Should ask this in OTHER game forums.

I saw it in the trailer when the tank's main-gun fired.

Ha, you could buy Israeli gas masks real cheap, back in the 80's.

Going Cyclic; Blind Firing; Recon by Fire
Uziyahu--IDF replied to Uziyahu--IDF's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Better as in more human. You know what a human soldier does when he comes under fire? He "rides on a rail" to the nearest cover, stops there, and animates firing from that cover in some fashion. If you're looking for A.I. to play Good Will Hunting on a blackboard before taking cover, maybe YOUR expectations are a bit high. -
I would like to see soldier A.I. choose to use roads, sidewalks, airstrips and foot-paths when not in Combat mode, unless forced in the Mission Editor to cut across uneven terrain. Travel across uneven terrain is too tiring when there is no reason for it and soldiers will often prefer to take trodden paths when there is no immediate threat. Essentially, their pathing would be similar to that of a car.

I would like to see video of this. -
The only match Google gives me for Israel selling Merkavot to Iran is a suspect article back in 2005.

I'm talking about all modes except for Safe and maybe Stealth.

That's the way I was trained during the Cold War. I'm sure that real combat is a different story. B.I. got the A.I. right. It was called Operation Flashpoint: Elite. AVIBIRD 1 knows what I'm talking about. I'm hearing a chorus of the same voices that were around when the first public demo of Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis was in the making. Everybody presuming to determine what B.I. could or could not do. Let me tell you a story about your kind, how it was a little over 10 years ago. I said, "You've got open side-doors on helicopters. I want a doorgunner." "No, impossible. Can't happen. They don't have time for that," they said. B.I. gave us a doorgunner. Forests were going to be only about 50 meters deep and then you would run into a wall, like in existing games. "Awww, that would have been so cool if you could walk through the entire forest," we whined. B.I. gave us fully-working forests. Motorcycles and bicycles. Pistols. More women. All shot down by voices like yours. All found in Operation Flashpoint: Resistance. Don't tell me what B.I. can't do and don't presume to speak for them. Instead, address the idea.

Yes, with belly-dancers, please.

Yes, I know the reasons. I served in the U.S. Army and I find that recent combat footage confirms what I experienced and what the Romans knew: prepared roads make for ready troops. ---------- Post added at 07:36 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:34 PM ---------- Ah, okay. I haven't observed this, but if you say it is in, you probably play more than I do.

Some wise Russian actually scripted a fully-working tornado into OFP. It was epic. I've still got the .zip file, but I'm not good enough at scripting to get it to work in ArmA.

I would like to see some civilians, including goatherder + goats or old woman + chickens, and a penalty in quarters for killing them. I have found that this works well with ASR's AI addons, especially the rearming one, and DAPMAN's First Aid addon. I would like to see the OPFOR go into buildings and up onto roofs. VBIED's. I have noticed that occasionally I will find a jet completely intact and engine running on the ground, stuck by some trees. Spawning of unit may not be set to "Flying"? It would be nice if a stash had a poorly-armored vehicle with a mounted weapon on occasion. More randomized drop-zones? The one on the other side of the wadi is a bit of a pain in the neck. An icon on the map appears when you have located a stash? I've been having fun with it. Thanks for making it.

"It proved it was a poor tank when it got knocked out consistently in Lebanon, recently. " In my opinion it wasn't the tank that proved poor. It was the Generals that sent tanks into a 3-D terrain for hostage rescue. They essentially repeated what happened to Israeli tanks in those same valleys before. It was either monstrously retarded or so ingenious that I'm still unable to figure out what was gained with that strategy.

ARMA3 needs better ACCESSIBILITY for players to meet, chat and play out of the box!

How many "slack-jawed morons" became better gamers because they were introduced to OFP or ArmA? The game MUST cater to the entry-level gamer if it wants to increase its core fan-base. -

Sure. I think most will take a pause after expending one magazine or drum, though. -

The human element is so important. I think even the Far Cry 1 demo's A.I. is superior to ArmA's in terms of appearing human. If it can be done on a game as lush as that one on the system specs that required, it should be possible in ArmA 3. Other games that I thought had great A.I.: No One Lives Forever 1 & 2, Modern Warfare 2 (on some of the 2-player challenges), Unreal Tournament's bots, the F.E.A.R. demo. Raven Shield and Ghost Recon 2's were pretty solid, too. -
Robalo, ever considered a drop-in module for setting a unit's percentage chance of retreat based on unit type?

I've played numerous updates of World War II Online / Battleground Europe. I have long been of the opinion that B.I. and the Cornered Rats should join forces. Every OFP/ArmA player should give WW2OL/BE a try. Some of my greatest gaming memories have come from shooting a .50 Boys rifle at German soldiers and their armored 232's during the earlier days of a campaign. -
FlexiAI (WIP) discussion

Yeah, a playable beta would be nice. Anything to give BLUFOR an A.I. edge over OPFOR. -
The first time I encountered ragdoll physics was in Shadow Force: Razor Unit, an innovative but under-appreciated tactical-shooter. Recently World War II Online / Battleground Europe added them. I posed several soldiers at the very edge of a tall cliff, shot them and watched them pick up speed as they slid down the cliff face, continuing to slide across the ground at high speed when they got to the bottom. I hope ragdolls will allow doorgunners to fall out of their helicopters. lol

B.I. rarely discards complex models, especially animated ones. This is why I am guessing you'll be seeing at least a few oil rigs on Limnos. (I saw a few in a narrow valley in Utah, once.) And yes, I hosted an IDF-themed squad starting in 2002 or 2003. The worst thing about trying to game with Israelis is the time-zone difference. It's more of an issue than the lag, in my opinion.
-
I watched the walk-throughs at Gametrailers.com . Game already looks incredible. The physics makes a big difference.

"If Uziyahu-IDF is suggesting Antisemitism is on the rise he and his countrymen might do well to wonder what's fueling that." I'm an American citizen who served in the United States Army, just for future reference. Your own words "Fueling that" answered your own question, I think. (Hint: Israelis aren't the ones with oil.) And to stay on-topic, I'm sure we'll see some oil rigs on Limnos. It just wouldn't be a high-value objective without them.

As ARMA3 has ragdoll, can we still be able to see the feet?
Uziyahu--IDF replied to msy's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
Yes, randomized height and weight was in Rogue Spear and/or Rainbow Six, I believe. It really helps things look more realistic.
