And the richest 1 % hold 90% of the wealth. So shouldnt they pay commensurately more?

It's not an excuse. And the ONLY thing I have heard about them being 'forced' to take amphetamines is from the defense lawyer for those two pilots. In fact, most of the reports quoted here commented that the 'go pills' werent much more than ultra 'Wake Ups'. If you take drugs, legal or not, you are still responsible for your actions. Just like if you drink and drive and kill someone, you are responsible.

The person who's going to put it back into the economy where it helps the most. I understand that the top bracket of people are going to be getting the most from this tax cut, but look at the numbers. Â Who pays the most taxes? Â The top bracket. Â So when you do a tax cut, who's going to be effected the most by this tax cut? Â The top bracket. This isn't Bush trying to line the pockets of the wealthy, this is a coincidence. Â It's like this: when you relax laws on speeding tickets, who's going to be effected most? Â Old people or young people with fast cars? Blah blah blah blah. you really dont get it, do you? Corporations and their top earners dont give a damn for the people who work for them. they care about profits and the bottom line. Do some reading and you'll discover that the wealthy people that get the most out of the tax cuts are the same ones that move factories to Mexico, Malaysia, or China to save money on labour. If you think that Nike or General Motors has a vested interest in employing Americnas (or Canadians) think again.

Because this is the Kinder Gentler Voodoo Economics. And there is NO way that Bush the Younger would actually LIE to people, is there?! Sheah. Welcome to the wonderful world of hope and pray economics. And all its going to do is sink the country deeper into an economic crisis. The rest of the world is having their own problems... so it's not rosy everywhere else, but right now the US economy is slower than most other countries. It's that whole 'degrees of shittiness' scale

After looking at how impossibly long certain threads have come, the decision is to close the originals and open new threads on these topics. Â this makes it more managable. To be continued!

Wow. An institution freaked out in the cockpit and pickled that bomb onto those friendly troops. I didnt think the cockpit was big enough for the whole USAF. If you are driving your Fedex truck down the street and you get edgey and freak out while going through an intersection and accidentally run over a couple of pedestrians, it's YOUR fault, not Fedex. Facts are facts, and negligence is negligence.

Your prof sounds like a bit of a bufoon, actually. Tax cuts are not always good. If they are not accompanied by resposible cuts in spending, all it will do is increase your deficeit. And like it or not, you cant always acheive everything you set your mind to.

Since Tovarish found the Lomac thread and brought it back up, can we take this thread back to the Eastern Front, circa 1944? Thanks

Good lord! that is so sweet! can the real thing actually do that? Or is it a case of 'We'll try it in a sim because we dont have to worry about leaving a smoking black hole on the tarmac'? I see how this is gonna go. I'll just get ok at FB, and have to drop it when LOMAC comes out. Evil flight sim peoples!

I fully agree with you. Â It isnt heroic to get busted up in a car wreck. Â It was just something easy to put an heroic spin on the situation with the backup of intel on par with the WMD 'evidence' used to justify the conflict. Right place + right time + needing something 'heroic' = Pvt Lynch. Not that she's done anything wrong, as such (other than being poorly trained, which isnt really her fault either). Â She's just been hyped, and then had that hype shown to be fals.

[/moderator hat off] I am really sorry to see Denoir leave. Â At first I thought he was some liberal pinko commie, and totally thought he had his head up his ass. Â Then I realized that he was indeed something of a liberal, but certainoly did not have his head up his ass. Â I've always know that when he makes a point on a controversial topic, I'll end up thinking about it more often than not. Â I may not always have agreed with him...but I've always respected the hell out of his commitment to his views. Â And so while I think it is a sad thing that he's leaving... I am always glad to see someone that will stand by what they believe, even if it means sacrificing something they enjoy. You will be missed by a lot of us Denoir. Â And I am truly sad that you felt the need to leave. [/moderator hat on]

Hum.. An MP session on the Radishville servers. It was a CTF match on Everon. I covered one of the flags after capturing it with a Bradley. Managed to mow down half a dozen guys as they tried to capture the flag. Tried to take out a helo that flew past, but it just flew away. I didnt think much about it till the guy that bailed out of the helo snuck up behind me, planted two satchels under that Bradley, and blew me to kingdom come. It's what I like best about MP OFP. So much you can do other than just run and gun like say... CS or TF.

