Fantastic! I await with breath baited.

And a few more... Could we have an Extra Lite version? Maybe Optimised for <10 players? I was playing this on my server with just 2 others for ages and we loved it, but the amount of vehicles and aircraft available to us was a bit overkill and might lessen the load on the server if it was cut down a bit? When an objective is complete, the only notification you get is the coloured hatched circle around the objective is removed. It's a very minor point but an "objective complete" notification would be cool. I know you wanted to keep the addon requirements down, and the Hind is a lovely thing, but I was wondering if you could be persuaded to drop the Mapfact airpack in there too? The chinook would be way cool and our pilot was longing for an Apache - the Cobra is a bit too flimsy for him! I notice the vehicles were respawning. I like it when the supply of hardware dries up after a while. An endless source of Abrams is fun, but having them run out after a while is good too. The Abrams is a maybe a bit too good, IMO. The T72's don't stand a chance. We got through a huge amount of M1's, possibly ten or more and there was only 2 of us using them. If we had been forced to go get a repair truck, rather than just dump the tank and go get another one, that would certainly add another dimension to this. This really is a nice, simple, fun mission. Refreshingly clear and bug free. None of this "respawn is for n00bs" rubbish. It's playable, fun and extensive. Fantastic. It definitely gets the TeamSPAFF approval. Oh and kudos for making it in 1.07!

As far as I can see, all ArmaTech's program does is make a GUI to write the server config file for you. While it's useful to an extent, it's not even close to what the original poster asked for.

Is there an error message?

Mapfact releases: AH-64A and CH-47D v1.08
Tankbuster replied to raedor's topic in ARMA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
AH64 bug. When I was gunning in a 16*Hellfire armed 64, we noticed a bug. When I, the gunner fired the main gun, we didn't see any bullet hits. When the pilot put manual fire on, we could see bullet hits. (dedicated server 1.05beta + both clients 1.05 beta) -
Can't say. Me and my clan mates just helped with some extended testing on my dedicated server.

You aren't very clear in your question? Is the server browser screen empty? Does the game crash when you try to join a game? Did it stop working just after you applied a patch? Sometimes, Windows firewall sees that a program has been modified when you patch it and thinks it may have been hijacked by a naughty and blocks it's access to the intarweb. Try turning off your firewall for a few seconds and trying it. Also, have you accidentally put in some filters in the MP browser? edit: PS, your sig pic is broken.

I did some work with UNN on a later version of this in OFP. It was buggy as hell and very laggy, but it did fly well (maybe a little too well) and looked fantastic! I see you've found some of the problems!

Being one of the poor 8800 GTX owners who has rolled back from 1.07, I was wondering... Is it possible to copy the A10 pbos from 1.07 into the addons dir of a 1.05b install? Would it work or would it break the game?
-
Doesn't the AUG have a vertical foregrip? I'm not sure I'd want to be the soldier holding that barrel without any heat guards.
-
Oh Jesus. Where to start? Flickering ground textures, A10 floating in the air without landing gear, pilot textures unloaded, map icons are just coloured blocks, CTD when changing video settings in-mission. C2D E6600 and 8800 GTX and XP Pro 1.06 was way better than this. This is a big step backwards.

You're not wrong. Helicopters, by and large, don't have rudders (a vertical control surface that moves to control yaw) in the accepted sense. The forward airflow is disrupted by the downdraft from the main rotor so much that any vertical tail surfaces simply don't work. They do have rudder controls (IRL, pedals), but these don't actually work a rudder, the change the amount of anti torque supplied by the tail rotor. This produces yaw effect.

I'll take some fraps footage to show you. Don't know if it's relevant, but this was on my 1.05+beta server. edit to add, when I say buzzing, I don't mean a sound bug, I mean driving around, just offshore. You'll see what I mean when I make a vid to show you, this evening.
-
I'm not sure. The boats were buzzing around as if they were being driven, yet they were empty.
-
I found some unexpected things with this mission. The 'enemy' boats that hang around just offshore seem to be empty, yet they buzz around. The briefing is a little unclear and maybe, the mission is too complex.

#init doesn't work? Or does it? I don't know quite what to expect. Will this restart the server? Sort of #shutdown /restart imed
-
I guess too, but does it actually work? I couldn't see any evidence of it.

I had one of the very first versions of this game. I got the German download 1.00, patched it to English and played it on my Athlon 3200+ with a gig of ram and a 7600 GS. It was dreadful. Really bad. Now, a thousand pounds poorer, but I have the DVD EU version which I've patched with the 1.05 beta, running on a C2D E6600 with 2 gigs of ram and an 8800GTX. I've just been playing a couple of MP missions (the PC mentioned in p1 is now my dedicated server ) with a few mates. In 1440x900 with pretty much everything turned up to hooge, it looks just extraordinary and still turns out 30 FPS. I am converted. This game is a hit. It will be a massive seller. I was among some of BIS's harshest critics but now I'm elated to eat my humble pie and with a combination of new hardware, a couple of patches and one or two good user MP missions, it's been transformed into an absolute winner. Perfect it aint, but if the improvements keep coming at the same rate they have done (especially 1.05 and 1.05beta) then I hope to see more people coming around to my way. I expect the US release might come with a new patch, probably 1.06. BIS, my hat is officially off to you! PS, I've never used one before, but... here goes...

I can't imagine a weaker come back. Other than this one, of course.

You must feel compelled to post your "I think ArmA's flawed" opinion at every possible opportunity, eh? Try doing something instead of just bitching, you might be surprised at the results. Use the bug tracker, post constructive feedback, do something aside from just complaining. As to the issue at hand, this has been brought up before in the past. It is no-doubt on the "To Do" list, but how long it may take to get addressed is up for question. I am in fact doing something. You might have heard of Project USTP, there I am a developer bringing in my ideas to provide a guideline of realism for addonmakers and such. And yes I "bitch" about because this is something that has to be discussed. ArmA has many flaws which decrease realism and fun in MP and SP games. Surely this is a reason to complain. How can for example 180x 5.56mm ammo disable a Humvee while 270x 7.62mm (with greater power) do the same ? Shouldnt the 7.62mm value be less than 180x ?? And you want me not to mention it ? I have post it on the buglist too by the way, so please do some more research before accusing someone. The topicstarter complained about the Mk19s recoil and I told him that not only that grenadelauncher but many are things are not okay in ArmA. Why should people play a game with this circumstances and rarely people complain about this basic must. But yeah go ahead and defend ArmA because it has good graphics ... Do you feel the need to jump on every post that says "all might not be well on Planet ArmA"?B edit; Bah, quoted wrong post.

I lied about my age.
-
If I'm totally honest - deep down, I was too, but it didn't stop me being vociferous. I had to be - we all did - it's our duty. I didn't play OFP from the early days, but good friends of mine who did say it was just as bad as ArmA 1.00. I wonder what comparative level of OFP we think ArmA has reached now? Clearly, it isn't at 1.96 (the only version I played) but it's WAY way ahead of 1.00

I didn't hurt as such. I'm glad to be able to retract the horrid things I said about BIS and v1.02.

It's an English coloquialism. To 'sit on the fence' means to not express a view on a subject that is clear cut and often devisive. When one does express an opinion, you are said to have "come down on one side of the fence". As I said, I was openly on one side of the fence and now scrub notes I'm on the other side.
