Animals have intelligence, and some ability to reason. But not at a level that allows them to make decisions and choices in the same manner that Homo Sapiens does. Lions dont become vegetarians, and Sheep dont rise up and smack down the Scotsmen. And that means that Man pretty much does whatever the hell they want.

    Oxygen being released this week?

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">About Pamela: Pamela Anderson is not boring.... just check her porn movie with Tommy Lee. She can do a thing or two that will keep you veeeeery entertained.<span id='postcolor'> Dude, I would shag Pamela with YOUR gear. Motley Crue played here a couple years ago. The next day, this guy was walking through the store I worked in. A really disgusting sleezeball. I followed him around for half an hour because he totally looked like the sort that owuld steal something. He walked out, and my manager was 'DO YOU KNOW WHO THAT WAS???' It was Tommy Lee. Lemme tell ya brother, I wouldnt risk my life with anything that THAT had been near Now, back to the topic... I'd love to see Oxygen released to all of us punters that arent exactly wiz's. It would let us putter around without a clear goal so that we can learn, and then perhaps contribute. As it is, I wouldnt have a hope of getting it through BIS because I have no modelling experience.

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">We are predators. You can't get away from that. Why do you think you need to eat that tofu/soya shit. Cows and other herbivore don't need to. Our bodies are designed to recieve proteins in the form of meat. It's hard to get around that. Yes, you could probably force a lion to eat Tofu as well, but it's not natural.<span id='postcolor'> You're right that you'll never get a lion or other carnivorous predator to change their diet! Here's the thing though... I've recently become rather lactose intolerant. Pretty much any dairy product causes me serious GI problems. Now I have a CHOICE. I can cut out dairy products from my diet and live pain free. I can get my calcium from other sources. Now, I still enjoy a hamburger (but no cheese) or a steak...but I dont NEED them. I can make other dietary choices. That's the difference between us and wild animals. We have intelligence and reasoning, and this gives us the ability to make choices. And the supermarket lets us have options in terms of diet. Now, if civilization fell apart tomorrow, I suspect a lot of vegans would learn to hunt rather fast, or face extinction.

Anyone care to live a second childhood?

They arent dolls. Guys dont buy 'dolls' They are action figures. Suitable for display. that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!

When you put it that way, it's sort of hard to argue BTW, I dont think there is really anything wrong with being a vegan. Unless you are some strange vega-nazi who thinks people who do chose to eat meat and use animal based products are inferior.
  6. Does BIS actually care if people know that you've been given access to Oxygen? I can see them getting a little bent out of shape if you started sending it to everyone, but if you say 'We have been given the use of Oxygen, expect this and this from us ASAP' how would that hurt BIS in any way??

    I just love your screenshots

I have a really good one of an upside down Mi-17 with Hammer sitting in it in his civies. I'll post it when I resize it and get my webspace set up. He sure is good in a tank, but ask him to park a helicopter...and just look at what happens....

Seriously: I use public transit instead of a car and I recycle. Not so Seriously: Vegan? Meaning you eat all those plants that, via photosythesis, reduce the amount of greenhouse gas and thus you contribute to global warming? And by refusing to eat beef and pork, you allow animals to live that create methane and other noxious gasses! SHAME on you, Aculaud!!!

I happen to think Avon is so far to the right that she's about to fall off, but I find her posts are rarely anything but intelligent and well thought out. .. if sometimes a little on the whacked side Sometimes Wobble goes a little overboard..but hey, he's from Texas, so right there he gets special consideration (kind of like how when you were a kid you always had to play nicely with that mentally handicapped cousin ) Every once in awhile you catch a glimpse of childishness and name calling..but that's easy to tune out in favour of the good stuff Me, I'm a little left of center, but at times also very conservative... so I am an odd creature  And sometimes I love playing devils advocate and seeing if I can get the fur flying Nordin, I love that new avatar...too funny.

    My 1000th post-it's a spam!

This isnt bull. It's a simple fact that we are omnivores, not herbivores. Though I do have to agree that food animals are treated very very badly. The problem is people arent willing ot spend the money it would take to have 'humane beef/chicken' And with most people, out of sight truly is out of mind.

    Off topic computer related problem

The upgrade will give you the NT kernal. And yes..it's a totally new engine, not just an upgrade to the look and feel. As far as I know, it utilizes the existing disk partitions, so you are not going to take advantage of the added stability that NTFS offers. Best bet is a totally fresh install.

Why birds could easily be done in ofp

Or worse... *M1A1 platoon rolls along and stops* Bird...5 oclock...200 meters ad nauseum, and the radio spam makes firing impossible... So the enemy RPG soldiers eat your M1 Tank Platoon alive...

    Off topic computer related problem

NTFS is the way to go for a fresh install of XP. It's a far more stable (Heh.. MS..stable... wahahahah) system than FAT32. FAT32 is basically just a patched up extension of the ages old DOS file system from the days when 10 MEGAbytes was considered a HUGE amount of storage. And guys, XP is truth in advertising. Anyone remember the X planes? XP=Experimental. MS finally owns up to producing beta software and selling it as a finished product!! Here's a good one for you. I bought a 128mb GeForce 3 the other day (Yeah yeah, I know the 4 is out but the 3 cost me half of the price of a 4 and is vastly better than my GF2MX). It cost me 25% what my first real computer did (Commodore 64 in 1983) yet has 2048 times as much memory.

    My 1000th post-it's a spam!

