Or have imbalance-induced vibration from having the ends of a blade clipped off by a blade-strike? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x4CQfaBGWSo

Why cant it sound like this?
Uziyahu--IDF replied to hollow point's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
The Battlefield series has always had a pretty nice sound-engine. Too bad the game has never been that realistic in other areas. Hardly any recoil in full-auto? Need to shoot a guy with 12 rounds to put him down? At least it isn't the constant flinch-fest of Call of Duty. -
360 Controller Y-axis Inversion please?
Uziyahu--IDF replied to ChrisS55's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Is there software for the controller that allows this? The other day someone was complaining about their mouse speed and I asked if they adjusted it in their mouse software. They thanked me, later. -
Please "KILL" the occupants of exploding vehicles
Uziyahu--IDF replied to bangtail's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I don't like that tank crews bailing out never seem to run far enough away in time to keep from being killed by the explosion. That doesn't seem right. If a crew knows enough to bail in a given situation, they should have some chance of surviving; otherwise, why are they being trained to bail? As a pacifier? -
Feature request: working cyclic mechanism animations
Uziyahu--IDF replied to kuIoodporny's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
The difference is almost unnoticed by me, and I was in an Air Cavalry squadron for 3 years. "Well done" on implementing it in an addon, but unless this explains why the flight model feels weird, I can't see the necessity in B.I. taking the time to worry about this, unless one of them wants to work on it as a side-hobby. -
Use more than 70 types of weapons....But Where?????
Uziyahu--IDF replied to Iena's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I saw a post with almost the same exact title over on the competition's forum... suspicious. -
Has anyone ever considered the idea of A.I. LODs? A.I. that becomes more complex the closer to the player the character gets?

ArmA2:OHMOD Preview
Uziyahu--IDF replied to fromz's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
These actually look like Chinese soldiers, something I can't say about the competition. Remember, "their idea of R&R is cold rice and a little rat meat", so give them high morale. And please keep in mind that "The Bear and the Dragon" was released in 2000, when we had even less information about the Chinese military. -
WIP PMC Addon For ArmA2
Uziyahu--IDF replied to TheVipersFang's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
If these are PMC Tactical addons you're talking about, the last two addons I've downloaded from you guys have not loaded because you apparently have the needed version # set as 1.14 instead of 1.04. That means I can't load your Apache or your Everon, Malden, Kolgujev addon. ...and I don't really want to register for yet another website just to report a bug(s). -
Norton gave me a warning and blocked Backdoor.Graybird in a file called armakeygen.exe that we had on the Lost Brothers server. I searched for this, but the search feature either gave me zero matches or a blank screen. It appears to have been created around the time of the Razor expansion by someone who hated Armed Assault, as evidenced by mention of Razor and "armed_assault-hatred" in the possible path names. http://spywarefiles.prevx.com/RRFCHF35596704/ARMA%20KEYGEN.EXE.html

FlexiAI (WIP) discussion
Uziyahu--IDF replied to fabrizio_t's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
In the video it appears very professional and human. It looked like they even spread out their line in order to become harder targets and maximize their overlapping fields of fire. -
New island projects - what do you want?
Uziyahu--IDF replied to icebreakr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Bushlurker, that'll be a good terrain to "film" a Simple Minds music video remake! :D (For those who wonder if the terrain is really like that or not...) -
New Sound Mod in the making, slowly but surely

Lots of great features in this. Looking forward to fixes of the issues and upload of the newest version!

New island projects - what do you want?
Uziyahu--IDF replied to icebreakr's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Deserts for better frame-rates and larger-scale battles. Alien worlds to experience this graphics engine in new and interesting ways. Snow, just because they're cool and provide a lot of atmosphere. A large American neighborhood, complete with fast-food joints and supermarkets, so that I can finally make some cool Red Dawn missions. -
I'm enjoying OFP:DR, even if people are calling it a sequel to the original Ghost Recon. I'm finding myself RUNNING AWAY from engagements quite often, something very few tac-shooters have been able to get me to do. I think this is because I often either can't see or can't aim well enough at the enemy. Plus, normal mode requires numerous shots to take down an enemy if you don't score a headshot. The combat feels very natural and intuitive to me. For one, the FOV is closer to what OFP:CWC - OFP:E had, and that means greater immersion, for me. I prefer the 360 version to the PC version. The keyboard control scheme is confusing compared to gamepad.

