That Air Arsenal doesnt have to assault your front line trops it can attack supply lines/lines of communication, what use are your thousands/millions of troops if they have no ammo/food or medical supplies? Air power as was shown throught WW2/korea/vietnam/GW1/2 is now a major Power in modern Warfare, yes it cannot take ground and hold it, but it can sure as hell stop you from taking and holing it. The Usdoesnt need to have Ground troops nearby toassist, they have carrier task groups (from what ive heard aleays in the vicinity) nearby, Nippon aircraft can reach there (with Inflight refeuling) even Australian Airrcraft can too, china would never invad Taiwan unless it wa sure ther would be no comeback to it.

I dont know if your a Sprog or not, but sometimes they let you on base to chat with personell if you are interested in a career in the RAF. I Also take it your At Madras (is Doc Malc still there?) when i was there ( good 5 years now, yeesh) the carrers office (mrs Towns) had a good load of carrer info for the RAF, also they could be able to set up a meeting with a member of The RAF. The Ghurka Regiments are Stationed In Catric in Yorkshire, it used to be a RAF base years ago when i lived on it, Phantoms i think. The last Bayonet charge was during the falklands apparenlty, the last hill they took overlooking port arthur. (also the last VC till iraq? may be wrong) My mates dad was a doctor in the navy, and they had some Ghurkas on board now as they where in the army they where hazed essentially, told to jump of the front of the ship and swim to the end of it. problem was they couldnt swim and didnt tell anyone!

I thought the Ball gunners only got into the turret when the Aircraft was well off the ground, seems common sense really. Although i wouldnt envy any gunner position, especially Tail End Charlie.

My Mums dad Served in the Royal Navy during World war 2, first in the atlantic (both ships torpedoed) and then moved onto the Pacific, according to legend landed in burma with a crate full of gold to pay the locals to fight the japs, also served on HMS belfast. We took him there before he died and boy did that tour guide get a shock when the old guy starts telling him hes wrong about stuff My dads Aunt was a WAAF on radars, she also didnt like the tour guide at Hendom Air museum when we went. My dads dad was in a reserved occupation (farmer) German POWs (those considered not to Nazis) worked on the farm with him, mainly downed airmen, also had a Sherman tank driven off a bridge on his land by some dumb yank. His brother served in the Army and was killled in North africa.

They are also being used in an enviroment they wherent designed for as well, the Abrahms was designed for use in Europe against russian armour, it was never designed for use in a desert hence all the modifications after the first Gulf War, and it was never designed for use in an urban envirment hence the TUSK upgrade. Those Tracks would last much longer out of sand trust me. Anyone see the News cast about the first Iraqi Special froces raid btw?

There aretwo U2's in flight in that picture one over the runway and one farther north of The AFB, what are the cluster of small aircraft at the north end of the base? They look like they have delta wings, one is taxi'ing (sp?) to the runway.
