Don't know if it'll help you, but for my dedicated server I simply installed the A.C.E. exe.....then added the @ACE tag to the server launch icon properties. Strictly a guess, but I'd say all the files that the server needs should be in the @ACE folder. Good luck with it.

(I searched but could not seem to locate any info) Question: is there a way/setting to crank up the in-game voice comms? They seem to be much improved these days, but are reduced to quiet mumblings by combat sounds and engine noise. I've tried adjusting the sliders in the audio options, but all I seem to be able to do is substitute comms for fx. I'd really like to be able to hear comm traffic over my engines/helos (while still hearing my engines/helos). When running Vent (cranked up) everything can be heard clearly. I'd like to be able to replicate that with the in-game comms (and I know BIS put alot of effort into voice comms).

Loving ACE. Keep up the great work, fellas. Can't wait to see where you go from here. ps: sure would love to see a Preditor in there with an interface like the HuntIR...orbiting a target area -

This is *exactly* what I'm seeing....trangles, then CTD. Thanks for the link! -
Anyone have any thoughts on this? I've poked thru the search funtion but can't seem to turn up any results here. Google turned up a few results (*all* related to ArmA, but not much info). Â Seems to be video (memory) related. System and GPU temps look to be well within normal ranges. Â Ample air flowing thru case. Nothing abnormal on the nVidia event log. Power supply output steady with much to spare. All the current/latest drivers (nVidia, etc). Error only occurs playing ARMA. Results in CTD and msg: "Cannot create system memory surface DXT5,2048x2048" Specs: E8400 4GB Patriot Viper 4-4-4-12 8800GTS (G92) 512MB OZC 700Watt ps WD Rapter HHDs Cosmos 1000 case Windows XP Thanks

Thanks. I'll give the maxmem a try tonight. I saw it mentioned in a few searches, but the results looked mixed. -

Could be a relation. From what few bits of info I've gathered, the error dates back to ArmA release and is fairly common with nVidia 8800GT_ series cards. It spans several nVidia driver builds. I'm running the lastest DIRX version for XP (this PC build was only assembled in the past month, and I tried to grab the most current drivers, etc). -
I wish ArmA had multi-joystick support. My rudder peddals are a seperate device as seen thru Windows. Some games/sims allow you to configure "joystick_2" for certain fucntions but I haven't seen any way to do this in ArmA.

I wish I could tell you that the disc version of the game might solve you issue. It didn't for me. Stick with trying to solve it. It's a great game and worth the effort. I shouldn't really say anything more. They are watching. Such conversations...disappear.

I had a long battle with this (for both the demo and then when I purchased the game). The short version of the story for me was it turned out to be the nVida All-in-one chipset drivers for my mobo. But in the months that I tried various fixes, I had seen people usually solve the issue with driver updates (video card, sound card or onboard sound, AopenAL, DirX install, etc, ). About the only advice I give is.....update *everything*.

This is one of the issues I encountered while trying to get the game working this weekend. I got around it by disabling all firewall and AV software, then un-installing/re-installing and re-patching ArmA. I also cleared out every ArmA file I could find in numeruos "document and settings" folders.

Thanks for the help, but no joy still. It's not sound driver-related. I can swap back to my old video card and it will run (like crap, but runs). So it's video card/diver-related. (and yes, I've wipe the drivers and reverted to every single build since this card was released.....reformated, replaced the hard-drive, fesh OS install, all latest drivers.....none of which helped) Really a bit of a bummer. I purchased this video card to play ArmA (and unfortuanately at the time it cost me an arm and a leg being AGP). I did go out and purchase the game today (hoping the 1.08 patch might resolve the issue). It still crashes at arma.exe. I can return the game, at least.

(I've been long since hoping for a fix to this before I purchase the game) History: When the first ArmA demo released many months ago, I downloaded it and played it steadly. Â It did run rather poorly graphics-wise on my AGP GeForce 5700 Ultra 124MB, but it at least ran. Upgrade I added a new video card (AGP GeForce 7600GT 256MB) and got the now famious "ArmA has encountered a problem and needs to close. Â We are sorry for the inconvenience." then it requests to send MS a report. Â No other hardware changes or application installations were made at this point. I tried a re-install of ArmA and gave up. So, next I tossed my old hard drive and replaced it with a WD Raptor. Â Fresh format and a fresh Windows XP SP2 load. Â All updates and the current nVidia drivers. Â Re-installed DirX 9c. I still get the same crash at .exe (last two little checkboxes never fill and the the "ArmA has encountered a problem and needs to close. etc, etc, etc" Â Currently I've uninstalled the old demo and re-installed the new ArmA US version 106 by Atari. Â Same exact crash at .exe. Â All this has been going on since the very first demo released and I upgraded video cards. I had hoped a solution would appear in the months that pased. Â I've updated nVidia drivers a few times as they became available over that period (and even tried a few wipes and back-dated driver reversions). Currently running the June '07 nVidia drivers. I do alot of alpha and beta testing for various game companies. Â I'm currently helping with a QA build for a recent release (which is *very* graphic-intensive). And this machine will run most anything I toss at it (some of which comes to us in pretty rough form). I've seen a good many posts here over the months discussiong similar exe crash problems, but I've yet to find a solution. I really hate to go out and purchase the box US version knowing the problem I have (and the other people I see having similar issues reported here). My old OPFP squad is now playing ArmA a few nights a week and it kills me to be missing out on this (I was the biggest fan waiting for ArmA to come out). Any thoughts? Thanks

Thanks, but no joy there. Same issue. Again, it ran (poorly) with my old (crappy) video card. But it won't run with the newer video card. I know there are a ton of people having similar issues with the release version (which is why I'm holding off on my purchase). Little check boxes filling up and stopping. You can see that it is creating the config and profile files as it crashes. Something is borked, but it shouldn't be that hard to look into it (as many people as I read here that are having such issues).
