Still working on it, now that's its the summer holidays I can spend more time on it. Check out the combat photography thread, I posted some pics there inspired by GTA: San Andreas, and they are from the island, along with some gang member characters.
I'm redesigning the island right now, but I kept the old version for screenshots in the combat photography thread. -

Two of the Crips pull out their pistols and begin to shoot at the Bloods


The Bloods return fire, killing both of the armed Crips. They warn the remaining members not to venture out onto their turf again.

This project looks really damn cool. However, I have one small gripe about it. I don't think those highway dividers should be everywhere. IMO, your'e really overusing them in placed where they wouldn't be. For city roads a more realistic divider would be a sidewalk sized one with grass on top of it. Also, I would strongly suggest making some more buildings, for example a small mall, hospital, grocery stores and restaurants. Another cool thing would be a football stadium.

For now, with the footpeg fixed & all, its Troublemakers time!

I just hope you all will like it "as is" and accept that its a low-resolution tex. job
with eyes fixed on funny & mad missions more then looks or shiny artwork;
we'll save that for the next pack.

If your going to make a rival gang it would be awesome if they would be a hells angels type gang - with leather jackets and harleys.

Well I've decided that I'm going to save the larger island for a different time; it will simply take way too long to complete. So for now I'll be releasing the smaller island just to showcase the city sometime within the next few months (most likely longer).

Yeah I'm sketching possible layouts for the island...before it was really, really small so it took me a few minutes to make an island shape but now its a hell of a lot bigger and it might take me a while to draw an island shape and elevations and stuff. Just sit tight, when I make some new stuff I'll post screens of it. Â

The main problem I'm having is how landscape looks, ie: how shores look, realistic mountains, realistic deserts, realistic city layouts, etc. The original island IMO was lame because no one would ever make a city out of two small islands; hell, on that island I could barely have fit an airport. Plus no one builds airports near cities. Â What's going to take the most time is making realistic terrain. The gta islands were always awesome because the developers went to the actual cities and took pictures for reference material, and sadly I don't have that luxury.
Maybe you guys can post some reference pics that I could use in making the terrain and cities, preferably of how city outskirts look (Even though I live near Toronto, I can't quite imagine how a city would "fade" into outskirts or countryside), and maybe like a roadmap of the nevada deserts with highways and stuff. -
Yeah I just got the island config working and I'll be finishing the countryside area sometime soon, probably this weekend. I'll include some kind of Area 51 type base in the desert too, and some gas stations along the road. The highway will have some overpasses and stuff like that near the cities.

Lol I just recently updated my profile when I noticed how out of date it was, and I added some stuff now. It's still pretty interesting to see what people are into around the world, and what their interests and hobbies are, etc.

How would I config an island half the size of everon/malden? My current config causes a ctd when I try to load the island in the mission editor. Here it is:

I just downloaded the updated pack, and I noticed most of the opfor troops don't work anymore, due to the class names of weapons and other stuff being changed. Is there any patch that fixes this?

Yeah I'm probably going to go with the las vegas type outskirts, probably with a mountain range or two, a long winding highway going through it, etc. It just fits a setting like this a lot better, plus, gangsters in movies always dump the bodies on a barren desert highway.

I have a question for you guys, what kind of country side would you guys like to see? A las vegas outskirts type desert with mountain and canyons and stuff like that or a forested type countryside with mainly forest and hills. Â
I'm planning on the desert one right now, which will be more barren (thus having less lag), with a highway going through it.Also, does anyone know what I have to put in the config of an island that is set in 64 (half of 128, which is for a 12.8 X 12.8km default island)? I keep getting ctd's when I try starting the island, and I don't know what class a smaller than default island would go.

Its the size of everon and its about 75% filled with land...I sincerly doubt it will not lag considering the fact that nogova has over 150000 objects, has WAY more complex terrain, has very high poly buildings (the 8 story apartment is 4000 polys, compared to 600 polys max for an enterable building on my island), has tons and tons of forests and individually placed trees, etc, and doesnt lag. Trust me if it can run without lag on my computer it won't lag for anyone else.

