Artifacts still exist, these drivers have not fixed the issue, bad luck. Lets hope the official ones have this supposed fix in them... personally I think they will not.

Looks like we are all trapped at work and can download but not test lol.
Saying that...need the XP ones....

Hmm i am with thyco on this one: i don't understand why 1680x1050 with fill rate at 75% should be better, both visually and performance-wise, than 1280x1024 and 100% fill rate (or about).if you have your card say render 1680px and then interpolate to show 1280px on screen you will simply have a double disadvantage: unneeded strain to your card for lesser visual quality ...
It may not make sense or be your way to get better visual / performance out of the game but it works for me, all I am doing is sharing what works for me giving others the flexibility to try different options.
I am happy at the moment with what works, just for info I don't think there is a 1280x800 resolution in the options so could select that if I tried... (at work so can't check :) )

Ok, just to throw something into the mix, I turned off cool'n quiet and gained 3+ fps on each ArmA Mark II tests...

Reduce everything in game to its lowest settings, keep Resolution to your screen res. reduce Fillrate to 0 (50% min I think), restart the game, it will look terrible but see if its still sluggish ?
-
-
if your going to do that, then why dont you just use a lower screen resolution? because from looking at what you have done, its as if you just went into the option setting and dropped the fillrate from 100% to 50% thus making the game look extremely terrible.Remember 100% fillrate = Render_W: 1680, Render_H 1050 which is the same as your screen resolution.
i play at 1280x1024 because that the max resoultion for my screen (19" lcd) and if drop the fillrate below 100% the game basically becomes unplayable due tot he fact that i cant make out the difference between a tree and soldier.
I want to be able to play the game not just look at it, if I increase the fillrate to the same as my res then the frame plummit. Fillrate on that res is about 75% and lilke I say, increase some of the other bits and it still looks nice but it is playable and I want to play not just gaup at it with 10fps.
Each to their own and until I upgrade my mobo and gfx card then I have to make do with a 'lesser' nice looking game but enjoying it all the same.

Resolution_W=1680;
Resolution_H=1050;
refresh=60;
Render_W=1280;
Render_H=800;
FSAA=1;
postFX=1;
HDRPrecision=8;
May not look as clear as many but with the above rendering and postFX settings it is stutter free and smooth in every scenario so far. Really depends on what you want, if you want to play the game smoothly then reduce the render to something in the same aspect as your monitor until it is playable then increase other options for instance my shadows are now on high as is the post processing which makes up for the reduced screen render resolution.

Amazing, I get my best performance in or near trees and bushes. The slow down is in towns or near buildings with very poor LOD's popping up all ove the place.
-
I tell you what would be a scary mission: Dropped behind enemy lines at dusk, NV goggles may be in the next town but beware of the woods as there have been some strange sounds coming from there...
The night / dust is pretty scary when you know something may be out there and you have no weapon and must make it to the town before it hears / tracks you down.
JohnnyBoy's vid showed that something along these lines would be pretty cool as it turns and runs towards you, nothing to do but run away and hide (not sure if you can hide from AI logic once spotted ?). Maybe a family of Bigfoot type creatures, when one spots you it make a cry and the others are alerted to your location ?
Now if only I had a clue about creating missions.

Ok found the 'fix' I think. Basically its to do with these lines in the ArmA2.cfg:
localVRAM=536870912;
nonlocalVRAM=525074400;
If I set my AGP Aperture to 512MB I get no screen corruption and all drivers work with or without the noCB command. Anything less and the system displays the corruption as per OP and subsequent vids etc.
Not sure if you can do something with PCI-e ? But if you are AGP and can increase the size in your BIOS then do it. Issue with just changing the ArmA2.cfg is that it detects RAM when you start and modifies this file, not sure if changing it to RO will work.
Good luck all.

I dont know why or how but something is very very wrong here:Texture Detail - Normal
Anisotropic Filtering - Normal
Terrain Detail - Normal
Objects Detail - Normal
Shadow Detail - Normal
PostProcess Effects- Low
Fillrate - 100%
1680x1050, 2000meters viewdistance, latest german patch added
Win XP SP2
Phenom X4 9850 BE
4GB G-Skill Pc-1000
AMD HD 4870 512MB
Freshly installed Windows, lots of disc space is free
Score was 1988 pts. :eek:
What the heck is wrong with my system, even people with 8800 cards or even lower seem to get better marks :/
I have X4 955 BE (3.2Ghz), HD3850, XP SP3, 4Gb DDR2 800Mhz...
My Score is...: 1926 - last test was 10fps !! Looks like there is a problem somewhere like you but probably not the rigs.

