Has anyone tried the newer builds especially Build 7200 or Build 7201 ?

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.

Just received my copy. Playing with the German to English patch. It is possible to max out Arma 2 I am getting fps in Chernogorsk (Red Autumn mission) from high 25's to 30's range and possibly higher. This is with EVERYTHING maxed out. Specifications in signature. I am genuinely impressed with Arma 2 and on this graphic level and settings it's just beautiful. -

Ever heard of the Radeon HD 4870 2GB model or the 4890 ;). -
The human eye cannot distinguish beyond 60fps so It doesn't matter. Some would say it is more smooth but how can they can they tell if we cannot distinguish details beyond 60fps.

. Another case/example where moderators think they can have a powertrip.

1. I never believe what reviews usually say unless there is a pattern emerging in many reviews that point to usually the same figures. 2. Newegg reviews you have to be kidding me. Thats one of the worst sources for reviews ever. 3. That Phenom II review you linked was a PREVIEW benchmark and it showed the 940 model which is AM2+. The 955 model I showed you is on a new socket (AM3+) and can use either DDR2/DDR3. 4. You will never use that 1000W anyway. You bought it before consulting us so you might us well use it. 5. Not a bad experience but horrible experience. Many others who are serious computer enthusiasts and don't care about plastic looking POS Thermaltake cases will agree that the top three are Antec, Cooler Master and Lian Li. -
It's quite typical that BIS would make a campaign where the player is on the side of the West. What is so hard about making the player represent the East for once. I would love to have a campaign in Arma II where you play as the Russian Federation Armed Forces instead of the USMC.

Actually RV870 and R800 won't be appearing this summer nor will GT300 be appearing as well. Q4 for RV870/R800 and Q4 2009/Q1 2010 for GT300. Don't believe me well look it up. Because EvilNate didn't do his research for the system. He cannot properly identify the motherboard or even give preliminary choices for his upcoming build. That's why he came here and asked us to build a system for him. I spent a good amount of time before I built my system researching my components well in advance. Don't get me wrong I think my i7 system is a great investment but it's really overhyped and I can't tell any difference between my Phenom II 955 comparison system. Auzentech don't have terrible drivers and if you have ever owned an Auzentech sound card you will realize that.
-
You want to go I7 and yet you didn't even do the proper research required. Forget about going i7 just go Phenom II. CPU - Forget about the 965 EE or the 975 EE. Unless you plan on overclocking with Phase Cooling or Liquid helium/nitrogen then those 965 EE's and 975 EE's will hit a wall at 4ghz. I had a 965 EE and I replaced it with my current D0 stepping 920 and I've been running 4ghz 24/7 stable. VGA - I'd recommend pairing up 2 ATI Radeon HD 4890's in Crossfire. MOBO - The motherboard is called P6T and it has many variants and it's made by Asus not P4T. SOUND CARD- I use the Auzentech X-Fi Forte. It's one of the best audiophile sound cards out there on the market and it's relatively cheap too. HDD - SSD's are the best out there but they are expensive and cost more as the capacity and speed increases. I'd recommend holding out on SSD's till next year when Windows 7 will be released and SSD's will have fallen in price by then. Bottom line: You want an I7 system and yet didn't even do preparatory research. I'd recommend going with a Phenom II system configuration as the i7's aren't really better at gaming than their previous counterparts. Phenom II 955 almost matches a I7 920 and yet overall system cost with a Phenom II 955 is lower so you get excellent price/performance for your buck.

Claiming that the GTX 275 outperforms the 4890 is incorrect. Poor choice for motherboard and memory. Not to mention you don't need a 1000W power supply unless you are running an overclocked system with quad-sli or tri-sli. My pair of 4850 X2's weren't that loud as you claim it to be. It's just nvidia fanboys trying to scare you off when Nvidia themselves had made video cards that sound like true leaf blowers and let me tell you my pair of GTX 295's aren't quiet either. Thermaltake makes among the worst cases ever they are too cheap looking and the build quality is utter crap. You want a good case go for the cases made by Cooler Master, Antec or Lian Li. -

Yes I did. I had a hard time finding the D0 920 as the suppliers mostly had C0's. I was able to find a guaranteed D0 stepping chip and let me say it over clocks much better than my previous 965 C0. I need little voltages to reach my 24/7 4.0ghz and I find that there is a small temperature difference. It's still quite a power hog but this new stepping is really for overclockers as it overclocks better. -

