I was going to make a Falklands mission next. Someone requested it so I was going to oblige. I was going to use the Malvinas mod units because when I downloaded their teaser about a year ago, they looked good. Imagine my dismay when I downloaded the pack again today to find that the units I loved, are gone!
Here are a couple of screens I took way back when.


Please tell me that I've got this wrong. Are they different units? Are they the right ones? Are they in the pack but I've missed them? What's happening?

I decided not to use it after all. It doesn't look right what with the smoke spawning from an object. It looks weird having a tree or bush, or even an invisible Helipad spawning mist.

That extract is from the sandstorm script. How do I do it for the first mist script?

I see. I got it working from the script anyway.
Can you tell me how to get the mist to drift over a longer distance? It's around 50m at the moment which is pretty weak to be honest. Any way to get it up to about a k?

...how bout some laser deltaslol, I made this mission after I got a request to use the SEAL Divers on my site. That was way back in October. I was making a big assed Vietnam Search and Rescue mission but my computer died and I lost absolutley everything. My next mission will be a Malvinas Mod Falklands mission. Then maybe I'll take a look at the Laser Deltas, that is as long as nothing better comes along.

On the Deep Water front, I think I'm gonna get rid of the big intro. I think its about a minute too long so I'm gonna get rid of the Blackouts. Hey ho, nearly done the latest version.

I've changed the AAA addon now. The ZU23 Addon was causing too much trouble. In the next update of the mission it will be a WWII throwback AA gun.

another thing was when i rescued the hostage the navy seal said "we're us special forces" which in fact is wrong, they are navy seals and are special operations unitsin the US special forces are special forces green berets
navy seals are special operations forces or simple navy seals
pls change it
it just breaks the atmosphere, navy seals i doubt will say we're special forces instead of we're navy seals

Hmm. I don't understand what any of that means guys. A memory problem? Not too sure Acecombat, try putting the querie to someone who knows about that sort of thing. I've never seen anything like it before.
I have had problems with addons that didn't like other addons. Maybe try the mission with just the addons needed only. I played Macguba's Un-impossible mission with some NVA addons installed and I kept getting errors. Maybe its like that.
On the actual Gameplay side of things, I've moved the AA gun and added a few things to the AI. Gimme a little time and the new version will be ready at my site. I'm going to remove a big sound file from the intro so the size should come down for the time being.

EDIT:
I think I understand what the problem is with the AA gun. I think its conflicting with someone-else's addon. I've heard reports that the AA gun emplacement is there but the gun isn't. I'll use a different addon I think.

What's going on?
Looks like my thread has been hijacked with the old Addon vs. Mission question. Jeez, and I thought all the posts were going to be about my mission. How silly of me.

I'm glad that you guys are sticking up for me though. I mean, How do I make a SEAL mission without using Seahawks, divers, SEAL units etc. Maybe these lazy people want to use Navy SEAL black-ops, inserting via Navy Blackhawk and using US Navy SEAL regular Army as their support.

Anyway, I'll address the points about the mission that I did notice,

Make sure its the right one Ruff. I think FDF use the same model so try the mission without FDF on or another mod that might use it, if your using one. I'm not sure otherwise. Its the same for the BTR-60.
@ Extraction
The ZU-23 is on just up the road from the pub. I take it you got extracted without incident then? Do you trhink I should move it to a more threatening position?

There's sample pics in the .zip. Try them all out and see if there's a couple you like. Not all the designs are the same.

I have a pack of 9 faces you can use. They are already packed into a .pbo and you can add them with the setface command. The names are rgr1 to rgr9.

Ok, after much farting around, the script is more or less ready for recording. I've included a link to a page where you can download the script .zip file. Its only about 2kb in size so 56k people shouldn't have a problem, even with Freewebs. I've split the script into different character files so nobody misses stuff out.
Now, here's where I'm going to sound like a basturd. Please be careful when recording the files that you don't get bedroom echo. I can add echo with my sound editor but I can't remove it. Also, try not to do a totally wacky voice because I may e-mail you for some more sound files if I like what you've done or I need some more dialogue in my mission.

If any of you have seen my work, you'll know that I almost exclusivly work on missions. I've been wrestling with the Addon vs Mission problem for a long time.
When I started I used only the BIS stuff, but as I got more involved with various sites I found that the community is full of people who crave realism and accuracy. After all, that's why most of us play the game. There are of course those people who either don't know or don't care about that sort of thing.
I started to try and make my missions as accurate as I could. This meant reading and researching.
I want to use the correct units, vehicles etc for every mission I make. unfortunatly there are a lot of people out there who just want a quick download.
I would get conflicting comments where people would moan about things not being accurate and other comments saying there were too many downloads. I made missions with no external addons at all but found that people still weren't happy.
Now I do what I want. If I want a mission with no addons I make one. If I want a mission that's accurate I use all the addons I need. I don't give a damn about the whingers anymore. There are more important things to consider, like making sure that a mission is tested right.
I do have an idea on what could revive the mission making community though. Perhaps we could set up mission mods like the BAS people for instance. Instead of addon though, we could concentrate on churning out high quality missions for the community. We could pool our respective talents and if enough people get on board we could have a community which could rival the addon makers.
That's my tuppence.

What you probably want to do is remove the offending weapons from the helicopter and leave only the weapon you want the chopper to engage with. You can do this with this command, typed into the units init space,
this removeweapon weapon-name
If you want the chopper to have the weapons still, in case it runs out of missiles, you can add the weapons again with this line in the activation of a trigger,
helo-name addmagazine mag-name; helo-name addweapon weapon-name.
Here's a full list of the weapons and ammo found in Flashpoint 1.91. Thanks to Kuro and Ofpec.com for the list. What you want is in there somewhere. Also, you might want to copy the whole thing into a text file for future reference.
Also, as a side note. You can have fun by putting things like Mavericks into Tank guns by replacing the shells.
