    ATI Catalyst 9.7 is here

Just for reference for those who believe these are the saviours of the game: LEAKED Driver Packaging Version 8.631-090625a-082375C-ATI Catalystâ„¢ Version 09.7 Provider ATI Technologies Inc. 2D Driver Version 6.14.10.6973 2D Driver File Path System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Video/{29A89013-67FE-4497-8322-2DAF02823BD9}/0000 Direct3D Version 6.14.10.0678 OpenGL Version 6.14.10.8784 Catalystâ„¢ Control Center Version 2009.0520.1631.27815 AIW/VIVO WDM Driver Version 6.14.10.6238 AIW/VIVO WDM SP Driver Version 6.14.10.6238 OFFICIAL Driver Packaging Version 8.632-090702a-084680C-ATI Catalystâ„¢ Version 09.7 Provider ATI Technologies Inc. 2D Driver Version 6.14.10.6973 2D Driver File Path System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Video/{29A89013-67FE-4497-8322-2DAF02823BD9}/0000 Direct3D Version 6.14.10.0678 OpenGL Version 6.14.10.8787 Catalystâ„¢ Control Center Version 2009.0702.1239.20840 AIW/VIVO WDM Driver Version 6.14.10.6238 AIW/VIVO WDM SP Driver Version 6.14.10.6238 ---------- Post added at 09:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:06 PM ---------- Cool, so same drivers but better results, you sire have fallen for the placebo effect.
  2. Turn off cool n quiet if its enabled, I gained 2 fps doing this.
  3. wooly, this is more of a One Show throw away article, no way WatchDog would touch it although would be cool for Nicky Campbell to get his teeth into it.
  4. I get 14-60 FPS, depending on where I am on the map, amazingly trees and grass has little to no effect on FPS. Settings everything on normal, pp=low, 1680x1050 screen and 1440x900 game. Buildings are the killer, the texture load and stutter throws the frames, if they sorted buildings out, fixed the textures then all would see performance increases, probably.

    ATI Catalyst 9.7 is here

Well you must be one of the unlucky folk with faulty hardware like me.
  6. I have to score the post 8/10, the overall readability was good, structure was well presented, nothing too hateful for folk to jump on and nothing too loving of the game or BI either. Some overuse of the word 'shocked' had a negative effect on my score of the thread as it made me feel that the seriousness had been diminished by a very emotive word. Keep up the good work.

    ATI Catalyst 9.7 is here

Well I guess the question is, did these drivers fix all the issues with the ArmA game engine so now everything fliles, no graphical corruption, no CTD's, streaming no longer makes machines stutter, LOD switching is fixed with no massive popups in and around towns, that sort of thing. Not sure if ATI is going to fix ArmA for BI but lets hope.

Same version as the ones that got 'leaked' a couple of weeks ago ?

    ARMA 2: Merchandise. For Sale?

I hear that you will have to find a T-Shirt that will accept the ArmA 2 art as some T-Shirts work and others don't, aparently all the T-Shirts that BI tested on worked perfectly with maximum resolution although users are saying that when they stencil on there similar spec'd T-Shirts (XXXL phatty PC gamers size) with the potatos supplied they get all sorts of distortion and some don't even come out.

How Could I Make a Slow Motion Mod?

I suggest posting this in the mod request section, you may get a clever bod in there helping with scripts etc. :) Let me know if I typed this slow enough for you ? ;)

    ARMA 2: Merchandise. For Sale?

How about a T-Shirt with "I've truely been fugged by Bohemia Interactive... have you ?" with the WWII finger pointing out and the ArmA II box art on the back ? Should be easy enough to reproduce. Saying that, any advertisement is good advertisment and I wouldn't condome trying to market this until it worked so lets all keep quiet and cover your games in brown paper in shame.

    Ram limit hard-coded?

Ekre, surely if you midifiy the exe then FADE kicks in... but if it was this simple then maybe BI left it out for a reason ?

    Patch 1.03

..but if they call you "ducky" right behind you then I suggest running...

    Way to limit framerate?

V-Sync = On, Refresh Rate = Desired Frame Rate Cap. Just a guess but may work i.e. edit ArmA2.CFG refresh rate to "15" should give you reliable fps as this is the normal rate for this game.

    Still no new patch?!?

Yay, patch threads. I agree we need the patch. Hurrah, did my bit.
  16. Sorry does that mean you don't have the AGP version or you don't think you have the AGP version ? I understand English may not be your first language, just reply 'I have the PCIe version' or 'I have the AGP version' to simplify it. Of course if you don't have the AGP one then you will need to wait like everyone else here for BI to recognise the fault then fix it which may be several patches away.

    AMD 3800 and 6000 X2 CPU

Check my sig., I am waiting to upgrade mobo and GPU and can confirm ArmA II runs poorly on this config so if i were you I would go full hog and get PCIe with relevant CPU/GPU combo for performance but to date there is no standard system built to run this game, it is pot luck.
  18. If you are using the AGP version then increase your AGP Aperture in the BIOS to 512MB, that will resolve the issue. Otherwise you are stuffed like the rest of the folk here.

    Metaboli to DVD = NoCD

Yeah, thought of that and removed all the directories, copied the saves and profiles out but completely removed the Bohemia directory. Did a reg check to to see if there were any traces but there were none. Just going through a manual removal of Securom now to see if that is the issue. I know it sounds a bit odd wanting to prompt for the DVD in the drive but I just wanted to make sure that my copy is just using the UK version as I want to give my Metaboli version away to someone. If it still don't prompt then I guess I am the lucky one who has a legit noCD crack working :/ Edit: Ok, it seems that the Metaboli one leaves the SecuROM crap there so even though you use the DVD and UK serial it still uses the downloaded version of SecuROM thus not needing the DVD in the drive, I wonder if a 'normal' user then can us this to bypass the DVD check by installing the SecuROM stuff but using their legit DVD / serial to authenticate...
  20. Had the Metaboli version and uninstalled in favour of the UK DVD version and now for some reason I am still not asked to insert the DVD when playing. To be sure I uninstalled again for fun, ran CCleaner to remove entries, Starforce Removal Tool, Securom Removal Tool rebooted a few times and reinstalled the DVD version... Still I have no prompt when starting the game for the DVD, is this right ? Or... how do I completely remove whatever Metaboli put on my system to stop this happenning ? I assume the DVD requires a CD check on startup or did I just waste my time lol ?

    Metaboli to DVD = NoCD

I am using the DVD key as the Metaboli one is for German language only.
  22. Oh my, standard answer, overheating. Morbo, this is the standard issue with 'some' hardware configurations and the ArmA engine. It is the same issue as stated in the sticky, initially overheating was the simplest way for folk to respond and I am sorry, it is not overheating issues. Until BI fix the issue you are stuck with it, they refuse to admit they are working on this issue and most posts from BI want you to believe you have hardware issues... check the numbers and the exact sam issue on many of our cards and you will see it ONLY happens on ArmA 2. Just wait around here for the magical fix (if any).
  23. Not sure I understand your questions, are you saying that you don't understand what I have written and would like some clarification ? The second andswer, again, not sure but do you not think it refers to the 'shortened' quote ? You should try Twitter, now that IS hard to follow. ---------- Post added at 06:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:29 PM ---------- You are right, ArmA 2 is the only game out there that demands the most from a computer. I didn't think of that but it is so state of the art that there is no other game on the market that can ask so much of a gaming PC. :j:
