    VON no longer works

    Just make sure the server you are playing on has not turned of VON... many have, as it has proven to crash servers with more than 20 players playing.... VON is pretty FUBAR right now....WHY BiS felt it needed to overhaul the sound engine is beyond me...

  6. Any chance they can incude some other Western Forces for players to select from... frankly I am getting sick to death of playing the US Marines..... Or will we have to wait until guys like the ACE team give us that option...
  7. The guys over at Ofpec are stating that the Biki has been updated to include information on the modules, especially First Aid module... I have tried to find it but dont see it. Anyon found it yet? Also there is a new framework for Multiplayer apprently...again cannot find it.   8. Dear all, I have added some custome sounds to my mission and I have noticed something bizarre happening and hope you may have some ideas. Here is what I have created for a TvT mission. I created a OGG file, the proper setup, i.e. 16 bit, 44100ghz and listed the files in my Description.ext. When I create a trigger, the files are viewable to select from the Trigger effects menu, under "Voice". However here is the problem, when the guys in this case in the aircraft here the sound file it sounds ok (some massive random sound level issues but mainly ok) however, everyone can hear the sound on the map. Here is the problem, The further you are away from the trigger and the sound the faster it sounds on playback until the aircraft gets nearer. So in example; First trigger goes off and sound plays, on the aircraft it sounds fine (better outside than inside and also random on volume level despite set DB in the des.ext). But the further you are away from the trigger (i.e. Opfor) the more "Cartoon" like the sound is, i.e much faster and higher pitch than intended. Then the next trigger activates a little closer to the Opfor and the sound reduces in pitch and speed slightly and while not as bad is still comical. With VON all out of whack at the moment I cannot use Radio and so have to use a trigger based action (I believe). Can anyone explain why the "player" no matter where they are, gets a different pitch and speed version of the trigger sound, depending on how far they are away from the trigger? Is there a way to solve this? Is this an ArmA2 bug? and ideally I dont want anyone on the ground hearing these sounds as they are meant for the guys in the aircraft only anyway "I.e. jump signals", can the sounds be made so that only the Blufor hear them? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Regards BD1
  9. All my files were Mono guys, I forgot to mention that in the original post. However if you record yourself say "oh look over there" and you use the "voice" section from the effects menu, it does in fact do something strange in that the sound changes pitch and speed the further you are away from it. (other side of the map, etc). Yet when you use another effects menu like "anonymous" the problem does not happen. So I think it is ArmA's way of trying to play the sound to the further away units and changing the speed and pitch is it's way of trying to give the effect of distance maybe? Anyway, the side specific action above is a great help. Once again many thanks guys. BTW - Congrats on the Bis Mission Award Xeno.... good work fella!
  10. UPDATE - Well done Neo....spot on fella! It was indeed a problem by using the sounds from the "voice" drop down menu. I switched and used the "Anonymous" drop down and the sounds play perfectly! Now, if I can just find a way to play them only to the West side, that would be great!! Thanks for your help Cheers BD1

    Never mind not a huge issue, was just incredibly surprised at all the similarities. You evidently have a clone running around out there from the ArmA1 days. Maybe I should post the missions I create on Armaholic, I have always just uploaded them to the TG servers and never really considered releasing them. I'll take a look at the mission and give you some suggestions if I see any.

    Very Weird!!! You know what is even more strange is the fact that a player named "trenchfoot" has played on our tacticalgamer.com server that hosted my mission for the last 10 months! Strange how there are so many similarities? Maybe I should download the mssion and see if the coincidence continues to the briefing as well? Anyway, glad to see the concept was obviously a popular one!

    Interesting... This is basically the exact same mission I created for ArmA1 called "Operation Foothold" based on the island of Rahmadi, with insertion by boat and exactly the same target layout... Get any inspiration from my mission for this? ;)

    Insurgency (based off PR)

    Pogoman, Very nice mission, some very cool and interesting features. So much so I have loaded it up onto the TacticalGamer.com server 2 as the default mission! A couple of observations from testing it tonight on our dedi server. When the Squad Leader selects a FARP location the Medic tent has a tendency to collapse upon base build, even on flat surfaces and with no other obstacles around? Also we are noticing players often die when jumping out of the Helo at game start. Not sure if it's bodies clashing as they jump, but a respawn later and they are at the new FARP. Other than that....its a HARD mission but very enjoyable, well done!
  15. Hello all, Many of you have stopped by and all are welcome to come visit TG-ArmA. We have two dedicated servers and an event server. We focus on the ACE mod and mainly toward CoOp, our Sunday events attract anywhere between 30 and 60 players on average. This is not a "Run n Gun" crowd, there are many current and former serving members of the armed forces and we have an excellent group of mission makers who are now producing really good quality MP missions. We try to run a tight ship which means troublemakers, lone wolves, people who do not follow their Squad Leader/Commander's instructions, all dont last long. The TG servers have often been the lead servers in terms of popularity for ACE mod multi-servers and we look forward to seeing more of you ingame. We are also interested and looking to build relationships with other groups/clans/teams/mission makers to continue to grow the community that we currently have. Just recently the TacticalGamer forum went past the "1 Million" posts mark :) For TG-ArmA we have a number of In-House Squads including the TG-22nd, The Irregulars, The Xth Tactical Guard and a few more IHS's are now beginning to transfer over to ArmA as they get ready for the release of ArmA2 The ArmA game G.O. is Jeepo and the admins are myself, Viper, Barnacle of Doom, Bamboo, Tha_Khan and former game G.O. - TheBigC. Come stop by on our forum where server SOP's are all located and come join some of our mission makers in their latest efforts. Server1 is ACE Mod and ACE islands Server2 is ACE Mod, ACE Islands and OPX's Avgani and Afghan Village maps.   19. OK I found out what the problem is and fixed it for my missions and this probably affects some of you as well. The static object error, relates to an AI waypoint. As some of the buildings have been changed the waypoint becomes broken. So delete all your waypoints for AI that enter a building and do them again and it should all work fine, mine seems to. Also some great news is that there are now some extra buildings that have many more rooms and positions available which you can pack with AI for some excellent CQB work!! Nice job Opteryx!

    Wrong walking sound..

    I advised of the same problem to the ACE dev team a while back and apparently a number of islands had this issue. They got straight on it and they have fixed this for ACE islands 1.13 when then becomes available.

  22. Does anyone know how to set the height of a player. For example if I set a player on the map "Blufor", "Air" then Parachute. It selects an old style ArmA special forces unit as the character. The start point in the air is not very high at all and within 10 seconds the unit is on the ground with not much time to "fly" the new chutes. So I was wondering if the height can be specified a little like the fly in height for the Helo? Also is there anyway to change the character used? Ta muchly BD1
  23. Opteryx well done on the maps sir, this latest version of Avgani looks superb. Slight problem though, My Street Sweeper Mission has just fallen over as a "Static object" has been removed. It says to open the editor and resave, well I did a resave as version 4 with the new version of the map and I still have the problem. Is there a specific building class or object you might have removed? I have zero clue where to even start looking, it could literally be anywhere. regards BD1
