I'm pretty certain it's 'General Infantry' which is a classification within the US Army. I'm also pretty sure that it's use predates Vietnam. Probably WWII as far as I can gather.

you're just a llama, Snake. I love CS..and I guess I play on more 'adult' servers, ecause I rarely see |337 speak anymore. try slackers united server sometime if you can get a decent ping. www.slackersunited.com It's a great server, but the admins can be sorta pushy sometimes.

Wobble, you hit the nail right on the head there. Bravo. I am likely far more liberal than you are, as I believe that restricting some weapons is a neccesary thing. However, I despise the knee jerk liberals who equate responsible fire arms owners with criminals. They are so bloody sanctimonious and holier than thou. Gah! I will admit that I am totally oblivious to gun laws in Texas. What does it take to get a handgun in Texas?

I think irresponsible jerks like that need a beating! I was testing a gun once that was tuned for 300fps running CO2 tubes. Â We slapped a back bottle on, and it was running really hot (380-390fps). Â The guy who owned the gun (Also the guy who ran the field) asked me not to shoot anyone at close range. Â Guess who popped up five feet in front of me and took one in the shoulder? Â I feel guilty to this day because he's still sporting a little crescent shaped scar where I hit him You ever got shot right at the top of your head? Had a guy named Jesus shoot me from above his first day, and it just skimmed the top of my head and DAMN did that hurt. Â Anyways: Drink lots of water. (Beer at lunch is good too, just not a LOT) Wear good boots. Float like a butterfly Sting like a bee.

Tovarish, It's supposed to mean 'elite' 1337=leet Get it? Using numbers and symbols to represent letters they vaguely resemble. 3 for E, 4 for A, 5 for S. It's pretty lame, but all the script kiddies seem to think it's cool.

---> hands Wobble some Midol Though I do have to agree that 13375p34k is just insane. I think you're wrong about shite. Shite is a good British Isles term and has been for years.

Wow, can  you feel the love in here? [/sarcasm] It's really easy for all of us to sit on our high horses and condemn one side or the other for what is going on.  And as insane as Avon can often make me with her rather right skewed views, she is the ONLY one of us that has even the remotest idea of what it's like to live there and now.  Unless there are some closet palistinians on the board who arent talking. And as such we should tend to cut her some slack.  After all, look at how many americans were frothing at the mouth for Al Queda blood after 9/11. She is merely upset and angry (and IMNSHO righfully so) that she cant do the things most of us take for granted without the worry of being blown to bits. Both sides are doing some deplorable things. That's the nature of armed conflict.  It would be really nice if we could all 'get along' but the racial and religious hatreds and conflicts are deeply rooted, and as such arent about to just 'get better'  Someone suggested that the israelis are being heavy handed shooting at children who throw rocks at tanks.  But the sad fact is that throwing a stone and throwing a bomb can often look a heck of a lot alike.  Personally, I question the sanity of ANYONE that would throw ANYTHING at an MBT.  I am not condoning the shoot first ask questions later attitude, but it is at least understandable. I for one am of the belief that only outside intervention will slow down the conflict.  Neither side is objective enough to control the situation.  Hopefully something like that will happen before it's too late.

There is a .us TLD. The problem is it is horribly mismanaged and it's even harder to get a .us domain name than it is to get a .ca one. Sometimes I think they decide rules with a dartboard. Or an infinite number of monkeys with an infinite number of typewriters. Blah.

Look at the topic. You said Laptop or Desktop. Heh. For notebooks, Dell isnt bad. The Vaio's from Sony are pretty sweet too. Get something with Geforece2go in it if you hope to play OFP much

Benze, I think the point they are all trying to make is that while the USMC is in fact a good fighting force, other nations do just as well, often with less. Though, with the topic of the thread being 'boast' I cant blame you for being proud of the Marines. Mother Green and her Killing Machine, to quote Rafterman.

Canada isnt quite as bad as the UK.... yet. We can still buy handguns and semi automatic rifles...with a great deal of restrictions. We'll see what happens in the future, but I dont trust our government any farther than I can throw em.

Now that's a good one. I always hate fragging a teammate in CS when FF is on. It generally sucks a lot. I cant imagine how shitty some Spectre crew feels knowing they likely killed one of their own. That article about the Canadian snipers was pretty cool. Nice to know that our boys can do more than police people. Being a Peacekeeper is a great thing..but once in awhile it's nice to see that you can be a Peacmaker, if you know what I mean.

