  1. Does anyone (i.e BIS) know if it's possible to determine where a unit is aiming? The GetDir command is not enough - I mean the distance from the horizontal as well... I'm surprised that this information is not accessible through a script command... Any help would be appreciated. David Hrivnak david.hrivnak@lionhart.net Toronto, Canada

Many of you have horrible ideas

I suppose I'll add my few cents... This thread was an interesting read, even though I think the premise is misguided. BIS had to start somewhere and they did a fantastic job - what they should do is refine the existing game's logic and support the player's ability to create addons etc. (yes and release the SDK) This will ensure that the game lasts for many years. Bickering about which country is "supposed" to be represented or when the game takes place etc. is crazy - have a beer and play some OFP.. that's what BIS wants you to do... Let's try not to flame the few (fortunate for the rest of us) who already are insecure.. not to mention any names.. PS - I'd blast Ewoks any day...

    Aiming Direction??

.. sorry Spitfire, I don't mean getting a soldier to target an enemy, I mean how to determine where a soldier is aiming (could be at the sky, or a tree etc.) The result would be coordinates, not an object.
  4. I haven't seen this question asked - there's no script command that I can see to do this either: Is there a way to determine which units (under your command) have been selected? If this was possible, I could make custom commands you could issue to particular units (or groups) I just thought, if this isn't possible then I was thinking of making use of the addaction command to create a dynamic "menu" of sorts to run more advanced scripted commands - For example "select solder.." would create action items for each soldier under your command, "Fred..." "Barney..." etc., choosing one of those would present a list of scripts you could apply to that person like "Continue with mission objective" "Plant mines here" etc. What does everyone think about this idea? Do you think you'd use it?
  5. Greetings - With the script commands available it seems it's only possible to get a persons orientation in 2D... it it possible to determine where a soldier's AIMING? i.e "What object am I pointing at?" even if that object is above ground.... Thanks!!
