Seems that I was tked by another zombie overnight.
Oh the irony! Â

I'll try making another account.

Regarding the demo, there are things I like about this game, and some things I don't like.
Pros:
*Wounded units either collapse to the ground or limp away to walk. A nice detail.

*Graphics arent as nice as the pictures, but are still very nice. The water is beautiful. Â

*Ragdoll destructions!

*Units attack buildings with torches. At lot more reasonable than shooting at them.
Cons:
*There seem to be a lack of units to fill in the ages. I became a little disturbed when I found out you could have archers in the 1900's. Â
I just hope they don't pull a Empire Earth 2 and have Industrial age generals in full plate armor. It seems like you can't upgrade them. I was stuck with musketeers until the last age.
*Im not a real big fan of the RPG factor of gameplay. I liked the old way better.

Might as well start off fresh:

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (CNN) -- Officials at the Astrodome in Houston, Texas, saying the facility has reached capacity, have stopped accepting refugees from flooded New Orleans.
Exhausted evacuees who had traveled more than 300 miles on buses to be housed at the Astrodome were turned away late Thursday and diverted elsewhere.
The city of San Antonio, about 200 miles from Houston, has agreed to take in refugees.
A police spokesman told CNN that the fire marshal informed Houston authorities late Thursday that the Astrodome had reached capacity and, for safety reasons, must stop accepting further refugees.
In New Orleans, meanwhile, violence disrupted relief efforts as authorities rescued desperate residents still trapped in the flooded city and tried to evacuate thousands of others living among corpses and human waste.
Federal Emergency Management Agency Director Michael Brown said his agency was attempting to work "under conditions of urban warfare."
Police snipers were stationed on the roof of their precinct, trying to protect it from armed miscreants roaming seemingly at will.
Officers warned a CNN crew to stay off the streets because of escalating danger, and cautioned others about attempted shootings and rapes by groups of young men.
"This is a desperate SOS," New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin said in a statement Thursday afternoon, with thousands of people stranded at the city's convention center with no food, water or electricity -- and fading hope. (See video on the desperate conditions -- 4:36 )
Residents expressed growing frustration with the disorder evident on the streets, raising questions about the coordination and timeliness of relief efforts.
"Why is no one in charge?" asked one frustrated evacuee at the convention center. "I find it hard to believe."
Government officials insisted they were putting forth their best efforts and pleaded for patience, saying further help was on the way.
One displaced resident at the Louisiana Superdome issued a warning to authorities who may be headed to the stadium, where up to 30,000 people sought refuge after Monday's Hurricane Katrina and now await evacuation to Texas by bus.
"Please don't send the National Guard," Raymond Cooper told CNN by telephone. "Send someone with a bullhorn outside the place that can talk to these people first."
He described scenes of lawlessness and desperation, with people simply dragging corpses into corners.
"They have quite a few people running around here with guns," he said. "You got these young teenage boys running around up here raping these girls."
Elsewhere, groups of armed men wandered the streets, buildings smoldered and people picked through stores for what they could find.
Charity Hospital, one of several facilities attempting to evacuate patients, was forced to halt the effort after coming under sniper fire. (Full story)
Recovery efforts also continued Thursday in Mississippi, where Katrina smashed entire neighborhoods and killed at least 185 people.
"We got hit by the worst natural disaster in the history of the United States," Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour told CNN Thursday.

