I've used both ATI and Nvidia drivers and I encountered more issues with Nvidia than with ATI. I tested both 2 GTX 295 in Quad-SLI with the latest drivers and my current setup of 2 4870 X2's in CrossfireX with 9.2 Catalysts and found that ATI's drivers are more superior. What kind of company releases new drivers every week or so can be considered to have decent drivers . Core i7 is and will continue to be an expensive option. You need to buy a new motherboard , triple channel ddr3 memory , core i7 cpu. A good configuration there would cost roughly (according to newegg prices) : <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> Qty.  Product Description  Savings  Total Price   CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C8D   CORSAIR DOMINATOR 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TR3X6G1600C8D - Retail   Item #: N82E16820145224   Return Policy: Limited Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy -$15.00 Instant   $214.00   $199.00   ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard   ASUS P6T Deluxe V2 LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail   Item #: N82E16813131365   Return Policy: Limited Non-Refundable 30-Day Return Policy   Protect Your Investment (expand for options|hide options)     Service Net Replacement Extended Warranty Plan       The product will be replaced and shipped directly to you at no charge(more info13-131-365.0.18)         * 1 year: $34.99         * 2 year: $59.99   $289.99   Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920   Intel Core i7 920 Nehalem 2.66GHz LGA 1366 130W Quad-Core Processor Model BX80601920 - Retail   Item #: N82E16819115202   Return Policy: Processors (CPUs) Return Policy   Protect Your Investment (expand for options|hide options)     Service Net Replacement Extended Warranty Plan       The product will be replaced and shipped directly to you at no charge(more info19-115-202.0.18)         * 1 year: $34.99         * 2 year: $59.99 -$14.99 Saving   $288.99   $274.00 1   Intel Gift   Intel Gift - Retail   Item #: N82E16800995068   Return Policy: Standard Return Policy   $14.99 Subtotal: $777.98 There is no 4970 available (wait till April), so i think you mean the 4870.

Most motherboards support 6 SATA ports not 8. I'm pretty sure you must be confusing 2 additional ports for E-SATA as SATA. Take a look at the Gigabyte X58 Extreme it has 6 sata ports and 4 E-SATA ports. I may be wrong but I am pretty sure no motherboards support more than 6 SATA devices at a time.

This part is quite difficult. Move as fast as you can towards the offices at the left and kill any enemies that are there. Then move through the offices and kill any more enemies you encounter then move to where it is showing on the map concerning waypoints and then wait. M1014 isn't as quite useful here as the M4A1.

Gonna try out patch 1.2 as soon as I can. Seems like patches will keep coming and coming. I'm waiting for them to enable SLI/Crossfire.
-
GTX 295 is "SLI" on two-pcb's and ArmA doesn't support SLI as you said . So GTX 285 is indeed the better choice because it is a die shrink GTX 280 and a single card solution. It's funny Infamous mentioned the GTX 295 and then mentioned the SLI when that recommendation was poorly researched because his statement contradicts what he said.
-
Nothing amazing or spectacular. Just a movie of GTA IV mission. Notice the lag and the texture quality . It's not bad but it just reminds me of ingame play and nothing more.
-
That's ok ch_123. I agree I personally wouldn't add a second GTX 280 or a pair of them because ArmA doesn't support SLI/CrossfireX like other games do. Even then in certain games the performance is not justified while in others its when you run 30" LCD's. It's an expensive delight for little to no performance gain. I am just frustrated Balschiow cannot understand he cannot SLI with that power supply.
-
Why do you keep thinking that you are right when I told you specifically that SLI or TRI-SLI with that power supply will be inadequate. I think its bad research on you're part because YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO SLI A GTX 280 on a 700W power supply. . I don't care about you're measurements if you want to SLI a GTX 280 you need a higher wattage model than the one you have.
-
Yes. I don't disagree with what you said about a 700W being powerful enough for a single GTX 280 but Balschoiw said: Clearly he didn't do his research because if he wants to add a second or third nvidia gtx 280 or go 285 sli/tri-sli in the future he would need a new power supply because 700W is not enough for multiple video card configs.
-
I don't think you can add a second GTX 280 with that power supply. You need at minimum a 750W-800W (800 to be on the safe side). I disagree and agree here. If you have the money for a high-end system you can go ahead and spend that cash but no matter how much money you spend eventually it's value and 'cutting edge' status will make it archaic and obsolete. Welcome to the club of S478 systems . Except I no longer am using my S478 system I replaced it with a i7 965 system. Although I do regret the amount of money spent on the system when I could have built a similar performer using slightly less expensive components. On a side note specifically ask for the Q9550 to be E0 stepping and C1 stepping. They have numerous revisions and run cooler and overclock even better than the C1 Q9550's.

I wanted to have a case that does not interfere with longer cards or produces problems with fans that are too close to slots. That´s why I selected that case. I can´t see what´s wrong with the 700 W BeQuiet powersupply.  Please explain. I will see what it will be capable of as I´ll get it tomorrow. That´s the overclocking done by manufacturer. Of course they don´t go to the max as they give guarantee on the machine with oc´ed speeds. It will be my personal pleasure to find the limit.  My favourite choices for cases come from Antec and Cooler Master. Thermaltake cases look cheap and poorly made and the Shark is archaic (why not go for the Armor+ , Spedo ?). I always use the following brands for power supplies: Corsair , PC Power and Cooling and Thermaltake. Never had any problems with any of the above. Why not overclock it you'reself instead of having a beginner overclock upon which you can improve upon?.
-
Armed Assault performance should be good to decent. Don't even expect to run GTA IV maxed out. It's intended for future hardware. My only concern is the 750i chipset in you're case I would have gone with a P45 chipset or an X48. I generally steer clear from the nForce chipsets. Also the manufacturer/supplier saved some money with the power supply and case. That overclock is just pathetic from 2.83ghz to 3.33 that's practically nothing and under watercooling.
-
Well if money is no object you can buy an X48 express chipset motherboard such as the Asus Rampage Formula or if you wish to switch over to the P45 express chipset you can look at the Maximus II formula. Of course those are great motherboards but if you wish to economize and save some money you can look at motherboards from ASUS/GIGABYTE or EVGA/XFX (780i/790i).

