Also the Javelin AT missile is suppose to be capable of targeting aircraft (in direct fire mode) as well as tanks and bunkers (top attack mode). Don't believe me? Read the last paragraph here... http://www.army-technology.com/projects/javelin/

Awsome island.... but this guy obviously isn't a pilot, otherwise he wouldn't have put a village at the end of the runway!!!! But then again OFP isn't that great for fixed wing aircraft anyway. Still it is fun to watch the AI crash their planes through someone's house.

Here is the problem that I have.... If the picture doesn't come up, then you can see it on this link... OFPEC forum I tried turning up my settings, but the problem won't go away.... I don't know what else to do.... it's an awsome addon, but it simply doesn't work right on my CPU. -

I still have the LOD problem where the tracks and wheels aphear 2 dimensional. Turning up the LOD bar doesn't seem to help. Also if you really wanted to get fancy, you would make the turret fly off when it gets destroyed. I heard someone say that the turret wouldn't fly off an APC in real life. Flying off could only be caused by detonation of large caliber ammunition cook off (the bradley only carries 25mm), but I think this is untrue. The turret could easily fly off when shaped charge warhead penetrates the armour and creates over-pressure inside the tank, causing the seal between turret and hull to break. Another small issue. In real life the Javelin is capable of targeting aircraft as well as tanks and bunkers. this link proves my point. http://www.army-technology.com/projects/javelin/ Towards the bottom it says that in direct fire mode the Javelin is used against bunkers buildings and helicopters. Top attack mode is used against tanks because they have thinner armour on top. Realistically though you probably couldn't take out an SU-25 or Mig-29 unless they are landing or taking off. They're just too fast for a fat slow AT missile, but a Hind or Hip shouldn't be any problem for the Javelin. -
The OFP year 2003 mod most likely isn't compatible with some of the BAS Tonal pack stuff. The best way to avoid this problem is to seperate your mods into mod folders. IE have a folder titled Y2K3mod with all your ofp year 2003 mod addons and config file, and then have another folder BASmod with all the BAS and BAS Tonal stuff. You will experience far fewer problems this way if you don't mix all of your mods into your addons folder. you should probably find a tutorial on OFP mod folders by doing a search on Yahoo or Google...

I still have the problem with 2 dimensional road wheels. No I will not raise the LOD bar, OFP is laggy enough as it is. -
If anyone here is following the "Super Config" project you will see that pappy boyington has made a completely new game out of OFP by substituting the outdated low resolution BIS models for newer flashier addons. One example was that he substituted the BIS MI-24 CSLA mod's improved, higher detail MI-24 (which also has retractable landing gear). Another subtitute which is in the talks is a real Russian made DSHK in place of the East side M2 machine gun. Also newer AKs and M-16s with improved looking gunsight views have been substituted for the BIS models. Also the ECP mod is used which gives improved explosions and makes use of chopper dust scripts. Also we have replaced the old cold war crisis era Everon with an updated version that features high resolution vegitation taken from Nogova. On my CPU I even have a new version of Kulgujev that replaces the old kulgujev vegitation with new Nogova vegitation. Anyway playing OFP with all these new improvements is like playing a whole new game. So here was my thought.... What if BIS released a whole new official update pack that made improvements like this permanent? The pack would include updated versions of the old pre resistance islands, and new higher detailed replacements for a lot of the standard BIS weapons and vehicles, and new sounds. This way everyone could enjoy a completely revamped OFP that would make everyone start playing OFP again, and put Battle Field 1942 back on the shelf. In reality BIS wouldn't have to do much. All they would have to do is ask the mod' out there like CSLA and FDF if they can use their models and textures in an official pack (with recognition for their work from BIS of course). All BIS would have to do is make a pack that would update the existing files, tweak the config.bin file, and put it up for download as version 1.97 or something like that.... The idea is to make OFP (which is getting old now) competitive with newer games like BF1942 (personally I like OFP better). With new models and textures, BF1942 can't stand up against OFP in my opinion. Does this sound interesting to anyone?

My LOD setting is at about halfway. I refuse to set it any higher because of heavy lag that is encountered when flying aircraft. I wish he would just make a better low LOD model. -

Does anyone else have visual problems with the Bradleys? When I get out and look at the Bradley (even up close) all the tracks and road wheels are 2 dimensional. Even the spare tire that is mounted to the turret is 2 dimensional, and you can see right through the bottom of it. It looks quite rediculous. Personally I would rather use the BIS Bradely. Does anyone else have this problem? Also I get an error message when firing TOWs, but I think that is because this pack isn't compatible with the ECP mod. Oh and by the way I have the same setup Shadow. I have mod folders for WWII, Vietnam, USA, FDF Russia, Resistance, Gulfwar, Civilian, and Sci-Fi. The civillian mod folder mostly has race cars. I even went so far as to split up all the campaigns (even BIS campaigns) into their appropriate mod folders so that their large size would not affect the other mods. I wish that I could split up all my missions into mod folders (so that you can't see vietnam missions when opening WWII mod shortcut). Unfortunately I think that it is too late for BIS to fix this. Hopefully it will be addressed in OFP2. -

