  2. Whats MLOD ><? lol sorry so far I know how to unpbo an addon, get into the config with wordpad etc. So do I just copy a whole column of a unit class, then paste it below, rename the directories, and then create a seperate folder in the pbo folder and reskin them there? Can that work?

  4. My mistake, 2003. But nevertheless, I still stand by the fact that the soldier at front looks like Eddie. As for the nomex gloves, I know alot of other forces use them too, but in this instance, it seems to fit with Eddies persona more. I dunno, u are right, it seems not likely in this case, but yeah. Thought I might throw it out there and see what sticks
  5. Heya guys, I just wanted a quick question answered. Okay so say I want to have a squad of 4 soldiers, Special Forces, and I want to have them have individual facial identities. How do I go about it? Basically Im in the process of creating the custom faces (wont be the same as the vanilla becoz they have beards in my own) and will want to include subtle variations to make them recognisable to me. heres what I know so far; (and correct me if im wrong) I am meant to compile the 4-6 different faces into a .pbo and then throw it into addons. Then ingame I write in the init line "this setface..." blah blah blah right? Would love to have an answer to this, cheers

  7. Huh? Oh no no im not looking for that. What I wanna do is take, for example Andrew G's face, that is found in the profiles section in main menu, and edit that so he has a beard or something, then re-pbo it as a seperate addon for my own use. Im looking to edit pre existing faces from Arma2
  8. Heya all, I wanted to know how to get into the cache of face textures from Arma2 vanilla itself. Ive already un pbo "ca" "character" etc but havent found it yet. Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
  9. Heya, I just wanna know if its possible to change the units that spawn in SecOp. Basically, instead of having russians spawn, can I edit it or re-route the script to spawn middle eastern terrorist units instead (in reference to the existing addons atm) Cheers p.s. on a side note. How do u get CAA1 to work?! Ive so far downloaded all the necessary folders and they are in "x" folder in my Arma2 directory (in that is 2 folders "Caa1" and "oac"). Now what? I start all my mods on the arma2 launcher so is there a way to get caa1 (and razani maps etc) to work from the launcher?
  10. Oh I meant more on the lines of changing the enemy units to be replaced by custom made community addons instead. At this rate i might as well wait for Operation Arrowhead =.= but if there is an answer for Arma2, can someone let me knw? and yeah, would be really greatful if i can get an answer for the Caa1 aswell :)

  13. Heya mates, Im very new to Arma2, let alone gaming computers, and would love ur guys feedback. Ive owned a comp and laptop before, and ran games like arma, opfla, kotor farcry 2, jedi academy, counter strike, assasins creed etc etc etc, but due to the comp being mum's, ive always had to deal with 20fps average which really stinks. Now that ive finally got some money flowing back into the account (student life sucks) I wanted to invest in a very good gaming computer. Im looking to run Arma2 in pretty much high level on all scales, and achieve an FPS of atleast 30-35fps minimum, on a low to moderate 'density of combat'. I dont want to just run games, if u know what i mean. I want to actually play the game without worry. So yeah, i snooped about and someone suggested this comp config. I wantd to hear from u lot about whether this would be able to achieve what i set out for.   15. Guys I think we should keep it simple for now and not get ahead. Things like transportation, other soldier units, battle droids, weapons, etc should be the major concern first, and not total reprogramming of other stuff like lightsabers and forcefields. Is this mod still leaning towards Clone War era? or is it still on the Civil war. If i can add my 2cents, Id personally love to see a more CloneWar era feel, with the Clone army and their gunships etc. But again, dont get ahead of urself if its getting too hard

    Can u create a module that can be dropped on the map, so as to force all units to remove camo and have beards, or have no beards and hav camo instead? :) like that unit addon ages ago for Operation flashpoint and the SAS, where u can create game logic modules on the map to force the units to either have bergens or not or all to have sunglasses or not etc etc. Dw if its too much of a hastle too. It would only appeal to ppl like me that hate seeing cleanly shaven teenage boy faces that are meant to be passed as SAS elite operatives.

    Heya, will the next patch be able to include the beards for the units? I remember in Arma1 the addon included .gif files of beards that were automatically pasted onto the faces of the units when u play as them. Can u maybe look into implementing that to the units of Arma2 please?

