said, i too cannot connect to the SES server at the moment. "DirectX_3DHook" Is most likely the message it will give when user uses stuff like fraps/TSoverlay or rivatuner and the likes that can display FPS/ change information DX displays onscreen. It's completely comprehensible that they block stuff like that. I can imagine it would be very very possible to write an overlay that would light up/mark enemies, make vegetation/buildings transparent etc etc. A lot of cheats could occur there i guess. BIS should at least have a fps counter you can open, so people can look at their fps without being kicked.

It's been asked before. For now the answer is no. But maybe in some future this might change. There are several reasons for this, but the main one is simply that i don't want to "manage" other peoples code. Also any decent programmer would get a fit if they saw my source ;-) If i ever rebuild the thing from scratch then it's most likely going to be open source, be it as some kind of a learning process for me as well. What skills can you offer (I just program as a hobby)?

I'm still looking for a French translator! **New version** -Dutch translation included. Some minor stuff will not be translated in these translations, just to avoid creating bugs. About 97% of the application strings are translated.

Is there any logfile i can check/send you? I can't remember the exact message. It was on 1.12 beta, on several servers. Funny thing was: i was connected, ingame, but after about 10 seconds BE kicked me. Other users where having the same trouble.

Am i wrong or could this possibly lead to conflicts with vga drivers as well. Maybe some options in vga driver are considered a change of rendering? (I'm totally freewheeling here) All i can say is that BE acts weird from time to time (kicking me on connect, letting me reconnect, then all is well) I understand it must be very hard to create something like BE and i bet you guys constantly have to shipper between allow and disallow. Something must be wrong besides that: I hardware tested my memory (both with memtest AND a dedicated hardware testing tool we use at work) => my memory is fine. All cpu tests i do are fine. I do not use overclock. My voltages are all well within range. I do not get the RAM error message. Still BE seems to dislike me now and then. Funny thing is that it starts to like me when i reconnect about 20 seconds later. Could it be that there still is some kind of negotiating error or something along the lines of that? To me it seems that BE is getting some kind of timeout (again, completely freewheeling) and considers me as an unthrustworthy client simply because of this timeout. I hope that if you start disallowing overlay tools that you at least give a decent message showing the user what's causing their trouble. I completely understand that overlay tools would be disallowed.

I think it doesn't LOOK that great, but i love what it DOES.

I hope you didn't loose anything special! I'm sure you understand why the app does this. (when you click on a modfolder it does an autocompare, in this autocompare it looks for/ copies files) (which is actually a great feature to avoid unnessesary downloads) Next version will ask you to copy files or not, but only if you click on a modfolder, not if you click download all. This should solve your problem.

Some people have requested that i translate the application in several languages. I have started work on this (90 % of the apps gui is now translatable), i can do translation to Dutch. However i'll need people to translate to Spanish French If you think you're up to it, contact me via www.yomatools.be a list of languages i have in mind -English -German -French -Spanish -Dutch If you want other languages and see yourself fit to do a bit of translation: do contact me.

**New Version** -Some enhancements on detecting and copying files locally before downloading them. (it didn't work when you used the download all button, refresh optimized)
-
enter in the addons url box. http://www.gol-clan.net/updater/modfolders.txt or http://www.gol-clan.net/updater Maybe you just put in www.gol-clan.net/updater this probably won't work (the thing can also do ftp.blabla.com and probably doesn't know what protocol you want) 10 minutes and between that a new version posted, my support isn't too bad
-
**New Version** -Filesize for files that need to be downloaded will now show in the grid (filesize in K) -You will however not see it untill server admins have rebuilt Rem_XML file Noone ever asked me for it but i thought it would come in handy at some point.

The game is hard enough without PP on. (you can't spot infantry half as well with it on then without it) It could have been nice, but as often, a nice theory doesn't make a good practise. If i do put it on i notice my eyes get tired a lot faster when playing. To me it's like detailed vegetation(GRASS!!: nice on screenshots but only harms gameplay. I'd rather they put the effort on it in other eyecandy like heat flares on engines/hot summer days, fluid anims, better damage modelling and stuff like that. Stuff that could enhance gameplay. It's only my 2 cent, but i bet that about noone that seriously plays this game turns PP on. Stuff like this made elements of the old OFP community (wrongfully) turn away from Arma.

**New Version** -Some cosmetics -Most importantly: 7z support is now included. How to use this (for server admins only): -YOU CANNOT MIX BOTH ZIP AND 7Z, this will not work! All packages should be in ZIP or in 7Z. -rename your modfolders.txt so people don't get errors when trying to sync while you change the modpacks. -Set default compression algorithm to .7z in settings -Repack all your mods via the upload tab and upload them to your server -Edit your modfolders.txt put a extra line :.7z: The apllication will then know that it must look for .7z extensions -Rename it back to whatever it was before this operation. If you need any help, don't hesitate to contact me.

Setting textures to normal and shadows to high helped my setup a lot. Not much visual difference, allround it looks way better with normal textures than with gray surfaces loading all over the place :-) on high/default. It also plays a lot nicer.
-
I'm currently testing with 7z for compression vs normal zip. Some real world numbers: I tested it with an example modfolder: uncompressed: 227 MB => 100% Zipcompressed: 111 MB => 49% of total .7z compressed: 82 MB => 36% of total This means that in the example i tested 7zip compressed 26% better! Might be a good means of saving some bandwidth. The difficult part will be allowing server admins to choose what compression they want to use (i don't want every admin to be forced to use either). I think i can acheive this, but server admins will have to choose between either .7z or .zip for the entire server. This means that if they want to use .7z they'll have to switch at some point. I would strongly encourage admins that want to do this to rename modfolders.txt while they make the switch. (to avoid users getting errors). An update will soon be ready if all works out well.