WIP: Stuff you are working on 2!
Uziyahu--IDF replied to max power's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
Opticalsnare felt he had to block me on YouTube I apparently bothered him so much. Looks great! Would it be possible to free up some resources and make a realism gain at the same time by having the various sparks/particles DIE/burn-out at a variety of pre-set times (randomization might tax the system too much?)? Also, I was wondering if it would be possible to randomly vary the direction and style of the splash? For example, one explosion might kick up sparks mostly back towards the direction the missile came from, like a shotgun. Maybe in an update? Help us, OptiSnare, you're our only hope! When you make your demo movie, you should have Shilkas shoot at different spots on the distant horizon, within view-distance, while soldiers walk across at night, like in Saving Private Ryan. -
Pistolfied's Tracers

Why does a universally-improving addon like this one require loading of the Steyr weapon pack? (At least, that's what one web page or readme told me...) -
JTD Fire And Smoke
Uziyahu--IDF replied to dmarkwick's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
The fire seems to jump from tree-to-tree rather quickly and the trees seem to get engulfed in flames rather quickly, too. The previous version had a problem with the player dying in a place where there was no fire, but only a fire nearby (like across the street, behind a fence). That might have been fixed in the new version, as I seemed to be able to walk near fires without dying. Really need any light created by a fire to flicker, including default game fire. However, if you have a whole pine tree engulfed in flames, it might no longer be necessary in that case. Loved it in Far Cry 2 and now I love it in ArmA 2. -
I guess this would be a good place for a 1st impressions post, since I don't see a 1.04 1st Impressions thread: Okay, so I've got a new computer that can handle ArmA. It's an HP Pavilion Elite AMD Quad-core at 2.6Ghz each, 8 Gigs DDR3 and a 512 Meg Radeon video card. It's also got some kind of RealTech/Tek soundcard (I'd prefer a good ol' Creative card, myself). Well, ArmA can really get down there in frames per second, even in story mode. This really makes me long for good ol' Operation Flashpoint: Elite. All of this pursuit after great graphics is making for sluggish gameplay. Sure, it's beautiful, but who admires the scenery when the bullets start flying? You need responsiveness. Ground vehicle steering is ridiculously all over the place. And a final complaint: I'm trying to get past Harvest Red, set in that city with an industrial sector. I am over and over getting me or my troops mowed down by bad guys I never see unless they're within 30 feet. I can see why reviewers say the A.I. cheats. All of these factors combine to make a difficult game. During the first couple of missions I thought it was fairly easy, though fellow A.I. did most of the killing. But early in the story I am finding it a bit of chore. That first mission had lots of charm, what with the various civilians in need of help, so I hope I see a lot more of that. Just having trouble getting through. I'm running at 1024 x 768 with about 1000 meters view distance and fairly normal settings.

Those who downloaded the game from Steam aren't supposed to apply this patch, says armedassault.info... They are supposed to update through Steam.

That is such B.S.! Did you play Operation Flashpoint: Elite on the OLD, black XBox? If anything, Elite proved that NOTHING is too complex for a console. Any limitation found in Elite was a design decision by the developers, Codemasters (the publishers), and/or Microsoft. Throw in the fact that the 360 can take a USB keyboard and a detachable hard-drive and you have no defense left! Microsoft wants the industry hookers to keep reciting your B.S. opinion, because they don't want infinitely replayable games depriving them of game sales. Over and over again you will hear those who have played Elite saying that if the game was backwards compatible on the 360 they wouldn't be playing anything else. Microsoft doesn't want that. The industry doesn't want that. The Brothers Spanel are a couple of the few visionaries left who want to give gamers their heart's desire.

Topolka Dam and Beyond
Uziyahu--IDF replied to Clayman's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Maybe the dam has a spring on the other side? Add particles of white-water moving away from the dam, at least for a little distance beyond the "rapids". Doesn't have to be anything too fancy, just something to add the sensation of motion of the water. -
Do You find ArmA Infinite Land Spooky?
Uziyahu--IDF replied to walker's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Ever explored the map in Soldner? An epicly HUGE terrain that isn't tiled. Drive up to the top of a distant mountain, then look back at where you started. Eerie. The future of travel, I'm betting. -
The ORIGINAL milsim games and what made them great!
Uziyahu--IDF replied to evilnate's topic in OFFTOPIC
Yep, SEAL Team and Airborne Ranger were the best for me, until Rainbow Six 1. You'd get pinned by suppressive fire in SEAL Team. You could call in airstrikes and boatstrikes, too. You could even demolish a sandbag bunker by shooting it with enough rounds from a Stoner or M60.
