The reason trenches are not popular anymore is the fact that if you are dug in you are a static target which means you are bound to get hit, indirectly, get flanked and easily bracketed and shelled leaving the troops demoralized. When you are a force on the move you are hard to get acquired. you can shift fire, flank etc. This new doctrine is primarily used by the US army since its new rules in the 1980's

I still play Operation Flashpoint:Elite on the XBox, if anything I find I enjoy it more than the PC version simply due to being able to sit on the couch.

I've been learning the PC version editor and have slowly dipped my toes into editing scenarios for multiplayer coop on the PC and then porting them to the XBox.

I have been told I am notorious for my "unique" mission names...

Yeah... i hope, my xbox broke and i have a 360 but now im going to play OFP:E for the first time in 1 year tomorrow.

I just use OFP on PC now, but Id still have the odd game on OFP:E if it was BC.

Me too. Perhaps we could get the company to request it to be BC. That would surely work.

OFP:E is darn-near bugless.  Wish the same could be said for OFP:CWC, OFP:R or ArmA.

OFP:E bugs I can think of off the top of my head.

You can swim using a bicycle.

I hear the bus also boats in water.

You can still run uphill by side-strafing.

Possible leaderboard issues, not uploading for certain missions.

Trouble using the laser-designator on the OH-58 Kiowa.

The Load waypoint doesn't seem to work in the mission editor because of the lack of the ability to synchronize waypoints.

Yep, that's all I can think of, at the moment.

The game is rock-solid and the A.I. will astound you.  Hesitance about how the controls would turn out was washed away by the game's release.

It's a beauty.  Naxasta and I had some great games, last night.  Lots of fun, laughs and amazement at how the A.I. was outsmarting us.

Nicely said. I wish this dam game was bc. Mayber we could get everyone to make the company request it. Backwords compatible on 360. If that was the case you could expect to see maybe a couple hundred more players.

Sad to say, but I didn't really like the OFP Elite xbox version at all. I really like the FPS for computers , and thought the mission editing was very weak.

No. This game takes time to love, it grows on you and you become addicted.

I know how you feel I try to jump on when ever I can but good games/players are severly lacking(and Im not talking skill just general assiness(if thats a word)).  I also bought armed assualt but I knew my PC had no chance I just wanted the game before it dissapeared off of shelfs.

My gamer tag for xbox live is Stone48420 If you send me a friend request I'll accept Ive played some of your older missions I prob still have some of them.  I have made a few myself but hosting them kinda sucks since most people play life or border patrol.  Sometimes its fun just to jump in and start killing each other(Team vs Team missions).

 

Life is full of them little kids. Border patrol sucks no one plays it right. My friend says he made border patrol.

They should add artillery, more tanks, more weapons, more helicopters, and if you ever noticed theres a shovel on the east soldiers back, it'd be cool to use that to dig foxholes and stuff

Yes damn right mate. It would be amazing if each individual soldier had to use rations and water supplies etc to make it realistic. A chopper with a winch aswell. AP mines and artillery of course. Only British soldiers make trenches nowadays.

That would be cool. Pretend you went 2 days without food, you get the shaky and your aiming sucks, your vision is crap, you have a hard time aquiring enemies etc. It would make the game play even better.

I'm looking for quality players who still want to play OFP:E.  I've got Armed Assault, but my PC doesn't seem to be powerful enough to play it satisfactorily.  (Something might be slowing down my system.)

I really miss the quality mission scenarios, including insertion, execution and extraction phases.
