Question about server bandwidth
Tankbuster replied to l mandrake's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - MULTIPLAYER
20Mb/s down and 768Kb/s up for that connection, but Virgin are rolling out a 50Mb/s which has 1.5Mb/s upload. Ive been hosting mi dedi box on the 20/.76 connection for ages. It can cope with 6-7 players with no problems. -
I had forest fires working fine in arma 1.04, domination 1.03 I'm fine tuning 'tactical forest fires' :) with a little skill and a lot of luck, you can take down AI using forest fire. Mind you, I am still using the last testing beta, I really should get to the final version.

Being able to map double tap buttons to keyboard is a wonderful feature. When we have so many controls and keystrokes it's a god send. I particularly like one that was suggested to me; 'ctrl e' once for 'get out', 'ctrl e X 2' for eject. Makes so much sense. But I can't make this work for joystick. I'd like to have single tap on a joystick button for 'get out' and doubletap the same button for 'eject'. If this can't be made to work from the game interface, is it possible do do it via a file edit?

Having spawned forest fire a different colour was useful in testing. We would crash aircraft into forests (it was a hard grind... no fun at all) to start fires and having the actual aircraft fire a different colour from the spawned fire help us bugfixing. Now that we've moved on, perhaps we should have the actual fire colour dependent on *what is actually being burnt*. Perhaps building alight should be yellow, while trees should be be orange?

It was motherboard software shouting 'danger'?

Not receiving email reply notifications from BIS
Tankbuster replied to zeep's topic in BOHEMIA INTERACTIVE - GENERAL
I've suddenly started getting these emails this afternoon after not getting them for a number of weeks. -
I did read it, but thought I could expand on your understanding of it. Hope it helped. :)

You can get ammo crates from the MHQ if you've got "old ammo crate handling" turned on in the game. Look for my posts in the domination thread where I asked for this old feature to be brought back as an option in later versions of the game. If you don't enable this, you can call in ammo drops from a C130. You can call them to be dropped where you need them (the drops are quite accurate) or you can have them dropped on the airfield and then load them into the MHQ.

Some small changes that would make a huge difference
Tankbuster replied to Tonci87's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Good call. The commanders gun is practically unuseable in multiplayer because of this. -
Will my PC Run this? What CPU/GPU to get? What settings? System Specifications.
Tankbuster replied to Placebo's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - QUESTIONS & ANSWERS
His post was completely necessary, because what you said was, by most opinions, wrong. -
It's just a name for a group of players. Some teams and squads think they are more 1337 by using a newer term, but at the end of the day, clan = squad = team

Will BI still release betas like they used to?
Tankbuster posted a topic in ARMA 2 & OA - BETA PATCH TESTING
This more frequent use of beta builds is a very nice idea, it gives us confidence that the developers are actually doing stuff on the game - "patch will be ready when it's ready" was an insult to paying customers in my opinion, but it leads me to the following question. Are we still going to get occasional "official" beta releases as we used to get, or will patches from now on be full update versions? -
This was something that was discussed during beta testing. DM originally had his own, proprietary system that should have broadcast fires between clients, without server side software, but despite lots of testing, it didn't work, so he had to fall back on the traditional server-client relationship. As far as I understand, this has some implications for JIP players, in that their updates are rather slower than originally planned.

I had player fire damage, but in an earlier version. I haven't tested the release version either.

Xfire: Now includes fix for ArmA2 compatibility
Tankbuster replied to alef's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Xfire updated itself today and now it's stopped working, despite the fix still being in place in the ini file :( Correction. I added Kremators code [5856_2] and it's working again. -
WIP JTD Fire And Smoke
Tankbuster replied to dmarkwick's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: DISCUSSION
The rolling, tumbling smoke cloud looks nice and it's something I mentioned to DM a while back. Yours doesn't disperse though, even in calm weather, a column of smoke, even that from a diesel fuel fire, doesn't stay that contiguous as it rises into the air. -
Need a "for gods sake shut up" command..
Tankbuster replied to BeerHunter's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
I'm amused by the thought of AI saying "F***, my face" instead of "F*** my leg". Is that so very wrong? -

A second 5.56 to the face just to press home the point then. :) -
