  1. My guess is that 'recognising' the issues would be a great first step rather than leaving the posts to boil on their own. Obviously if BIS never see the issues first hand or beileve the game works 100% then I can undertstand why no posts are made stating they are working on a possible fix. Yes, its great patches come and go but we are never sure what issues you are working on if you are not recognisiong some of the major (for some) ones here in the forums. For poor comms and really bad customer service just go have a look at the Codemasters forums... Oh, and they have a similar game coming out later this year, my bet is it will receive the Codemasters Platinum Null Support certificate and leave customers completely in the cold like all their other titiles.

    Updated Steam version...

What other games do you own on steam ? And have you tried updating those with a retail patch instead of the steam auto patcher ? Use the search function as you have just screwed your game up. (Save u time, just verify local game files repairs aparently) The Steam version IS the latest like all us retail folk have.
  4. cosmokev, thanks for that, I have a spare drive and will try Win7 over the next few days.

    Patch 1.03?

ste4lth004, why are you running XP and have 6Gig of RAM when it can only handle 3.5Gb ? I guess you bought it ready to upgrade OS to Vista or Win7 that can use / recognise it ?
  6. I'm sorry if 18 pages of problems is tough to read but start at page 1 and you will see that is not an overheating issue. Speedfan, ATT, slapping a bif mofo fan to the side of your PC will not solve this issue for 99.9% of folk with this problem that only happens in this game. Please view the amount of things everyone has tried to do to fix the issue then comment on what you believe the issue is rather than the default 'overheating', 'not enoug VRAM', 'defrag', etc.
  7. Wow, its solved, many thanks, please post again soon, bye.

    FPS drop with time

Shift - flush, do this during quiet mission times.
  9. Cool, has anyone in BI seen the issue first hand or because you have not had the problem it doesn't really exist ? I am sure there are plenty of people here who would be more than happy to help you fix the problem. So.. I am also guessing that as you have not seen the issue it is not intended to be a fix in the next patch. Also note that this issue has appeared on X1950XT, HD3850, not sure which others but these two are confirmed not just the 4xxx series.

    Graphic issue artifacts

So even if you have aperture to 512mb you still get issue, hmm. Turn off fastwrites and side banding ? How much RAM do you have ? Also, once you have changed the bios you didnt set the arma2.cfg to read only did you ?

    Graphic issue artifacts

[DA]DIZ, I have documented the 'temporary' solution in the other thread about corruption, if you increase your Aperture to 512MB (mine does and I have HD3850) you will not see corruption again with low/normal or high textures and/or memory. This will slow the boot up of windows and exiting will seem to hang in Windows but it will come back to life after 30-45 seconds. This is a work around not a fix.

    Memory Issues??

Its funny that whatever forums and whatever game has an issue every other person 'used to be a developer' or 'worked in games industry' and somehow knows best, well I work in the cable industry and have done for the past 10 years doesn't make me an expert in this game nor do I profess to be. If a company releases specifications that are optimal then that means this is what we should run the game on. We all know that minimum is just that, the least system spec to get the game functioning. On your system with 2Gb of VRAM it runs optimally whereas it should run on the spec'd out optimum system as stated. It is a fact that the game has issues and doesn't run as it should on many system configurations, if it works for you then there is no point trying to assist in 'fixing' other folks machine unless you did something drastically differently from everyone else to get it from a poor performing game to an optimally running work of art. On the added '...or more' statement, of course you would put that, adding memory or VRAM won't harm a system so if you have over spec'd then it shouldn't be detrimental to the game engine... Next patch will solve everyones issues, screen corruption, optimisation, lag, mouse lag, dodgy controls etc., maybe you can help them with your 2 year work experience ?
  13. Cool, lower grass will give me that edge on MP games over the competition plus with the reduced dust (smoke ?) and animations I should be able to spot those snipers easier. I assume this is MP compatible (other than removal of wildlife). Can you also remove sun glare so I can hit the enemy even when staring into the suns direction...