@ch_123 I can run Arma on maximum settings and still have smooth and fluid gameplay with no noticeable slowdowns or lag. OFP doesn't take advantage of my new hardware but I can still set it to maximum. -
Two words: after release. Release only had US campaign Red Hammer eventually came but after release it wasn't in the initial version that was RTM. It's the same scenario all over here again. Always focusing on the West and BI is an Eastern European developer and yet strict Western focus. As for the language debate it should be as follows: language spoken should be strictly that language that the player's faction/side represents. (Ex Russian). Not English with Russian accent but Russian. Subtitles should be included.
-
I'd recommend a HD 4890 instead.
-
I hope that wasn't a serious response. You cannot have tri-channel on any other socket or chipset than LGA1366/X58.
-
Are you joking right ? You want to build a PC with Dell ?. Do you simply have money to throw away or you cannot assemble a system by yourself ?

I'm surprised there is very few units. I was expecting alot more from BIS. The Russians have the T-90A Vladimir but they don't have the T-80BV or the T-80U. I'd also like to see more aviation units and there should be a BMP-1P and BMD's (BMD-1P,BMD-2,BMD-3,BMD-4). Where is the BTR-80 and BTR-80A also ?. It doesn't make much sense why they chose to include the Ka-50 and Ka-52 when the Mi-28N is in greater quantities entering Russian military service than the Ka-50 and Ka-52. There is no M1126 Stryker also I see. I agree maybe an Il-76MD and An-12 would be excellent to see ingame.

Incorrect the QX9750 is an ES and it is not clocked at 3.33ghz the only differences being it is clocked less than a QX9770 and having E0 stepping. http://valid.canardpc.com/cache/screenshot/502476.png @MehMan: Most high-end systems generate some noise. If you don't want noise go for passive cooling or make a HTPC. Otherwise you have to live with it.
-
Quad-Fire is 4 AMD/ATI GPU's. Quad-SLI is the proper term !.
-
@Sickboy, A. There is no C2Q model that is stock clocked at 3.3ghz unless you are referring to the E8600 which is a C2D. B. You have power saving options enabled which most overclockers turn off and you also have Turbo Mode enabled. C. It's been widely known that i7 systems generally perform better with AMD video cards such as the HD 4890's. D. You aren't fully stable until you run Prime 95 and SuperPI and OCCT for a while and there are no errors. E. I did not notice any difference between my i7 920 (D0) @ 4.0ghz and my cross-platform comparison Phenom II X4 955 BE @ 4.0ghz. I'd say both the 920 and the 955 are great bangs for bucks but it all depends on the tasks and requirements of the user. The core i7 is mainly directed towards those who rely heavily on multi-threaded applications and media creation tasks.

I extract the res data3d.pbo but I don't know how to apply the texture to the w3d files i see in odol explorer. It says file\data\****.pac not found. Where do I put the pac files etc... ?

Stop speaking nonsense. There is no 4890 with a 2GB frame buffer unless you were referring to the Vapor-X 4870 (Sapphire) that has a 2GB frame buffer on a non-reference 4870 model. 4890's come in 1GB frame buffers not 2GB. The GTX 285 does not come in 2GB frame buffers either (other than a certain non-reference model by Palit and also a non-reference model by Galaxy). I don't know where you are making up this information but you are misinforming those with little to no knowledge on this subject. The extra 1GB in the Palit GTX 285 does not make any difference in gaming as shown with the Vapor-X 2GB 4870. You still have dual channel memory bandwidth but overclocking as others said will be harder to achieve. The more DIMM slots that are filled up the higher the stress on the CPU and the IMC which makes it harder to get a stable overclock.
-
The memory controller (QPI) is overclockable. I know because you can set the IMC to run at 7.2Gt/s and even higher without any side effects. That's a pretty low overclock even if it is a C0/C1 chip you should overclock it a bit higher. I'm surprised you didn't do that overclock on the stock cooler. Looks like a nice configuration although I don't see the point in running a 1000W on a single GTX 280.
-
I agree. I feel that the amount of vehicles/aircraft for both sides is lacking. Where are the BMD's. They include the BTR-90 but not BTR-80A or BMD-4.