If you had bothered to search you would know THERE IS a SA-2 in a mod. What a shock and what a surprise.
-
Not with that video card. Good luck playing with that video card. Upgrade it to a 4850 or 4870 (1GB variants). Also I'd upgrade the memory to 4GB as I have seen GTA IV use way more than 2GB.

That's far from being a new system. Please report you're specifications properly using this as a guide: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....t=76802 Edit: I just installed Operation Flashpoint on this high end Core i7 system and let me just say OFP is not optimized to take advantage of newer hardware. If I raise the terrain quality to very high and I move the mouse or look around quickly I experience massive lag. The textures also seem to be rendered poorly even on maximum texture detail setting.

How to Properly Report You're System Specification
Supernova posted a topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I have seen so many generic specifications these days and in this forums that I decided to make a topic devoted to it. First thing you should do is download CPU-Z (http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php) and make sure to report back what it states including motherboard , memory type/speed/configuration , cpu etc... Next download GPU-Z (http://www.techpowerup.com/gpuz/) and also include that information it displays. This is the format that should be used: CPU: Motherboard (include BIOS): Video Card (and drivers version): Memory(as CPU-Z states): Hard Drive(optional): Optical Drive(optional): Power Supply(you have to open you're case or look at packaging): Case(look at packaging or find box): Soundcard: Operating System: Also you may wish to include whether the system is overclocked and which components are overclocked. -
[ZG]BUZZARD in that case I recommend you to make sure the CPU is E0 stepping. On the Intel box it should show SLB8V that indicates that it is a E0 stepping. They generally use less power , overclock better and are a revision from C1 to E0.

Yes it does reduce the lifecycle but that really depends on how you overclock the cpu. If you want to get a high overclock stable you often need to add more voltage to the cpu. This will reduce the cpu's life cycle. Otherwise the life cycle won't really be affected as drastically. Nvidia chipsets generally are horrible just read up on the 780i and the 790i corruption problems etc... Sure they were fixed with BIOS update's but at a later time and Nvidia refused to even admit there was any problems. I don't know about that particular motherboard but I remember from the eVGA 680i. Â If you want to also upgrade you're motherboard take a look at the P45 or X48 chipset. That's what I would do I would upgrade the motherboard and the CPU and still have a relatively future-proof system (disregarding the fact there is socket 1366). I always like to think of overclocking as getting a free cpu upgrade. Take for example you have a QX9650 just brand new and then a few months later a QX9770 is released. You can overclock to the QX9770 (a .20ghz difference) for absolutely free and since the QX has an unlocked multiplier no touching fsb's or voltage will be required.

That's a great cpu the E6600 but it's built on the older 65nm's technology. If you really want to move to a dual core I would suggest the new wolfdale's like the E8600 (if you're motherboard can support as it is a 680i SLI chipset and I remember reading the trouble they have with 45nm cpu's). Generally dual cores still outperform most quad cores in gaming (except i7's) because 'most' games still use only 2 cores but that trend is decreasing. If you want a great quad core I would advise the Q9450 or the Q9550 (E0) stepping. There is nothing wrong with Vista I'm running it and I don't have any complaints. http://www.asus.com/product....lmenu=1 What are you afraid of ?. Unless you overvolt the cpu you wont nuke the cpu. The best model of the Q6600 is the G0 stepping. I would recommend a better quad core such as the Q9450/Q9550(E0 stepping). I myself had a similar processor to what you had in an AGP system and I recently upgraded to a top-tier i7 965 Extreme edition build.

Thanks I still found it useful. I was just asking this question because I remember back in the day on my S478 system had most of the power savings options disabled and that system has lasted years. Btw I'm looking forward to checking out the GTX 285 and 295 in January along with the Phenom II's.
-
ch_123 what are you're thoughts on Intel Speedstep and C1E in the bios. Should they be enabled or disabled for non overclocked cpu's.
-
Excuse me but you know very little. It's only a matter of time before either Syria or Iran decide to do something about this situation. It could many options and one of them would be to send volunteers (ex 2006 lebanon war) or provide military support through illegal shipments of armanents etc...
-
And how could they improve their situation by shooting rockets and grenades at Israeli civilians? On the other hand, if they manage to bring thousands of rockets into Gaza, where is the problem to bring food in instead? The problem is that Hamas only interest is to fight Israel. Ever thought on what the market price for those thousands of missiles would be? They get them for free maybe, but only to use them against Israel. With a terrorist group in charge over Gaza, the situation can`t improve. You're comment make me laugh. You sound like a zionist supporter. Hamas has every right to defend it's lands from Israel and that includes the use of force. Also anyone defending Israel's attack on Gaza is a zionist supporter.

How to Properly Report You're System Specification
Supernova replied to Supernova's topic in ARMA - TROUBLESHOOTING
I still wouldn't exclude the case. After all you can have a grand case with plenty of airflow and have lots of warm air buildup because it is under a desk. I also think that the users should report whether or not their video cards are also in Crossfire or SLI mode and whether those video cards are overclocked , video card bios etc...
