I placed my order with them. They were the only retailer to sell Soviet Assault when I was looking for it. I'll keep you guys posted when I receive the English version as I am dreading I got the German version and didn't wait for the English release.

EB Games has it listed for the 29th of June. http://www.ebgames.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=75135

Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
Supernova replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
Well from what I have heard by the time ARMA 2 for Europe/US is released there will be a Patch version 1.02 for the German version available and possibly also for the English language Arma 2 so it's fair to say that the 505 release will come with Patch 1.01 built into the game already. I read something about that on this forum here. Sorry I cannot link back to where I read it there is too much topics and info here on the forums. -

It's going to come with Patch 1.01 which only offers minor performance improvements from what I have noticed. Regardless I will be also picking up the 505 Release to compare with my German release. -
Look at the specs over and over again and the reviews and you will realize that the GTX 295 is a GTX 260 in SLI. This isn't the thread for arguing over the internet about hardware.
-
Obviously you have no idea what you are talking about. Look at the total memory size, bandwidth size and other factors. It's a GTX 260 coupled with GTX 280 stream processors. Just so that you know those articles you link don't help your case and if you bothered to check a GTX 260 Core 216 SLI setup in certain cases outperforms a single GTX 295.
-
You should know that a GTX 295 consists of two GTX 260's not the 275.

First off CPU benchmarks are always usually run at lower resolutions than the resolutions suggested by OP. In some cases they are run at 1024x768 or even lower. This on the other hand is suggested to be run at resolutions higher than that which means it is GPU limited. There are about five tests in this synthetic benchmark but from what I have seen all the tests run in this thread favor an Intel processor more than an AMD processor. How can I see this well if an stock clocked i7 920 user scores much higher than a stock clocked AMD Phenom II X4 955 then there is obviously something wrong. Think about it how can there be such a discreptancy between Intel and AMD processors in the benchmark. Until I'm proven otherwise wrong I call this benchmark flawed and not a real indicator of real word performance.
-
Perhaps because in most of the reviews I have read the Phenom II X4 955 has been able to keep up with the i7 920 in most if not all gaming tests. Then we see contrary results posted by this biased synthetic benchmark. This benchmark doesn't accurately system overclocks.
-
Or perhaps this benchmark is biased towards Intel processors.

I just noticed Track03 First to Fight is the same one used for the Russian Federation Armed Forces Trailer along with many other tracks used for trailers and videos to promote this game.

I second that. You will be lucky to achieve playable fps on the lowest settings. It's time for an upgrade. -
Have any fellow i7 users tried turning off HT and seeing if that improves your score or ingame fps ?

I know how to request the UH-1Y but when I board the Venom it does nothing. I am at the mission just after the CDF traitor and I wanted to see if I could fly from the commander to the Star base in Elektrovodsk. I and my team board the Venom but nothing happens other than engines turn on.

Never mind I've fixed the problem.

I'd swap out the GTX 275 for a HD 4890 and I would also get the ASUS MA49-DELUXE motherboard coupled with the Phenom II X4 955 BE. -

Maybe you don't understand but a Synthetic benchmark is useless. So what if it is the only 'synthetic' benchmark out there today. It still doesn't mean squat really. It's basically a loop using pre-determined missions and settings. There isn't better performance simply because not all of the cores are being utilized. Basing any decisions on a synthetic benchmark is useless. Infact Arma 2 is not optimized for the Core i7 and buying Core i7 SIMPLY for gaming is just a waste of cash really. -
Who cares about this synthetic benchmark. It means nothing really and is more of an e-peen competition rather.

Your going to need to overclock that i7 a good amount otherwise you probably won't see noticeable gains. Also who cares about some flawed benchmark that is really synthetic. If you changed your mind based of a benchmark that is just unwise and you should really reconsider. I think it's pretty decent but I'd switch the Phenom II 940 to the Phenom II X4 955 and pick up a Radeon HD 4890. I'd also suggest getting 4GB of DDR3-1333 or DDR2-1066 depending if you want to use the 955 in an AM3 motherboard or AM2+ motherboard. -

Depends on map and the location but I think 30fps is a realistic expectation @ high. -

What do you think. I cannot believe you are asking such a question. The higher the resolution goes the more powerful graphics card(s) you need and possibly the lower settings you have to use. -
I had high hopes for this game and then when I see the gameplay videos and the lack of realism it really makes me wonder how they could have turned it into another COD4. But also I'd like to mention that in Arma 2 I shot my fellow fireteam members in the head and they were alright though bleeding as well so I don't think you can judge OFP:DR based off that if Arma 2 handles it the same way.

Depends on the settings you want to run the game at. I accept nothing less than running any game at it's maximum. Get yourself a better video card. The GTS 250 is nothing more than a rebranded 9800 GTX that has slightly better clocks and a smaller nanometer process. If I were you I'd consider the GTX 275 or the Radeon HD 4890. -

Core i7 is for those who can afford a new platform (triple channel memory , new lga 1366 motherboard , lga 1366 core i7 cpu) and specifically those who aren't avid gamers as you might have guessed Core i7 isn't specifically targeted for those who are gamers. I cannot really tell you how a i7 920 would compare to a E8600 because I have never owned an E8600. If you want to upgrade I would recommend a Phenom II X4 955 specifically for games. http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/cpus/2009/04/23/amd-phenom-ii-x4-955-black-edition-cpu-am3/1 Perhaps that can help you. -
Thank you.