Hey Pappy great work but.... you gotta package the updated night vision goggles from wgl with your mod. I can't tell you what a difference this makes with night fighting. Since your updating OFP to modern warfare anyway, you might as well ditch the old 1980s era NVGs. If you read the post above mine, they tell you exactly how to add the new NVGs. It took me like 30 seconds to do. -

That was some grizzly shit about the TOW / Sabot in real life..... I heard of a guy in Gulf War 1 who reported they fired a TOW 1 that passed through a BMP and destroyed a T-72 beside it.... Anyway my post is about the LOD problem with the Bradley pack. All the road wheels and spare wheels are 2 dimensional not 3 dimensional. The BIS M2 looks better on my CPU in comparison. I suppose that I could get rid of this problem by turning up the LOD slider in the OFP preferences. However I keep it low to combat heavy lag when flying aircraft (I don't own a frickin super computer). Please make a better low LOD model. -

Having a longer barrel does NOT guarantee that a rifle or machine gun will have better accuracy. Longer barrels only increase muzzle velocity. However machine guns should be more accurate when firing long sustained bursts in the prone position because of the bipod and heavy weight of the gun (which reduces the effects of recoil). -

I have a new idea. Â I'm not sure that you all will like it, but what if we did this.... split the mod up into 2 mod folders. Â One for Y2K3 online and the other for Y2K3 offline. Â This way you could have a ton of replacement addons in the offline version (ie MI-28, BTR-T, BMP-3, 2S6 TUNGUSKA, ADATS) but still have an updated OFP that you can play online with minimum conflicts.... Just an idea. Â All you need to do is copy all your addons from the Y2k3 mod folder into a Y2K3 online folder, and then have a seperate config file, and shortcut for the online version.... What do you guys think? -

I see your point about the armed vehicles, but then.... aren't we already cheating? Because the West spec ops now have a silenced M-4 with scope in place of the MP-5 with iron sights. So.... doesn't that give you an unfair advantage in MP? I'm starting to think that it isn't such a good idea to use this mod in regular OFP MP. In fact just consider the fact that the Everon that we are playing on is remodeled completely different from the original Everon. And the soldiers have altered camoflage that blends in differently with the surronding foliage. Any cheater could download super config, de-pbo the files, give all the soldiers white textures, re-pbo everything and when they play online all their enemies would be wearing bright white uniforms. I think that we need to make the super config mod a full blown mod as soon as it leaves beta stage, and start up some new servers where super config is a required download to play. On the plus side, we wouldn't have to make changes to the missions we already play to use our new addons thanks to all of pappy's work In short if your too busy to read all the above I think Super config should NOT be played online against people who don't have super config mod. Only play on-line if all players have super config Also I would still like to see a Russian DSHK heavy machine gun replace the East M2 machine gun. -

Hey. Â Once again awsome job breathing new life into OFP. Â Something to concider for future super config versions: Â Over at OFP CZ I saw in the news that a guy named Rudedog is making a really cool Bradley pack with all new models and textures. Â This might be a good candidate to replace the BIS Bradley which sucks pretty hard. Â Also I don't know if anyone out there has a decent working HUMVEE with an M-2HB machine gun or SAW or M-60 or whatever (MK-19 or M-134 minigun) mounted on the roof, but something like this would be nice for replacing the BIS unarmed HUMVEE. And let's not forget the East side. Â You could use the armed BRDM (DSHK) and UAZ with PK or DSHK from the BAS Russian OPFOR pack to replace the original BIS unarmed vehicles. Â And if you really want to update the East side, you can replace the BIS BMP-1 with the CSLA BMP-2, and replace the BMP-2 with a BMP-3 or BMD-3 from Vit's APC pack. Â And replace the East side M-2 Machine Gun with a DSHK (Russian 12.7mm) since the East side shouldn't use American made heavy machine guns in real life.... Keep in mind that these are only ideas that I am throwing out there. Â Feel free to do whatever you feel is best for the super config project. Â I just want to give you some ideas incase you get bored and want to make more improvements. Â And some of my ideas might not be wise because the mod is already almost 300 megs, and we don't want it to get too far out of control... -