Sniper fire halts hospital evacuation
Gunmen fire at medical workers and patients at Charity Hospital
A physician at the hospital said that despite the incidents staff members and patients were eager to get out after three days with no water and electricity and sparse food rations.
"A single sniper or two snipers shouldn't have to shut down a hospital evacuation for two hours now," Dr. Ruth Berggren told CNN. "I look outside, I'm not seeing any military." (See a video report on the sniper's attack -- 1:06 )
Berggren's husband, Dr. Tyler Curiel, witnessed both incidents.
"We were coming in from a parking deck at Tulane Medical Center, and a guy in a white shirt started firing at us," Curiel said. "The National Guard [troops], wearing flak jackets, tried to get a bead on this guy. "
The first incident happened around 11:30 a.m. (12:30 p.m. ET) as Curiel and his National Guard escorts headed back to the hospital after dropping off several patients at nearby Tulane Medical Center to be evacuated by helicopter.
Charity shares a helipad with Tulane Medical Center, which is across the street.
They were traveling in a convoy of amphibious vehicles, and Curiel said the vehicle behind him was targeted.
About an hour later, another gunman opened fire at the back of Charity Hospital.
"We got back to Charity Hospital with with food from Tulane and we said, 'OK the snipers are behind us, let's move on,' " Curiel said. "We started loading patients [for transport] and 20 minutes later, shots rang out."
The National Guard soldiers told staff to get away from the windows, and evacuations were halted.
Berggren, an infectious disease specialist at Charity Hospital, said that since then she had heard nothing about resuming evacuations.
She said about 200 patients still need to be evacuated. All of the patients in intensive care have been evacuated.
Charity Hospital has no electricity and no water, and the only food available is a couple of cans of vegetables and graham crackers.
Evacuations by boat were halted after armed looters threatened medics and overturned one of their boats.
Widespread looting and random gunfire have been reported across New Orleans. Police told CNN that groups of armed men roamed the streets overnight. (Full story)
Officers told CNN they lacked manpower and steady communications to properly do their jobs -- and that they needed help to prevent the widespread looting and violence now prevalent in the city.
Seriously people; WTF? What kind of shit for brains person shoots at a hospital?!

New Orleans is really going to hell. Â

I went to a minor league baseball game yesterday. Around the 3rd inning, what was left of the hurricane started moving in on New York. Im glad I brought my poncho.

Around the 7th inning, they called a rain delay which lasted 45 minutes. During that time I sat in wet seats, watching half naked kids throwing cups filled with rain water at eachother, listening to Scorpion's "Rock you like a Hurricane" about 4 to 5 times and BJ Thomas' "Raindrops keep falling on my head".

They finally decided to cancel the game; which was good since we were up by one.

New York was pretty lucky. The only damage I saw was 3 branches laying on the ground.(around 6 feet/2 meters in length) My pool looks like green jello and my fish pond was |this| close to over flowing.
Of course; I know that I should not be complaining. Places like the small towns near New Orleans were completely devestated. It will be a few good years to get close to normality. Â

I would put:
<span style='color:blue'>India -</span><span style='color:green'>Fair</span><span style='color:blue'>/good
Saudi Arabia - Good/strong
Taiwan - Strong</span>
<span style='color:red'>North Korea - Bad</span>
<span style='color:blue'>Israel - Good/strong</span>
Pakistan is a tricky one though.
Public opinion would be failing, IMO.
However, government-wise, it would be fair/good
China too, is iffy. I would leave it as unknown.

Loosely involves the military, but quite funny:
Quote[/b] ]A Marine stationed in Afghanistan recently received a "Dear John" letter from his girlfriend back home. It read as follows:Dear Ricky,
I can no longer continue our relationship. The distance between us is just too great. I must admit that I have cheated on you twice, since you've been gone, and it's not fair to either of us. I'm sorry. Please return the picture of me that I sent to you.
Love, Becky
The Marine, with hurt feelings, asked his fellow Marines for any snapshots they could spare of their girlfriends, sisters, ex-girlfriends, aunts, cousins etc. In addition to the picture of Becky, Ricky included all the other pictures of the pretty girls he had collected from his buddies.
There were 57 photos in that envelope....along with this note:
Dear Becky,
I'm so sorry, but I can't quite remember who you are. Please take your picture from the pile, and send the rest back to me.
Take Care, Ricky
Sounds like a M*A*S*H* rerun.