    Memory Issues??

Sorry but you are talking out your backside or are you calling the devs liars ? Minimal PC System Requirements •Dual Core CPU (Intel Pentium 4 3.0 GHz, Intel Core 2.0 GHz, AMD Athlon 3200+ or faster) •1 GB RAM •GPU (Nvidia Geforce 7800 / ATI Radeon 1800 or faster) with Shader Model 3 and 256 MB VRAM •Windows XP •DVD (Dual Layer compatible), 10 GB free HDD space Optimal PC System Requirements •Quad Core CPU or fast Dual Core CPU (Intel Core 2.8 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or faster) •2 GB RAM •Fast GPU (Nvidia Geforce 8800GT or ATI Radeon 4850 or faster) with Shader Model 3 and 512 or more MB VRAM •Windows XP or Windows Vista •DVD (Dual Layer compatible), 10 GB free HDD space Optimal PC System Requirements •Quad Core CPU or fast Dual Core CPU (Intel Core 2.8 GHz or AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ or faster) •2 GB RAM •Fast GPU (Nvidia Geforce 8800GT or ATI Radeon 4850 or faster) with Shader Model 3 and 512 or more MB VRAM •Windows XP or Windows Vista •DVD (Dual Layer compatible), 10 GB free HDD space
  15. Thanks Mr Centipede, but if you read this and many other threads this is not a simple overclocking issue, if it was don't you think it would be sorted ? The issue happens on some systems with these and other ATI cards in, you are one of the lucky ones where it doesn't happen, good for you.

    So few PvP serves?

PvP = PvWhoHasBestFPS. I can't play as I find the frame rate too erratic and not responsive enough, playing against the AI is just about workable. Now if I had one of those machines that the game ran well on then maybe this would interest me, by Phenom II x4 955 BE just doesn't cut it anymore it seems.
  17. lol, and there you just showing him what happens in game. Didn't realise he was a dev, thought he was a mod only. Kept that quiet if true.
  18. http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?t=33947597 These are the release candidates for the next set of AMD/ATI drivers for XP. The problem with graphical corruption still exisits and I understand is a game engine problem which will most likely not be fixed. I did get some increases in performance (100 points in ArmAMarkII) so may be worth a shot if you are up for testing.

    AHCI or IDE ?

    Fascinating http://www.google.co.uk/finance?client=ob&q=NASDAQ:AHCI
  20. Little or no feedback on their site for these drivers apart from a corrupt install for XP. You say they gave you improved performance ? How are you measuring your performance gains or is it 'perceived' performance increases ? Just curious, may give them a go although normal 9.7 RC's are pretty nice.

    Uninstalling..

This is what happens when you spend so much time trying to get a game working, it will turn you against it no matter now what patches or fixes come to the rescue. This is why BIS came up with a few patches fairly quickly but alas some folk will still have the major deal breaking issues like screen corruption, crashing, unable to run etc. - This is a minority otherwise there would be many more posts. Do what I did with GTA4, play a bit, get annoyed, leave it till next patch, do it all over again. Or worse still, Alone in the Dark, wow, that was the single most crapiest controlled game ever so much so I had to uninstall it after the 2nd or 3rd scene and actually threw it in the bin.

    Patch 1.03 next week?

I heard that patch 1.04 is the one you really want, its meant to be the best patch out of them all. Saying that, my preference i the 1.05 patch as it looks a bit better and should be with us in the future whereas 1.04 may be nearer but the other one looks like a rounder figure.

Having a ton of fun with Evolution!

So, who is to blame ? Stop playing on the servers that have these modes then they will stop hosting them, simple, its not automatic there are humans who run the servers and put whatever missions they feel works.

    GPU/CPU load unbalanced

Can I suggest turning off Cool'n Quiet (or similar) if you have that enabled, it may be a BIOS setting or your desktop power settings if you have it. For some reason if I use that I lose performance, need performance not a world I guess ;)