You deserve a raise Pappy. Â We're gonna double your salary. Â Now instead of making $0 you're gonna be making $0. Â Don't spend it all in one place! PS. Â I'd still like the RPG and AT4 to be able to destroy a BMP/M-113/M2 in 1 or 2 hits. These vehicles have to be light weight in order to be air transportable and therefore don't have the necessary armour to stop an light anti tank round. That's why the Russian came up with the BTR-T. They were tired of losing APCs to RPGs in Chechnya. Also I'd still like you to ditch the annoying beeping sound that the armed satchel charges make. Â It kind of takes away from the realism to see an east soldier walk right past a beeping bomb and do nothing about it. Â Plus I like to ambush people in MultiPlayer with satchel charges (hide them in a bush near the flag in CTF). Â This won't be possible if I ever play Super config in MP. Â But hey it's your mod and your time and effort, so feel free to do what you want. Â Keep up the good work. -

I fear that we have been giving too much attention to the west side, and not enough attention on the east units. I tried to do the CWC SP mission "Revenge", and first off I can't see the mission intro some kind of error about missing ammo. Then when I try to go through and see what weapons my troops are carrying in the mission breifing, my CPU freezes, and I have to do CTRL ALT DEL and force OFP to shut down. I think we all need to go through and do some testing on the east units and make sure we haven't neglected them. -

Oh crap! I forgot that the OFP AI is too stupid to launch the Javelin. Yeah you better leave the Carl Gustav, otherwise this will screw up a lot of missions. Also I changed my mind about the MP-5. Most special forces have ditched the MP-5 in favor of the M-4 thanks to the prolifiration of body armour. However I still have a problem with the fact that in some BIS missions (such as Clean Sweep 1 and 2) you are forced to carry MP-5 mags that you can't use. Also I too experienced the RPG problem. When I try to use an RPG soldier in the mission editor it crashes to desktop. But then in BIS missions I can still pick up an RPG off a soldier and it works fine. -

I love it. it's getting better everytime. I disagree about replacing the Chinook. If anything should be replaced it's the BIS OH-58 Kiowa Warrior. BAS made a really nice OH-58 pack. I wish I could say replace the OH-58 with the DKM RAH-66 but the Commanche was cancelled in real life. DOH! Also a few bugs. I don't see a UH-60 with rockets anymore, only the Pavehawk with minigun. It seems the Pavehawk with minigun replaces both the rocket UH-60 and the MG UH-60. Also on the Cleansweep 1 and 2 missions, my soldier is still carrying MP-5 mags even though he is now equiped with an M-4 SD. He still has 4 mags for the M-4 but then the rest of the slots have grenades and MP-5 mags. Not sure if there will be more serious problems in any other BIS missions. Maybe a better idea would be to replace the M-4 with an MP-5 mounting an aimpoint sight (like the BAS MP-5), and capable of using the standard BIS MP-5 SD mags. Also how come it takes 2 M-136 hits to destroy a BMP? I thought the M-136 was guaranteed to destroy light armoured vehicles in one hit? Also if you want to modernize the West AT soldiers, give them a Javelin (to replace the Carl Gustav) like the one that comes with Suchy + Earl's Marine pack. Their Javelin works pretty good although from what I hear the real-life Javelin is also suppose to have a secondary anti-aircraft capability that is not simulated by Suchy+Earl's Javelin. Also in my personal opinion the pilots should have the same M-4 used by the tank crew, and the M-4 that is used currently by the pilots should be reserved for Spec Ops. Also INQ's acog M-4 should replace the XMS. Other then these minor complaints, the Mod is one of the best yet. My reason for saying so? Because we can actually play missions with this mod where as other mods you download a ton of addons from them, wait for them to release some missions and campaigns (which they never do) and then the fall apart and break up before they can finish their work. So I applaud Pappy for putting all these cool addons together, and making a mod that completely changes the original OFP for the better. YYAAAHHHYYYY!!! -
Ok then would it be possible on the G-36 to simulate the scope when set to semi, and iron sights when set to auto or burst?
-
It is my understanding that the G-36 and XM-8 have two gunsights built into the carry handle. One sight is a longer range 3 or 4 zoom I think, and I think that the other gunsight is a no zoom reflex sight for close in work. My question is this. Is it possible to have the scope view when the rifle is set to semi-auto (for long range work), and have the reflex view gunsight when the rifle is set to burst or auto (for close in work). I thought this would be possible because of the M-203 which has a normal M-16 gunsight when set to semi or burst, and then has a grenade sight view when set to grenade. Anyway I was just wondering if it's possible.

I had problems with the microsoft sidewinder too. It is a problem with the joystick not the game. I ended up buying a Logitech Wingman (with throttle and twist handle rudder) on clearence at Best Buy for $5.00. It was originally a $40 stick. You can probably get one on E-bay for dirt cheap. On another note the Wingman does have a serious flaw. After a couple of months the potentiometer for the twist handle gets knocked out of place, causing the rudder control to go crazy. But it is possible to take the handle apart and glue the potentiometer against the handle thereby fixing the problem permenantly.