If you need something to write papers on and not much else, go for a Dell. If you want to game, look at something like an Alienware. I generally vote for desktops, but a notebook may also be a good choice for a student. Just expect to pay a lot more if you want to get a notebook that you can game on.

Of course my gut reaction was Canada, what with their 'moose-mounted cavalry'.... lol, JUST KIDDING (please dont cut off our bacon supply)  Yes, it does depend on the criteria you use, and after all, the litmus test for a fighting force is a war, and many countries havent done that for a while. Remember this though: the efficiency of a fighting force is inversely proportional to the complexity of their dress uniforms.<span id='postcolor'> God you Americans make me insane! It seems like the best thing any of you have to do most of the time whenever Canada comes up is to bash our forces. While it's true that we spend less money on our military than the US (And I deplore the government of my nation for it's stupidity) our forces are very well trained and efficient. In fact, if you look at the first US Special Forces back in WWII, the cream of the crop was provided by the Canadians in the form of men from the PPCLI.  (No, I didnt get that from The Devils Brigade, I got it from a guy who served in the PPCLI and was well versed in their history) While I agree that the condition of our armed forces is more than a little on the deplorable side, on average our troops are as well trained and equiped as anyone.  In most cases, likely better.  After all, JTF2 snipers are wandering around Afghanistan because they are among the best in the world. I'll stop ranting now

Ralph, you dirty dog... Do you work for the CIA? Personally, I suspect the US Army would use Novalogic games to try to pump interest in the American Armed forces. Â Their games have a much lower lerarning curve and are higher on the fun factor for the casual gamer. Â I figure there are two main types of people that enjoy Flashpoint. Â The ones that are either past/current/future servicemen or the ones that love the genre but dont have the requisite mentality to be a grunt (like me) Still, after playing Flashpoint for a month and a half, I -do- have the urge to go sign up for the reserves... but I doubt they are looking for chubby thirty three year olds.

Rest in Peace, Queen Mum. In these days of the tabloid press sensationalizing everything royal, I think it's hard to find someone as respected and loved as she was. And I am sure she'll be missed by many. There'll never be another like her....

W00t!! I just picked it up, first day on sale here in Canada. Â I got the super funky metal box, with Outcast, Jedi Knight, and Dark Forces. Plus a way cool lightsaber keychain! I got it mostly for the box and keychain, but since my six year old stole my old Star Wars games a year ago, it'll be nice to have them again. Now i have to suffer through sic hours of work before I can play. AIEEEE!

I wouldnt want anything with tracks. If you started chewing up pavement the local highways people would be VERY pissed. Me, I'd like one of those funky wheeled British Fox armouredCars. Like the one with the working NVG. That would kick butt. Going out for a night spin through the hills without the lights on. Imagine the looks on some poor guys face when you interupt his 'parking' with his girlfriend by sneaking up then hitting him with a spotlight and aiming that 30mm cannon at him. Whaahaha. Talk about coitus interuptus!

That's WAY WAY WAY too much information, Wobble.. And while not likely to get you taken off an airplane and charged, I know I wouldnt be comfortable sitting next to a man in womens underwear! Wahaha. Man, no matter how much you might like to inject a litle 'James Bond' into your mundane life, making a comment like that on an aircraft in the post 9/11 world is just STUPID. This poor schmuck will prolly get a huge fine and some jail time, all for trying to be a wiseass. But I doubt he'll EVER do anything like THAT again!

You've run into one of the most noxious of netizens.. The Red Faced Knowitall. This species believes itself to be one of the largest in the animal kingdom, whereas in reality it is tiny and insignificant. Â It believes that the only way to express ones opinion is to bellow it out and deny the possibility that it might be wrong. Â Even with demonstrated proof, the Red Faced Knowitall will shout and yell and often resort to name calling and anger to make its point. There is only one defence against said beastie... Ignore it. Â That generally infuriates them even more, and often results in the specimen demonstrating to all it's ignorance and stupidity. That being said, it sucks that you have had to deal with this. Â I say dont let it get to you. Â Besides, anyone with half a brain knows the FN is a betterbuilt and more reliable weapon. Â Why do you think the US army adopted the minimi? Â

My first 'real' game was called 'IFR' for the VIC 20. It was a flight sim with instrument only flying. Loads of fun! Then I stepped up to a C64. Loved Operation Space Station. Then the PC. I still have my old 286 with an Ad Lib card. I loved that thing. It sounded so much better than the PC speaker. F19 was actually the game I used as justification to buy the sound card.