I feel bad for chinese MMORPG gamers...
Quote[/b] ]Shanghai. Â August 23. Â INTERFAX-CHINA - The Chinese Government unveiled a new system Tuesday to prevent individuals from playing online games for more than three consecutive hours, which must be installed for every online game in the country."This timing mechanism can prevent young people from becoming addicted to online games," Kou Xiaowei, Deputy Director of the Audiovisual and Internet Publication Department of the General Administration of Press and Publication (GAPP), said during a press conference.
The new system, developed under the guidance of the GAPP, stops individuals from playing online games for more than three hours by cutting the abilities of game characters. The new system cuts the ability level of a player's online game character by half after he or she has played for more than three consecutive hours. Once a player has played for more than five consecutive hours, the system cuts the ability level of that player's character to the lowest level allowed by the game.
The system also lowers the ability of players to find treasures or prizes available in an online game after they have played for more than three consecutive hours.
Furthermore, the system keeps track of hours of play. Individuals who immediately log back onto a game after three hours of consecutive play will continue to have the ability of their game character lowered by the system. Players must be logged off for a minimum of five hours before the system resets.
The GAPP has defined the playing of online games for less than three consecutive hours as "healthy," playing three to five consecutive hours as "tiring," and playing for more than five consecutive hours as "unhealthy." Â
In addition, seven of China's largest online gaming firms pledged Tuesday to "sacrifice short-term revenues" to create a "healthy" environment for young internet users. Companies signing onto the "Beijing Accord" were Shanda, NetEase, The9, Optisp, Kingsoft, SINA, and Sohu. These seven companies also pledged to deploy the system when development is completed.
Development of the system is scheduled for completion at the end of September 2005. Internal testing is scheduled to begin in October of 2005. After internal testing, trial operations of the system will be held using the games "The Legend of Mir II" and "The World of Legend" operated by Shanda, "Westward Journey Online" and "Fantasy Westward Journey Online" operated by NetEase, "World of Warcraft" and "MU" operated by The9, "JX Online" and "First Myth Online" operated by Kingsoft, "The Legend of Mir 3G" operated by Optisp, "Lineage II" operated by SINA, and "Blade Online" operated by Sohu.
Compulsory deployment of the new system is expected to begin for all massive multiplayer online role-playing games and casual games in China in late 2005 or early 2006
Seems to be reasonable to me. Everyone knows World of Warcraft is a threat to the national security of China.

Oh boy.
Robertson: U.S. should 'take out' Venezuela's Chavez
Quote[/b] ](CNN) -- Christian broadcaster Pat Robertson has called for the United States to assassinate Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, calling him "a terrific danger" bent on exporting Communism and Islamic extremism across the Americas."If he thinks we're trying to assassinate him, I think that we really ought to go ahead and do it," Robertson told viewers on his "The 700 Club" show Monday. "It's a whole lot cheaper than starting a war." Watch video of Robertson's comments
Robertson, a contender for the Republican presidential nomination in 1988, called Chavez "a dangerous enemy to our south, controlling a huge pool of oil, that could hurt us badly."
"We have the ability to take him out, and I think the time has come that we exercise that ability," Robertson said. "We don't need another $200 billion war to get rid of one strong-arm dictator. It's a whole lot easier to have some of the covert operatives do the job and then get it over with."
Robertson accused Chavez, a left-wing populist with close ties to Cuban President Fidel Castro, of trying to make Venezuela "a launching pad for Communist infiltration and Muslim extremism all over the continent."
"This is in our sphere of influence, so we can't let this happen," he said.
Chavez has said he believes the United States is trying to assassinate him, vowing that Venezuela, which accounts for more than 10 percent of U.S. oil imports, would shut off the flow of oil if that happens.
The Unites States has denied such allegations in the past.
Executive orders issued by Presidents Ford and Reagan banned political assassinations.
Robertson's comments Monday were the latest in a string of controversial remarks in recent years by the religious broadcaster and founder of the Christian Coalition.
Last October, during the heat of the presidential race, Robertson told CNN that during a meeting with President Bush before the invasion of Iraq, the president told him he did not believe there would be casualties. The White House strongly denied the claim.
In May, during an ABC interview, Robertson ignited a firestorm with his response to a question about whether activist judges were more of a threat to America than terrorists.
"If they look over the course of 100 years, I think the gradual erosion of the consensus that's held our country together is probably more serious than a few bearded terrorists who fly into buildings," he said.
Defending his remarks in a letter to Sen. Frank Lautenberg, Robertson insisted he was not being cavalier about the 9/11 attacks. But he also refused to apologize, saying Supreme Court rulings on abortion, religious expression in the public square, pornography and same-sex marriage "are all of themselves graver dangers in the decades to come than the terrorists which our great nation has defeated in Afghanistan and Iraq."

