  1. no please dont do that please. Let that be up tp the mission maker. Think If there was russians invading thhe town do you think many police sirens would be going off? no not really. If there where zombies and everyone else was dead would there be sirens? no. please please let that be up tp the mission maker.

    Russians invading the city? wink_o.giftounge_o.gif I think ambient sirens near the worse districts would be cool, but you have a good argument against it...I might leave it out but I just think it would be cooler not to have the mission makers put everything into the island. Also the point here is to create the most realistic city I can, and cities aren't silent. I might or might not include ambient sirens and car horns or I might not, release is still a long, long way off.


  2. Lol you're all wrong, I just made those objects that have sounds. It's not an environment sound, its an object that has (for example) sound="DistantPoliceSiren". Right now I'm trying to get the police siren to randomly go off, I think it's done with having the animperiod = random [number], but I'm not exactly sure what to do.


  3. Not true, BAS has objects on tonal that produce sounds, I looked at the cpp of BAS_O, and there are (for example) looping radios, crickets, etc, and they are assigned to objects. I tried doing that in my island, but for some reason the sounds dont work even though i did them the same was they are on tonal.

I want to edit a units anim so it's prone animation is replaced with a standing one, so the unit can't go prone (I want it so that I can put this setbehaviour "safe" but always have them standing, since with this setunitpos "up" overrides the behaviour it seems). I know it's done with CfgMoves in the cpp, but other than that I have no idea how it's written and how it's implemented into the unit. rock.gif Any help would be really appreciated.


  5. I think what most islands are missing is that special place where you can look out across a vast distance and admire the beauty of the island. I really want to be able to look out across this city.

    All of the rooftops have defined "roadways" so you can walk on them, I'm sure there will be a really tall skyscraper maybe you can look can look down from.

    Is there a chance to get your buildings to use for own islands?

    After I'm done the island the buildings can be used, since I'm constantly updating and redoing buildings, if I gave you them now at the release of this island yours would be outdated. Plus theres not that many right now, just china town, a bus depot, 2 warehouses, 2 apartments, etc, just not that much. sad_o.gif


  7. Btw I'll work on the airport after Chinatown, since all of you guys seem to really want a good one. To me Chinatown is 90% complete so I'll start on the airport ASAP. smile_o.gif

    If you are patience for about a week or so, i'm sure i could send you the tower made by JoergF. Just tested it and it'S awsome! Or I'll give you his eMail address. That should of course work, too!

    Yeah sure I can wait, plus since March break is almost over (that explains my fast work biggrin_o.gif ) I won't have as much time to work on it so it might be done in a week or two (the airport).

    Don't worry, I already have an enterable restaurant, you'd think something like a terminal would at least be partly enterable. smile_o.gif

  9. I don't know if this is through the cpp, but how can I make a gunshot quieter over certain distances. I know this can be done because for example the BIS MP5 can be heard close up but not from far away. I have a bunch of weapons but I want a say Glock or a Beretta not to be heard loudly or at all after a certain distance. How can I do this?


  10. We don't need kids. This is a war game. Go play with some other game if you want kids.

    A good idea may be an extensive airport, like a normal international airport.

    Yeah I'm definately going to be making that, I reserved plenty of space for it plus some cool winding highway style roads leading to 2 or 3 terminals.

    Anyways, I have a question again. How can I make the AI know where the Geo lod is? WHen I place a waypoint into the building the AI runs through the walls and objects like the geo lod was missing, but I can't cross the walls. sad_o.gif


  12. Dude, i love the looks of your island and cops and stuff. I WANT IT I WANT IT! can you release a........ pack of your buildings? or somthing?

    new cop cars (and some other civie ones)

    EDIT: oh yeah some firefighter guys and trucks

    but what i would really love is an action when you can lean out of a car window and shoot somthin

    I wont be making any military bases since there are never any military bases in the middle of cities. Also, I won't be making any standout buildings from real cities but I will make similar ones. For the characters, I really don't know how to make them...all I can do is retexture existing ones (like BAS's tonal civilians) but again other than that theres not much I can do. For cars, it's the same things, but remember there are plenty of car addons from mehanic (porsches and jeeps and other cars found in america) but sadly theres more cars that you would never find in america. sad_o.gif


  13. Well they need cpp's if you want to use them in the editor, but damage, editor appearance, etc are all in the model. Theres no cpp for the buildings on my island but they all work fine in wrp tool and ingame.

    If you go to the thread for my island agent smith posted a link his thread with all of the model properties you can use for things like how it is damaged.

    Anyways guys I've gotten the restaurant done, the first floor is almost done and the kitchen needs a bit more stuff, but the Geo lod's all there, etc.

    It's about 350 polys, and I still have some more details to add like refridgerators and boxes in the kitchen, furniture for the room on the second floor, and maybe some plants or something like that.

  15. I have a question though, how can I make there be sound effects in the map, like in Tonal? Are they objects defined with a sound or something? I really have no idea.

    Also, with gunshot sounds, how can I make it quieter over a distance? It's kind of annoying because for all the weapons I make I can hear the 9mm's and silenced guns from a coupel kilometers away. rock.gif


  16. Yeah I'll most likely be doing a stadium but right now the left side of the island (which I'm working on) is more of the Portland of GTA3 mixed with the left side of Vice City (the latin part of it). The downtown and nicer, suburban part will be on the right side.  smile_o.gif

    no dont do a staduim. do a NASCAR racetrack  tounge_o.gif will gain more revenu and will boost the economy in that area more  biggrin_o.gif

    PS: althou i havnt seen any pics. this sounds. . .amazing and cant wait  smile_o.gif  just hope its not like the giga island from USMC mod that gets 1 frame a minute  sad_o.gif

    Theres tons of pics in this thread, all in the previous pages. tounge_o.gif The island from the USMC mod lagged because it had thousands of trees and tons of BIS buildings, all which were high poly so that obviously caused it to lag pretty badly.

    @ redhawk_six: A stairwell going up ~40 floors would take TONS of polys, I think it would be better to make a first floor as you said, and then script an elevator that just moves your person to another elevator at the top.

  18. All cool suggestions, you guys can expect an enterable bank though, theres tons of mission possibilities for that. biggrin_o.gif I'll make a high school or a college as well. A contruction site is a good suggestion too. Do you guys have an idea for what to make enterable in Chinatown? I might make an enterable restaurant or something like that that can be the Triad "headquarters". I think a dojo could be cool too. smile_o.gif

    That'd be cool but I would'nt do it for a bunch of reasons. First it would be kind of useless, second it would use many polys, and third it would cause lag. If everyone had an awesome computer I'd make every single building enterable, but my computer isn't that great and many other's too.  sad_o.gif