Actually, we are more suited to being meat eaters than vegetarians. Look in the mirror when you smile. You have teeth intended for cutting, rending, and grinding. Not just flat teeth for mulching. Also, our enamel is generally too light for a vegetarian only diet. Most vegetarian animals take in a lot of grit and dirt with their greens, and that wears the enamel and teeth down far quicker. Not that being a vegetarian is bad... it's just not really practical in anything other than a hightly advanced society. The average vegan or vegetarian wouldnt last too long in a pre industrial hunter/gatherer society.

    Us and eu fighting..

Leave it to Wobble to bitch and moan that everyone hates the US just because other governments are no longer willing to accept oppresive trade practices from the United States. The timber industry in my home province is being decimated by a toptally unreasonable tariff on softwoods exported to the US. Â American timber producers claim that our wood is unfairly subsidized, making it unprofitable for them to do business. And yet the US timber industry is not only highly profitable, but considered a good risk investment. Â And as a consequence, my home town is turning into a ghost town because all the jobs are going away. Yet when other goevernments begin to give them a taste of their own medecine, knee jerk protectionists start to bitch and moan that the rest of the world hates the US. Â We dont hate the US, we hate your politicians trying to score points with the electorate by destroying other nations industries. Tell ya what...lets throw a 29 percent tariff on gas, electricity, and water flowing south to the US and see what you say then... PS: I dont have a hate on for you Wobble. In fact you are one of the more rational and amusing people on this board. Just sometimes you seem a little far to the right of center

    A bunch of little questions

    11) No. Each crew member is counted individually, and since you can only have 12 men per unti, that is four tanks max. Which if I am not mistaken is one tank platoon.

    Friendly fire

4 Canadians killed by 'Friendly Fire' Good god in heaven. Some PPCLI boys were in a live fire execise IN a posted training area, and some chucklehead american pilot got his spurs caught in the pickle button and killed 4 of them, and wounded at least six more. If anyone cares to read my past posts, I tend to tell people to take a step back and not slam the american forces for ineptitude. But when I read something like this, I start to wonder. This guy should be busted down to a private and detailed with peeling potatoes for the rest of his sorry ass military career. To me it smacks of some god damn bored cowboy wanting in on the actiopn and taking the first chance he got to 'get some' Yeah, this guy has to live with what he is done, and I am pretty certain he's going to have a lot of problems with this... but that doesnt bring back the lives of people on his side. Sorry..I just felt the need to rant...

    Friendly fire

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Real life is not a game, there is no "reset" button<span id='postcolor'> I totally agree... Thing is, these four families will never be the same because of what happened. You cant eliminate friendly fire. The heat of battle makes it impossible. It's only when the friendly fire is so meaningless that it makes me so angry. If this had happened during an actual operation, I for one would be asking people to be understanding. After all, shit happens. But they were training in a designated area. And that is what makes it unacceptable, and why I will continue to refer to this pilot as a trigger happy cowboy even if I DONT know all the facts. AM I being judgemental? Damn right. But it's my opinion and I have right to it. Are all American reservist pilots trigger happy cowboys? I doubt it.

And I am now an 'Elongated Sapajou' which I am not sure the meaning of. The closest I could come is a term for a certain monkey. Aculaud... Dont take this so seriously. I actually think it's pretty amusing, even with a monkeyish title. Â This is supposed to be fun... not stress us out. Â

Aculaud.. Post count doesnt really matter. After all...being a spammy git is annoying..but gives one a high post count (No, you're not really a spammy git *cough*damage*cough*) I'd take a nifty title any day over a high post count!

    Favorite simpsons quote

I bent my wookie Ralph Wiggum I dont know why, but this simple quote sends my friends off the deep end. I gues it's because we read in maxim once that 'grooming the wookie' is a term for self-love. Gives the comment a rather twisted concept, wouldnt you say? Wahahahaha.

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">The sad thing is these events are being forgotten. I probably would have never known if it weren't for ppl like longinius. All those hundreds of pamphlets to some obsure disease or "how to vote" cards (Surely the politicians know that we are all just too busy/lazy to vote??) & etc. Why not a couple of "the battle of ..."? Â Worth a try?<span id='postcolor'> This is sort of going offtopic..but that's ok. It's one of my pet peeves. Â Our education system doesnt seem to be geared to the teaching of history. Â It seems to be more important to push people out with a minimum competency in the English language, an understanding of technology, and very little else. It's amazing how much the younger people on the board seem surprised at when people tell them, especially since pretty much all of it can be gleaned from a short visit to the library... or if you are lazy, a google search. Anyone else noticed this

    Friendly fire

You know Wobble, I should have expected that. Yeah..I missed the thread last night..I only went back to page 2, didnt see anything, so I posted. Sue me. Sheesh My point wasnt that close air support is a bad thing. My point was that some guy went off half cocked. Now, if he'd set down and pointed out holes from the fire he was supposedly under, I wouldnt be upset that he dropped a bomb on my countrymen. After all, if some moron shoots at what has to be a friendly aircraft..they deserve to get fragged for the stupidity. The point is they were in a designated training area, but instead of listening to the folks on the ground, he decided to be a cowboy about it. When 'friendly fire' starts to account for more casualties that the enemy inflicts, it's time to start looking at why. Espectro, friendly fire happens in all conflicts. Under the heat of fire, shit happens no matter what flag you wear. So please dont try to turn this into a US flame session. Leave it what it is... a 'godamn cowboy pilot needing to be busted back to recruit for doing some dumbass shit' thread. Icefire... You can bet that heads rolled over the sinking of that japanese ship. One thing that the American Forces dont seem to look too kindly on is being made to look foolish. I think you'd be hard pressed to find many folks that are major fubar artists that stay in the service.
