    CWR2 coop pack

Sorry for the third post in a row, but in case anyone is interested in playing CWR2 and especially Sander's missions in coop on a biweekly basis (Saturdays, 4pm UK time), check out this thread.
  2. I'm looking for an armory/'lobby' mission - something that allows us to wait for players in-game, test ACRE and faff about with weapons and vehicles before the actual mission begins. Nothing overly fancy, no need for mission objectives or the like, just something like 16 available slots so people can meet up in-game and wait for the others. I've heard good things about ARMEX and Losis, though I don't know how they compare or whether they're the right missions for this kind of thing. Any suggestions would be very welcome!
  3. Not sure if people still read this thread, but just in case: what happens if the server has this mod installed but only some players? Do those players without Volume Control have any effect (i.e. they hear the voices of those using the mod more or less loudly), do they hear others as if no one was using Volume Control, or does anything else happen?

    CWR2 coop pack

Quick update: it's now happened in "Arch Order" and "Hammer Beam", both times the same way: combat starts, but after a few shots from the enemy the game crashes. It only happens in multiplayer, not when I play the mission on my own, and it also happens when all the non-CWR2 relevant mods are deactivated. I've posted the same in a different thread - http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?183960-Operation-Arrowhead-%28-CWR2-mod%29-odd-freeze-crash-on-entering-firefight - but I thought some of the people here might have run into the same problem. Any help would be much appreciated. Edit: Also, a couple of missions don't start; the message I get is "Mission contains a bad link to a static object. Open it in the editor and save it again." The same thing happened with some of the Red Hammer missions, where the problem appears to have been that the missions were written for an outdated version for CWR2. Any idea whether there'll be an updated version of Sander's coop pack?
  5. I've had the following weird issue today: while playing the Cold War Rearmed 2 mod in multiplayer on a dedicated server, my game froze and crashed a couple of times. It was in one particular coop mission only, and only after we'd entered into a firefight. The other mods I'm using are pretty standard: JSRS, CBA, sthud. I know this is very little information to go on; I'm happy to provide more info, but I don't know what might be relevant in this situation. Since my friend's game didn't crash, I'm at a loss as to what it might be; it doesn't seem to have been CWR2 or the mission as such. Here's the crash log, in case this helps: Exception code: C0000005 ACCESS_VIOLATION at 0053C0A5 Allocator: D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\dll\tbb4malloc_bi.dll graphics: D3D9, Device: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680, Driver:nvd3dum.dll 9.18.13.3523 resolution: 1920x1080x32 Addons: ... 6. I've tested this some more, and even with the non-CWR2 mods deactivated it still crashes - and I've found that it does the same in Sander's mission "Hammer Beam", which is also one of the CWR2 ones. Again, same thing: as soon as the firefight starts, after a couple of shots are exchanged, I get a crash to desktop, complete with a message saying that OA has stopped working. Is there any easyish way for me to tell what the common factors are between those two missions?
  7. Thanks a lot! It's hard as nails (hence the "Red Hammer", eh?) but great fun. Without the bugs, it'll be even better!
  8. Thanks, will check that out. ---------- Post added at 09:49 ---------- Previous post was at 08:29 ---------- Actually, I wonder whether it might be the following: on my server, I've got the latest versions of the Sander missions, whereas the computer I use to play the game had older versions of the missions in its mpmissions folder. Is it possible that this would cause a conflict?