Usually a final is just means that the previous beta patch has passed testing, it dosn't mean they've add even more new fixes. At least that's been my experience with other beta to final patches.Beta and final can be completely different so there is no guarantee your expectations will be met and nothing changed from beta to final.
See:
They fixed the rocket artillery. -
If only there was official 'if you had the beta install then you will get this message but it updates the game ok' - all other messages should be noted. type thing when BIS officially release the patch on their web site.
Just to help stop all these messages and countless other forums complaining about it especially with the original note of: Public beta of 1.01 is out now for the German version of ARMA 2! This is beta patch but we will ensure that final patch 1.01 (to be released early next week) will install smoothly over this beta patch. Please visit the Game Updates page to download the patch and read more information about it (in German language).
Just an idea :)

I also get "Patch 1.01 was already applied."Same as. Not a great start.
-
Yes its that mission. Ok thanks, not got subs on but will trun them on now so I know whats happenning.
-
Just playing through the SP campaign now all of a sudden I have some background Russian (guess) commentary happenning...
Is this a feature I can turn off or a ...bug... ?
Basically running around and can hear in front of me some conversation that sounds pre-recorded when I hit certain triggers in the map.
Metabolli version with Engrish mod (added as -mod).

Hi all,First time poster, long time stalker here. Just a quick question before I go back to my bush. To play coop on a home LAN do I need to buy two copies of Arma2? Probably an obvious answer I know but I just want to be sure.
Harley
Yes, two copies although you could legally play one copy on both machines but not at the same time :/ defeating the objective I believe.
-
Just for info. I am using Cats 9.4 after doing a load of cleaning the newer drivers out etc. Lets hope the new 9.6's do the job.
-
We need one of those benchmarking runs like the Arma Mark thing from Arma 1.
-
Since using the -noCB command my problems havent come back ??? Does this mean it is now hard coded as such, if so how can I get it back to test crashing and start streaming over multiple cores again ?
-
Nope didn't occur and that with me in the big town, flying Huey and some cows and tanks placed in and around town.
Now, having removed that command and removing a -maxmem=2048 command I have having difficulty getting to happen again.
I also tried reducing the screen size from 1680x1050 to 1440x900 which game some performance but not really worth it.
Trying again with more objects and increased view distance.

Thr0tt are you sure? This is what i do to get the error as fast as possible:- max all graphic settings, everything on highest value, fillrate 100% is ok
- open Tschernarus in editor
- place you inside a chopper at biggest city in south at the coast
- fly around, low at the city, after max 60 seconds you get the error
When having the graphic settings on medium, it takes longer to get the erorr. When graphic settings are on low, the problem seems not to come.
Please doublecheck this.
Will do.
I have been playing for an hour with missions and such like and all seems good at the moment. Most settings are on normal or my machine just grinds to a halt... Phenom II x4 + HD3850 (AGP), 4GB DDR2 (3.5 in use WinXP).
Will post back shortly.

-noCB appears to help but I get more stuttering in game. I will keep testing for a while to see if this just delays the problem. What does noCB do ?
-
Amazing, I have been trying new drivers, new GART, old drivers, cleaning everything as I thought it was a driver issue. My HD3850 is doing the exact same thing !!
The only way currently to run the game without this is setting memory to low in game but this also means textures are low.
I have had this happen in ArmA recently too but on once since last beta patch. I can reproduce this in seconds if Devs want to contact me to test anything or send any reports.

That is what seems to happen but there is also a possibility that rflair just gets hold of them from other sources.
Anyhows, these are broken and do not fix the ArmA2 problem. If it is just driver related then why is it only ArmA2 that is affected ? I mean I can get past the issue as stated before by increasing my AGP Aperture to 512mb but this hugely affects boot time, game exiting and other functions for some reason, PCI-e users do not have this luxury.