I have the Saitek X-45 and just love the thing. It's also reasonably priced. About the only thing that I wish it had was force feedback. But I'll trade forcefeedback for a stick that I can configure enough that I barely have to touch the keyboard. I just need to actually learn to dogfight in FB. I can fly the hell out of nearly anything, but I suck at shooting things down.

I just bumped to a Barton 2500+, because a friend needed a system almsot immediately. SO I sold them my old stuff and got new stuff. I did want to wait for Athlon 64, though. I think it will be totalyl worth it. You know, I understood overclocking back in the day when a P90 was easily upgraded to a P120 and saved a couple hundred dollars. But these days the processors are so fast to start with, there really is little need for OCing. It's one of those things you do if you just have to tweak things out and try to push it. I'd rather have stability and a cool rig than going nuts with 150-200 dollars in gear for OCing a processor when I could just by the faster processor for less than that But that's just my opinion.

AMD chips are rated like this: An Athlon XP2000+ doesn't mean the chip is 2000mhz. The chip is only something like 1700mhz, but the chip performs as well as a 2000mhz CPU made by another company. AMD's are great chips and you shouldn't have any problems with games. Just make sure you get a good heatsink and fan as they can run pretty hot. Actually, the faster P4's disipate as much heat as any of the Athlon processors. Â The 'they run hotter' thing is really not true anymore I'd stay away from the Soundblaster cards, if just for the fact that so many people have had problems with them. Â Dunno as much about Audigy... but my SB Live is sitting in the closet. So in our opinion, what is the best sound card availible? (In reliablity that is) If you are getting an Nforce 2 mobo (Which is what you should be getting if you get an AMD) just use the sound built onto the mobo. It has it's own processing, so it doesnt eat up a lot of cycles, and the sound quality is excellent

I heard the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz is a damn good PCI sound card Or just get an NForce2 mobo if you have an AMD processor. The MCP2-T sound support is at least as good as my SBLive

My XP 1900+ and new Barton 2500+ play pretty much any game that I throw at them. Â AMD is actually a far better gaming CPU for the most part, because you pay a lot less for similar performance.

MSI otherboards are the greatest.  Rock solid, very very few problems! For AMD, get their Nforce2 boards.  MCP2-T is really nice because then you dont need a standalone sound card, and still get excellent sound quality. For Intel, their new Neo boards using Springdale and Canterwood are totally sweet.  The 875P-NEO was rated as one of the best values in a P4 mobo on Anandtech recently. MSI is great  I've used their mobo's exclusively (for my own machines and 25+ builds for friends) over the last 5 years, and never had a problem (other than morons who use their tower case as a holder for their beers, then tip said beer over into the computer ) Stay away from ECS. they are cheap, and not too bad, but I dont find them very stable. Stay away from ANY cheap power supply. (If it isnt dual fan, dont use it). I am not big on ATI drivers, but others seem to like them. Yes, I am pro Nvidia. My FX5600 plays Resistance really well

LOL. Troll succesful I have Q3 sitting around here somewhere. The engine is pretty powerful, but still suffers from limited map size and a lack of realistic drivable vehicles. I'd love to see something like this become more popular, mostly because it would be nice to have a good game to play when I want an instant action sort of fix.

Realistic Quake. A true Oxymoron. (See? That's prolly what Tex was gonna say! )

Argh! Not a great idea, storing nuclear waste on the moon!

The Longest Day is a great movie. Gummi puppen? John Wayne and everything. I liked that they focussed on Pegasus Bridge in the movie. If it werent for the Oxs and Bucks, the Germans would have held the bridges on the Orne, giving them free reign to get tanks down to the beaches. And that would have been NASTY. ABTF is also great, not the typical Hollywood strokefest where we end up believing the USA won the war on it's own. Today is also the opening of Canada's Juno Beach Museum. I am very glad they have managed to get it built before all of our D-Day vets have passed on.
