  1. Just my oppinions:

First off I think this thread is lame, so I didn't want to reply at first ... but got tempted anyway ... s**t happens.

OFP is more european than most games out there. The scenery, the mentality and the origin of the developers is all very european.

The "good guys" in the game are referred to as "west" or "Nato", only in the 1985 campaign, they're ever called US.

I'm not surprised to find psychopatic nationalists in a wargame forum, but you gotta take it easy. Since the first world war, wars have been collaborate effords, with troops from many nationalities involved. Your almost nazi obsession with only having us people and gear in the game is repulsive. I'm sure BIS don't share it at all.

I'd personally love the ability to swap some of the American stuff with european. It's hard to play good guy and american at the same time and all that flag-waving is repulsive.

I am making a UN addon at the moment, and the troops in it are european. If you don't like that idea, then dont download it.

I suggest you stop going online or play OFP over the net. You might run into a person who isn't american!

    Gimbal over and >OUT<

Nice Picture. Are you making people with blue helmets and barrets aswell???

Heres are some ideas to the UN force

    1. Make them civilians (but with uniforms if you can) with weapons so they are neutral to all three sides.

    2. Make soldiers/squads with different weapons (ak, m16, g36, steuyer) to reflect them as a multi nationel force.

hope it gives some ideas smile.gif

    <span id='postcolor'>

Those are great ideas ... mixed weapons would be good. First I had thought of giving them all Steyrs.

Yes they will have blue helmets and a new camo suit.

They will be available as Resistance. While this may sound strange there are several reasons:

1: UN usually protects the weakest group/armed force.

2: You can specify in the editor if they should be hostile or friends with everyone!

Thanks for the positive comments, guys!

  3. Soon from the forge of WKK Gimbal ... a United Nations peacekeeping force!

The aim is to make units that fits into the visual style of OFP and yet are unique.

The set will include soldiers with custom gear, as well as white jeeps and APCs.

    A small preview, the HMMWV.

I swear, it looks better when driving it! tounge.gif

  4. I think the example in the first post more or less sound awful. Accellerated time, symmetrical island, etc : sounds like Quake or other crap shooter - i hate them.

I love OFP for being closest to realism thus far. I like that you can get lost in vet mode and have to check streetsigns and landmarks to pin your position. I like the challenge that teams are not equal. I hope OFP 2 will be like OFP1, just with more details, like interiors of all buildings, better graphics, more troops, ambient life, etc.

  5. Ok, we all know AI drivers are awful. But here a few things that would make life ALOT easier for both the AI and the players!

First, civilians and others driving cars should STICK to the road, and not zig-zag into the side of the road all the time. It should not be too difficult to make the AI focus on the road when driving non-offroad vehicles.

Try putting a sportscar on Malden with waypoints along a road and watch him drive!

Second, when using the arrow keys to direct an AI tank driver, the keys should function like when you drive it yourself. Forward means forward, but sometimes AI start making strange detours and drive in other directions or go slow:

This makes them lethal close to mined areas!

If your tank is being shelled by enemies, you want the driver to go reverse when you say so, and not when he feels like it!

When other people are chatting on the radio, your orders to the driver gets low priority. This can mean that when you say stop, he can continue driving forward several 100 meters before he gets the command, because someone else takes up the bandwith with their chatter! This is highly lethal and very very annoying!

By giving the player commander direct control of the driving, with the arrow keys, all this will be solved! He can still say the commands for cosmetic reasons.
