Very nice launcher... very userfriendly and everything! I will recommend to all my friends! One thing: It doesn't launch my game. It launches Steam, but the game will not launch. The directories are correct, even with no addon folders set. "Engage and play" green bar is on the bottom but will not "Engage" Aka 'start' Arma2. Armed Assault II Steam Directory: Steam Path: Steam Arma Real Directory: (ok.) Default steam path: G:\Steam\Steam.exe steamapps\common\arma 2\arma2.exe My default game: ARMA II Steam Version. =============== I created a new profile with the same information and that didn't work ether. Skip Intro, Window, World Empty (fast start) all unchecked. No addons on right side.

If a bullet leaves a barrel (lets say... from a sniper rifle), is it leaving the barrel at its fastest speed? Or does it gain speed for a little bit and then begin to slow down? Probably a dumb question because of air resistance and all that... but It's just something I've been pondering. I figured yall would be the best group of folks to ask.

Alright. I've been looking at some real life videos and comparing them to other video games (as well as Arma2)... And I find that in Arma2, its the exact opposite with the M107. Video later.

Badlands Secondary objective help
BLSmith2112 replied to LemonAIDS's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Isn't this Dogs of War? I'm probably wrong. I had this problem. What I had to do was use command view and try to find where he was looking/pointing his gun. I tried to sneek around the building (the east side of the building of course) and show up behind his back. This of course will take many save attempts. So keep your AI far enough back, and once your in position to the east side of the building begin to use command mode and sneek up on him. Do take note, my experience is that he has a commander next to him. The commander will have to be killed first before trying to do what I suggested. -

Hey thanks a bunch man. :) Good luck reproducing them. I hope others don't have to face the same fate down the road. -
One thing I hate about the command system...
BLSmith2112 replied to Nedarb's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
You know whats annoying? I haven't gone into the thread much but I HATE this "Quick Command" menu. I want it REMOVED. It doesn't make it easier, it makes it insane. You want a unit (who is a driver in a truck) to move, you select the unit with F2 and click that location right?... NO!, that tells him to Disembark! HUH?! Ohh its a "dynamic" order system now, of course... aka CRAP. You have to carefully scroll your mouse down to "Move there". What happens when you are controlling 10 AI? HUH? You want me to micromanage 10 individual AI with this little new "method"? So instead of pressing "F3, left click to move" for each unit, you want us to press "F3, use mouse to scroll down, find the option and read the command 'Move to', press middle mouse button, then start over again for 9 more units?!?!?!" HA! Not happening, sorry.. ARGH.. I hate it! Someone please, just throw it away! An option, a mod, a script Argh! Anything! And another thing, if you click on a town all the way across the map, if theres a damn vehicle within 100 meters of the location (That you cannot see!), the order is given to automatically GET INTO the vehicle, NO I did not give that order.. oh well, (sarcasm) but technically I did but because its "dynamic" its automatically selected... (/sarcasm) I have to manually AGAIN scroll down for each movement to "Move to"... argh that is so annoying! I control each of my AI's movements so they are always in the right position. When I take a town in a game like Warfare or any mission for that matter, they are always up against the sides of the building, or against trees or bushes, which require fine tuning each AI's individual movements. Instead of taking 5 seconds, it now takes 30+ seconds. It's so much more clunky and annoying I can't begin to express how much I hate it. /rant. Controlling AI used to be almost fun to some extent. With Arma2, this once fast and fluent process is now clunky, slow, and a painfully retarded process that really needs to be addressed. -

When I bought my chopper, I took out the pilot, ran him over and took his :) But after yall told me where Lopotev was, and how he ended up shooting at me the first 10 times I saw him, and after the chopper glitched when landing a few times, and after it landing he wouldn't get into the car with me and after I couldn't find the base before yall posted where it was... I just got too impatient after hours and hours of trying to figure it out... I just skipped the mission... just like Badlands... -

I managed to get Lopotev (which in and of itself was crazy because he always shot at me), but I feel that if I don't distroy the ChDKZ base first, it will glitch out before the mission end. Dvolk said he "Randomly" shot somewhere. Does anyone know where this spot is?? -

NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Another bugged Mission!!!?!?! DAMNIT BIS! I thought After Manhatten and Dogs of War I wouldn't be having MORE problems with these missions. I was trying to get back into the 'feel' the story was trying to create...well damnit.. heh! Good try, but epic failure BIS. The campaign has been taking way the hell too damn long so any attempt for BIS to patch it will, in the end, be pointless as I sure as hell wont be playing it again. -
I have done this mission twice, spending over 13 hours on this mission. Receiving both script errors and map errors, resulting in reverting to earlier saves only to get the same result OR to get no results at all. I'll be posting a lot of pictures, information, a video on everything that was done. Edit: You can skip the mission? THANK YOU GOD! Jesus this mission was so bad I swear I don't know what was BIS thinking when they were making it... I don't think they even tested it...or with Manhattan.

