All very well eveyone getting updated...would be better to wait for the server to be updated as we will have nowhere to play lol.
-
Not really played Warfare, not sure this is a major bonus for those who do not. The new Heli is a nice addition.
-
Turn your AF to max in game see if it changes then. I only get that effect if there is smoke behind the trees. BTW this is ArmA2 and its a feature not bug ;@)
-
BIS boys are getting inspiration from a pr0n hub and the terrabytes of d/l's are hampering progress.
Latest beta installed.
-
899 on there now, comical patch releases, thank god its only beta stuff.
-
No mention of the stuffing performance in patches but at least you get your AI thing sorted whatever that was. I just hope they don't release an official patch dropping performance just for some minor AI tweaks that please a few folk.
-
Seems that many got problems with perf. drop. What ever you did in the previous betas i think you should fix this.We shall see if this new one still suffers the same problem. Issue is if they accept these performance drops then add it to the official patch then we will be stuffed. Some textures in cities have a lod issue with the last 2/3 beta's.
Will check later on this one.

Works fine on my XP Pro system. 5.1 surround, all positions work. Also works fine in Windows 7.
-
Tried to arma.cfg with GPU_ bits to 1 or 0 and makes no difference - the last patches have made the game perform poorly on my dated system. Will wait for next beta, rolling back.

maybe maxframes-ahead has changed for you?Maybe, as I am not changing anything this is what my config looks like, If its randomly changing items that will be fun:

i dunno man, i went ingame and cranked it max. on war welcome, 12 man squad, there are guys doing what they do and explosions, fire, gunfire all over the place, it played absolutely flawelessly. thats with view distance maxed too.i only have 2 gig of 667 ram and its cheap stuff ddr2
so i dunno it seems to have worked the oposit way for me.
Weird isnt it, if they fix the issue in this beta then it may be better for me and work worse for you... this is the world of ArmA.
-
Performance well down again, laggy mess for me now.
-
W7 works better than XP on my rig for some reason. No major issues since having both OS installed. On ArmA Mark II I always get a 10-12 score, if that somehow got 'fixed' the game would run perfectly.
-
Well I think I fixed it on my system. Changing the Video Memory setting (why is this even a setting, shouldn't the game automatically use all available video RAM) from Default to Very High and the problems stopped.I've got a 1gb HD4870 and I don't know if using the default setting caused it to be detected wrong and cause memory errors (which then causes the polygon tearing).
If the problem has happened then there is a very high possibility it will come again. Memory allocation will only delay the effect.
-
Performance is better than the dip in the last beta.
-
588 is up, testing now.
-
Last beta effected performance for me in a poor way.
-
The performance of this game, compared to most other modern games is atrocious and that is blatantly obvious to anyone who browses this forum.
Which game would you compare it to so we can do some direct comparisons, which other game has a single island with AI spread all over it, real-time night/day cycles, pp effects etc.
I agree the game is erratic in nature. My rig it is playable, I would say that if I had the cash then the 5970 or 5870 would have sorted it I think but alas just the 5850...
-
I bought the German downloaded version and the UK retail - If you install the German, uninstall then install the UK retail it keeps hold of the starforce or whatever it uses and as such you have the UK version installed and the German (no dvd) copy protection.
Works a treat, also as mentioned, the beta's do not have the disk check copy protection in the .exe.

4890's are going cheap now due to the 5xxx series that are now out, 5850 works nicely here, maybe thats the issue ?

Hey Guys,Sorry to triple post. If anyone could enlighten me as to my previous post/question it would be greatly appreciated.
Its post #307. Just before TJAlol got a little cranky ;).
Thank you very much.
Try my settings above. Some of the options in very high screw the game up completely so my settings I think I have a good compromise. You may need to disable AA but see how it goes.
Other than that then hope for a magical fps fix from BI although each patch appears to help...saying that, have you tried the latest beta patch ?

View Distance: 3500
Interface and 3D: 1650x1080
Texture Detail: Normal
Video Memory: Normal
AF: Very High
AA: High
Terrain Detail: Normal
Objects Detail: High
Shadow Detail: High
Postprocess Effects: High
FPS: 30 - 60 mainly in between in most situations.
Tried last night with VD at 10k which was ok but noticed a little stuttering so left it at 3500 which works best for my rig.

Wow, you guys are a riot.I did run with PP off since ArmA2 came out.
Along with 100's of other people, I could not run with PP on because the blur cause my brain great discomfort.
So I did something about it.
Now I can run with PP on, and it looks nice. I like all the other effects. Honestly the only reason the radialBlur is disabled is because that's what I started working on first. I really don't mind the running blur.
What is your problem?
Can't make everyone happy I guess. I don't even know why you would comment on it if you didn't think the blur was a problem.

Sorry, they must use the same shader. Without someone that can read and understand the code fully in assembly, the shader can only be left alone or disabled completely.
lol, only playing with you, its a matter of choice if folk use it or not. Personally I would like yo see all the effects in the game usable by everyone but if they are not then mods like these can help folk get rid of them.
Some games don't give you the option to remove the effects and that way the playing field is equal, if your sight is blurred due to granade or fatigue on one side and someone modded all the 'negative' affects out then in a competetive game you would lose out. If there is an in game option to turn off grass then most likely people will use it as it gives them an advantage etc. but as all the pp effects are optional and not forced server side then I guess this is purely a graphical nice to have.
I am glad I can run it all on high now with AA to normal, before I too had to disable all PP effects. :) Now, can you make me and me alone a mod that helps me shoot straight ? ;)
1.05 Benchmark Mission Results

Maybe benchmark was the wrong thing to call them but maybe stress test ? People looking at these shockingly low figures on moderately high end systems are going to be so put off.
Not sure why the 2nd bend was that much worse in performance for all, should I be getting 15fps on my low end system ? What did BIS get when they ran it and what settings as a 'goal' ?