  19. Mate, so far ive got high hopes aswell about this. Tho, one thing Id very much like to see is the ability to drop a sound loop for townships so that u can hear a bustling village with the animals, cheap radios playing, people chatting and going about their business, and even the laughter of kids. gives it more of a feel of the town being "alive". And when the first shot is fired, even have chaos and hearing panic and doors shutting. Just food for thought, not sure how hard it will be to make or incorporate, but i think its alot more interesting than another patrol inwhich u are walking thru a piss-quiet village with AIs just standing ther looking dully at u.

One question: how effective is that british DPM desert camo interms of the environment itself? any chance u might lighten it up atad and make it more capable to blend in? from the pics they look quite bold and dark compared to the reference pic and real gear, but that might just be becoz of the after effects of the pic. Just a suggestion aye, dw if u dont change it :) Apart from that im loving it heaps. Always fully for an British SF, SBS, SAS, SFG, etc etc ^^

    Those research carried out are nothing but biased and flawed. what research can actually show us, and this is a fact, that correlation does not equal causation. Simply becoz a child who was exposed to violent images before, does not mean they act out violently to mimic it after. Yes, some cases it does happen, but its been refuted that the images itself isnt the CAUSE. u neglect addrenaline rushes, brief hypo mental stimuli, etc. Simply the same as u would get if u went for run and saw a car accident that shot ur heart rate up. U dont go running around after crashing cars do u? Further to this, imagine u and ur mates go and watch a scary movie on halloween. 9 of 10 chances u and ur mates will experience a spike of adrenaline from the images that u have seen right? now answer me this, do u, right after go out with ur mates and mimic the gruesome acts? NO. what we can say for those ppl, those 1 in 100000 chance that do commit acts right after, are either mentally unstable, or socially neglected. Finally, it isnt the game that caused them to cause the acts, but other social normative factors. People who go and conduct these research evaluations are nothing but biased and already mind set. Ofcourse they want to find the correlation! i mean, could u imagine how much flak they can get if they found none? If they say yes, ppl will take it for the bible and believe anything. what u must say is if this same effect affects u? coz I sure as hell already can give u that answer, u wont. To round up, yes, one youtube vid can spark a huge problem in the game, but like pornagraphic images or gruesome acts, they are immediately taken off. what was the responce to the hooker units giving a blowjob to soldiers in Arma2 that went up? the replies were humour and 'shits and giggles'. No contraversy and no news reporting anywhere. I cant say that it wont be the same for children, but i can say that it wouldnt be a huge step off from slaughtering animals and civilians in the game, as they will join the civilian category. Once they do join that category, they will join what other humour envelopes them. I, to this day, havent seen anything more than 3 vids from youtube that I can call disgusting. Unless u ppl sitting and watching them want to call animal liberation and file a law suit for a hick that just shot a cow on the side of the road in Arma2.

    I would like to throw in my opinion; Understandably, the inclusion of civilian children will stir contraversy, and definately, some may say that the images of kids strewn bloody all over a village will do abit to damage someones psychque. However, simply because u spawn a child on the map, does not always mean u will kill or mane or brutalise them. So much so that simply spawning women or animals in the game doesnt contribute to slaughtering them when the mission starts as well. People spawn them to add extra emmersion to the game, and provide a more realistic atmosphere for the game. In many right minded individuals, going around hunting kids in the map isnt on their agenda at all. with spawning children on the map, maybe it might do well to both add emersion, aswell as morally prohibit the reckless bombardment of a village for example, or add a more degreeing tactic to taking into account public opinion and awareness when carrying out an operation, which lets face it, is very real in the world today. Ontop of that, one must not forget that having an addon like children in the game doesnt mean people MUST download it and PLAY with them. If u do not wish to play them in the game, simply dont include them. But others that wish to spawn a village of civilians, and animals, and old ladies, and younger (deemed 'Hooker' sometimes) women will benefit the chance to include children to the list too. Just becoz u can download and play with children in the game, doesnt necessarily mean there will be slaughtering of kids by the thousands, or wrongful and disgusting uses of them in game. It is up to the player to make that decision, as well as deciding how they include their animals and civilians and other atmospheric emersion addons too. p.s. Im not too sure, but i heard Cod4 2 has the option of not playing that airport map. Again, its up to the player to decide. Just coz u can, DOESNT mean u will.