How could you stay angry at that face.

This mod has alot of promise but there are a few things that I would personally like to see changed.
Seeing as how STALKER is a FPS RPG, I don't think that a campaign style of gameplay would work out. Instead, I would like to see an altered "dynamic campaign in one mission" type of gaming. Instead of having a military base like in most if not all dynamic campaigns, it would be a couple of shacks. Here you could buy guns, fuel and cars. Perhaps even here you could recruit other stalkers to follow you.
Instead of commanders giving you missions like search and destroy and patrol, it would be have scientists or gun dealers asking you to go on artifact finding missions or "rescue the scientist convoy" missions. Idea for other mini missions could be taken from the many fan fiction pieces found at the STALKER mainsite. Another thing is the russian military. Is there a possibility of adding bases and patrols who are hostile to you?
Sorry for my ramblings and thanks for your time.

-
If you are planning on having the resistance side; I would suggest also using Everon Defence Force Soldiers with the hunting gear fatigues. They could be the reminants of the military trying to fight off the russians.
And another thing; seeing as we already have decent 85 era US soldiers, how about adding a couple female soldiers? Â

-
Will this game allow custom models? I know they will have alot of models that come with the game, but I want to make a 15 minute movie about ninjas breakdancing to Super Slam. Â

-
I'll buy both.

-
How is bullet time supposed to work in multiplayer? Â
I recall reading somewhere that it slows down other players.
Wouldn't that result in having FEAR being a speedhacker's haven?
I mean, no one would know who is hacking and who is using bullet time?

-
My prediction is that it will come out just before duke nukem forever.
, yep and renamed to STALKER Forever.Dont you mean Team <s>Fortress</s> STALKER 2?

-
-
I get a CTD when the helicopter shows up.
Not going to bother buying it.
-
so noone watched it? Great! Â
Thanks! I would have appreciated some feedback!
I watched it. I thought it was pretty good, though I liked this weeks episode more. For example:
Quote[/b] ]<span style='color:white'>How they showed the one legged soldier dealing with the after effects of the war. You don't see that too often in movies/shows.</span> -
As far as missions go, I would like at least one checkpoint guarding mission. It would be something similar to the checkpoint mission in the 1969 Vietnam campaign by Spanky G.

-
The list has Half Life 2 but no Half Life! What the hell?! Half Life was much more revolutionary than Half Life 2.
I would also rant about Marathon not making the list, but since Marathon is a Mac game, it would make sense not including it. A good percentage of the top 10 games are too new to be considered the best PC games ever. BF2 hardly(if at all) adds anything new to the market, and CSS is just CS(which didn't make the list) with less game types and maps with ok graphics. This is a ranking of overall games, not just PC ones.
OFP and Marathon arent even listed. Marathon added friendly AI and the ability to look up and down and they didn't even bother listing it. And don't get me started on HALO outranking Fallout and Mafia.

-

I believe the planned new model for the space shuttle has alot of potential. It looks like it can hold alot of cargo.
I hope it doesn't get scrapped in the coming years. Â