Sorry for the lack of updates lately, I haven't made any substantial progress but theres a "ghetto" type neighbourhood done, which is sort of inspired by the gta: san andreas screens. However, I'm planning on reworking the whole island structure + landscape, instead of a vice city style two island thing its going to be a bit different. There will be a miami type city near the south part of the island, then some countryside with a highway, then the highway will branch to a northern los angeles type city, and to a large airport with terminals and stuff. Also, near the southern area, I'm going to make a caribbean style island with some sort of guerilla base or drug dealer mansion (kind of like the one in scarface in bolivia), with a whole drug plant and cocaine farms and stuff. Needless to say it will be pretty fucking awesome when its done, and will give tons and tons of mission ideas.

Damn I have a feeling I'm going to be disappointed with this one. I'm certain they will focus on "gangsta" style stuff way too much (especially since the main character is black, hes the one crouching in one of the pics), and because of that the radio stations are also probably going to be rap/hip hop dominated. If they stuck with a more default style character like the dude from the first game or Tommy Vercetti (the types of people who would deal with all types of criminals) it would have more variation, but now since hte main character is some ex gangsta probably 50% or more is going to be just the annoying rap type gangsta stuff. I just hope theres enough new stuff to make up for the annoying setting.

The character behind the door is invisible, the glass should be transparent. You can see his elbow sticking out from the side of the door.

I'm having a problem with transparency in .paa files ( Picture ), yet with the same texture (also check the blinds of the office in the BIS hanger, I use that texture and it has the same transparency problem). Is there any way to fix this? I heard something about putting "CanOcclude" in the properties thing, but I don't know which lod to put it in and if its canocclude 1 or something along those lines.

due to the fact that its not as much represents the confederates as it does represent "rebels" or a rebelion in that case. Â therefore bikers feel that they are in someway "rebels" not as much as they support confederatisum as they do rebelinng agaisnt general societyAh thanks for explaining that, I've been wondering about that for a while.

No just the more important ones that would have meaning in a mission, if all were enterable the city would lag like hell.

Probably 1/6 or 2/6 of the island done, in terms of the amount of area where buildings are placed. A bit more considering I have a bunch of buildings that haven't been placed, and buildings that have temporary placements.

And don't forget to have lots of Chopper's stuff all over and on the bikers, you should put Harley Davidson on some and West Coast Choppers on the othersLol I just put the confederate flag there (I'm not even american lol) just because I always see bikers associating with them. Panteras guitarist has a confederate flag painted on his guitar, zakk wylde (ozzys guitarist) wears them on his leather jackets, the new hitman game had them all over the place in the biker club, when I looked for biker apparel on the internet for texture for the bikers half of the stuff had confederate symbols on it, also a bunch of bars and pubs near me have them inside. Â

As you can see I've been using more and more BIS textures and objects, saves me time and just looks better, I'm probably going to update the restaurant sometime soon. Â

Also, the club is nowhere near complete, theres lot of more details I want to add, such as pizza boxes on the tables, beer bottles all over the bar counter, trash on the floor, a jukebox or a radio, posters, etc.

everyone knows you cant close quarters battle with the ai, but it be a lil funner on mp with some likeminded players.Actually with proper a proper pathway lod the AI aren't that stupid, although a bit semi-retarded I guess. Â
 They can navigate all of the enterable buildings with absolutely no problems as it is. --------------------
As for progress, I'm almost done a biker club/pub, it's looking really, really good and I'll post pics of it soon. Â

BTW, does anyone know how I can get the smallest possible file for a song in OFP? I know mp3 can't be used, but is there any way of compressing a soundfile and making it 5-10 megs at least?

Yeah I'll make cactuses and other plants and foliage for the desert, however I doubt that the desert will make it into this version. What I'll do is release this smaller version and make the real island with multiple cities and countryside. I have to say tho that my will to work on this has gone down a bit recently, but every time new GTA: San Andreas screens come out it motivates me to get stuff done for this island. Â
What I'm wondering is, would anyone want to help me with the terrain and city planning of the island? It's whats delaying it a lot at this point, since it's so hard to plan everything for this type of city. For normal islands, cities are really easy to make since they rarely are made to resemble a realistic city. Plus all the time I'm getting new ideas on what to make and then how to implement it.