    CWR2 coop pack

Not sure whether this thread is the right place to ask, but I don't know where would be better. I just played an online session of CWR2 with a friend via our dedicated server; in particular, we played Arch Order, a mission in Eilte. When we engaged the enemy, my game froze and then crashed to the desktop, but only after fire was exchanged. I've got all the most recent versions of the CWR2 files and I'm playing with the final 1.62 beta patch before the game switched to 1.63. We also play using ACRE. My friend's game continued okay, by the way; no crashes on his side. I had a look at the crash log but don't know what I'd need to look for. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I don't think it's due to CWR2 or Sander's missions, but those are the only leads I've got at the moment.
  10. If this has already been asked, or if this is considered the wrong thread for the question, my apologies: Is it possible to have two installations of TS3 (e.g. one 32bit and one 64bit) so I can run one with the appropriate version for ACRE/Arma 2 and the other with TFAR/Arma 3? Or am I wrong in thinking that I need different versions of TS3 to run TFAR and ACRE?
  11. Yup, that's what I've done (although I think I may have tripled it). Haven't tested it yet, but am planning to do so on Saturday.
  12. I have a few questions about creating a dedicated Arma 2/OA server that I'm hoping the community can help me with. I've been hosting the occasional small MP session for 3-6 people, playing on the same computer that hosts the sessions. Recently we've used Evolve to play via virtual LAN, with mixed results - some sessions worked just fine, others much less. However, I've got an E6600 with 4GB of RAM and was wondering if it'd make sense and improve things to use it as a dedicated server for those sessions. My questions are as follows: 1) Is this likely to improve performance (and possibly stability) for myself and the other players compared to launching an MP session on the computer I play on? 2) Is it possible/feasible to use that E6600 to launch a Teamspeak 3 server at the same time, so we can play with ACRE or Task Force Radio? 3) My max upload speed at home is 2 Mbit/s; I take it that's more immediately relevant than the download speed, which is up to 20 Mbit/s. Is this generally okay for coop sessions with 3-6 players? 4) Anything to watch out when setting up the server? I'm aware of some of the tools and possible pitfalls, but I've never yet set up a dedicated server for anything. Many thanks in advance for your replies! P.S.: I've also posted this on the server admin subboard, but I wasn't sure which of the two was the better fit for this thread. Mods, please feel free to delete one of the threads if it's a problem to have both!
  13. Just to let everyone know: I ran a test session on Saturday with myself connecting from the same network as the server and three others joining from outside. My spare PC managed running the Arma/TS3 servers just fine and pings were at a manageable ~60ms. The only problem we ran into was the TS3 spam protection, which I'll have to tweak for next time. (It was fun to have the TS3 voice going "Error, error" for a few minutes - with perfectly localisable 3D audio coming from one of the other players!) Thanks to everyone for your help with this!
  14. Yup, should be able to test that soon. It works if I try to connect remotely from my main PC using the external IP address, but I have no idea whether the computer or the network somehow resolves that into the network-internal IP address. I'm pretty much an idiot when it comes to network questions, dedicated servers and the like. Anyway, again, thank you very much for the help! Curious to see how well the old computer and my internet connection fare.
  15. Thanks! Question about the Steam ports: do I need to forward these if I don't want the server to show up on Steam and instead give the other players the IP to connect to remotely?
  16. Brilliant, thanks a lot for those answers! I've set up and tested the dedicated server and at least within my home network it works, even when I use the outward IP. Of course, this doesn't mean that it'll work for others, but it's a first step. I'll have to see how the E6600 runs things, but this autumn/winter I'm planning to buy a new computer, which would mean that my current PC (i7 950) would become the new dedicated server. I'll also be changing to a faster internet provider, which again should improve things. If it works in this setup, chances are it'll work better in a couple of months once I've made the changes. Thanks also for the ts3.veterans-gaming.com offer! I'll try running a TS3 server myself to begin with, but if this doesn't work or if the computer/connection aren't quite up to it, I'm glad that there are other options. I'll also make sure to check out the Arma 3 dedicated server threads. Good to know there's a good repository of knowledge!

Thanks for the info and thanks for the new missions!

My apologies if this has been asked before, but are Abel, Cain, Adam, Noe and David islands I need to download separately to make use of those missions?
  20. In the hope that some people are still reading this thread: I've got the following problem. Steam labels the beta version of Operation Arrowhead as obsolete, yet I can't get sthud working with the non-beta version. Do I just stick with beta, regardless of its reported obsolesence?

TrackIR - Does it add £130 worth of fun?

Keep in mind that Dslyecxi's impressions are from one year ago, and the OR is quite a bit further than this, in terms of resolution, the screen door effect and latency.

    ArmA 2 Game Launcher

This has been asked a couple of times, in different places, but I haven't yet found any solutions that worked: is there any way I can use the Arma 2 Launcher without losing the Steam overlay? I play with a couple of people and we usually voice chat via Steam, but while I can hear the others when they chat the game doesn't register me pressing the Steam voice chat button, which apparently is linked to the overlay not working. (Arma 2 voice chat works, but it's patchy.)
  23. This may have been asked before, but the forum's search function is resisting me. I've been wanting to try out the most recent version's campaign, but I'm having the following problem in the training mission: I'm ordered to board the truck, but I don't get the option to board in my action menu, (apparently) regardless where I approach from. Not sure whether it's connected, but the rest of the squad doesn't follow either, standing to attention in the yard instead as they do when the mission begins. I use a couple of mods, but AFAIK they shouldn't interfere: sthud, stmovement, CBA, a sound mod and a couple of islands. Any suggestions, other than using the 'endmission' cheat?