Unable to complete Badlands.
BLSmith2112 replied to Drake3571's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Which makes me wonder... The only objective left then is the "Conquer the region". I reread the briefing, there are no more towns for us to capture that we haven't already captured. Do you need to leave one town uncaptured before doing that mission? But the mission you get for the Assassination is in Noboy Sobor, the right most and furthest town away. So the mission esssentially tells you to capture the towns in order from left to right, not to skip one and do the assassination mission first. I drove past all of the main town bunkers and camps. I went back to HQ and to the people who drove up to your base and asked for help in a white car. Now what? Heh! -

ArmA 2 Buglist - Content related bugs only
BLSmith2112 replied to Red_153D's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
1. When there is dialog, you cannot move your units. These conversations last 30-120 seconds and during this time 30 enemy troops are closing in on your little Razor team. They die constantly and there is nothing you can do about it. Please allow the user to interrupt the dialog to move their units. 2. When using Binoculars, if you give your an an attack order while using them - your player puts the Binoculars downward at a 45' degree angle. The user has to click multiple times in order to fix this issue. The user should be able to issue multiple attack orders with the Binoculars zoomed in. 3. Map cannot zoom in close enough for precise movement. For a game that advertised centimeter precision, I have no idea why we cannot zoom in further for more precise unit movements. 4. When moving 10+ units on the map from your squad, it is impossible to know what unit is where. Previously in Arma1, you gave a unit a waypoint and their number displayed on the waypoint. In Arma2, you see nothing. You have to guess. This makes it impossible to coordinate an ambush or strike with your own squad. 5. When selecting your units and clicking on a vehicle in-game, sometimes the order "Get in" is given, and sometimes the order "Board" is given. How can you determine which order is given? Left clicking at different times is completely random. I'd like to be able to do both but having it be random is a really bad idea. 6. Telling a unit to get into a URAL or any other vehicle with extra space many times results in the unit saying "NEGATIVE" even though there is plenty space for the unit to get into the car. 7. While driving 7 mph on a road, I turned to the right and one of the Razor team members died because of the bump. 8. For some reason when I get into ANY vehicle, the tires are automatically turned to the right. I sit in the car, not touching anything for 15 seconds and the tires automatically fix themselves. If I try to drive and fix the wheels myself, they automatically move back.. 9. Was it intentional to set the player to duck down and begin moving again when using the map? List of Bugs (Lots of Spoilers)

Nothing like seeing a white painted blue-man-group guy running around blinding you in the middle of the night making your NVGs darker as he stays close in formation. Thats a big issue for me as well. -
Do units HAVE to get into vehicles when moving to position on map?
BLSmith2112 posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
Alright, you want to move your men to strategic positions around a building down range into the town. If you click anywhere within a 50-100m radius of that car, you are forced to make that unit get into it as driver/gunner etc. Is there anyway to make them 'move' to that position but not make them get into the car? Like a work around? Or do we have to wait and hopefully have BIS recognize its something that should be addressed? Because I cannot stress enough how annoying that has been so far in this campaign. The towns in the campaign have at least 1-2 cars and when you want to clear the town, if you use the map to move your units around, your units are given the command to get into cars quite often...instead of moving building to building as they should be. You can't see the vehicle on the map, you can't see your units waypoint, you cant see your units number at its waypoint, your forced to make your units get into vehicles you don't want them to get into... argh.. this is a wonderful AI commanding experience. -
Do units HAVE to get into vehicles when moving to position on map?
BLSmith2112 replied to BLSmith2112's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - TROUBLESHOOTING
So you cant just click anymore? You have to go into the action menu and waste time with all that now? Wonderful :) ..At least, there is a way around it. I noticed it while selecting the unit and looking at the radio. Thanks. -
Manhatten insurgent camps / main base.
BLSmith2112 replied to thedudesam's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - OFFICIAL MISSIONS
Um... When I get to the Insurgent Base, The LAV shows up but I have no "Communication" option to tell it to attack. Nore do I have any option to call in artillery.. Now what? -
ARGH Manhatten is making me GO INSANE. 6 Hours into the mission I realize that early on something quietly bugged out and it took me to do my last objective to find out. WHOOHOO! Those "Clear the Sentry" things in the forests made me go nuts. I checked, rechecked, checked and checked again... sweep after sweep and it still said no sentrys were clear... wtf... I ended up taking the Women's Red Hachback without knowing it was hers so she was running across the map between two towns.. so I'll never find her. My AI are now in position: 000000 and in space. If I change to my AI's location (00000) the game crashes. WOOHOOO! And I swear to God if I hear that radio annoucement loop again I'm going to rip my hair out of my skull in madness. "ERGA AIR.." "ERGA AIR.." "ERGA AIR.." "ERGA AIR.." ARGH!

After the integrity check. A restart of steam and my PC. The game has made it to the main menu. Thanks. I hope this is let known to others.. I was absolutely ravid about what just happened. I'll be checking other steam threads in the near future about modded files, mod folders, addons, etc. Assuming steam wont detect them as "corrupt data". -

Lol. Placeholders for what? Arma3? Aren't placeholders placeholders for a reason? Were they planning to put them in when they finished the game?
