I recently played this and I also agree it is immensely enjoyable and does a great job of "suspension of disbelief". The only bad point is being herded as mentioned before. OFP is still the only milsim to offer free form wandering around the terrain. But despite this, the game has a lot (especially in commanding squads) that could benefit OFP2 in terms of interface. It's important gents that when you play these games you don't criticise them for not being "like OFP". Look for what they do well and think, "that would great in OFP2" and what they do poorly and think how lucky you were to have that idea formed by your OFP experience. I think this game truly is a work of art. The amount of research that went into BIA is truly astounding. It really is like playing in an episode of Band of Brothers. I think it has done some things very, very well. And if you compare it out of the box to what OFP was out of the box, it certainly is a lot more polished. They are also soon releasing a full SDK with the full intention of letting the community mod the hell out of it and create new maps and units. Already there are mods that will modenise BIA into current weapons and units. Gearbox states publicly they have a long history of releasing their games with SDK's for the community to build upon the product. Hopefully BIS learns from this and from their lengthy delay in giving us O2. For games of this level of sophistication and dare I say it, fanaticism from fans, SDKs are a VERY smart marketing strategy. I might add the SDK comes 1 month after the release of BIA. Impressive!

Hi there. I remember when the OFP2 forum was first created there were threads from Placebo and the crew asking for "what do you want to see in OFP2". Lots of great ideas and suggestions flowed through multiple threads spread throughout this forum and in many varied topics. I wonder if it would be worth while creating a centralised and easy accessible Wiki which would house everyone's suggestions. This way BIS could use it as checklist for functionality they have already implemented in the OFP2 code so far or capture ideas that they didn't notice and can see being implemented in the dev process. Do one of these well organised ideas documents exist in the community? Is there any value in creating one? Does everyone know what a Wiki is? Am I slowly slipping into insanity? Don't answer that last one....

OFP2 Design Document Wiki
Tigershark_BAS replied to Tigershark_BAS's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - SUGGESTIONS
Perhaps..it was just an idea to put this all in one place rather than having to wade through hundreds of pages of forum posts (not all of them constructive) to get ideas. -
If we were to put our LB's through an upgrade process...which has been sitting on the back burner for sometime........what would people like to see? And please keep in mind time constraints....nothing too intensive like "I'd like all civilian models of the MD500" We are looking for focused and constructive input to a LB upgrade program. Let the games begin Â

Whaddya know.....the gun was loaded and not shooting blanks after all Congrats OE.....although it does bring to mind that saying about the gene pool having no lifeguard Hope things go well for the next 6-9 months. At least you've had plenty of practice not sleeping in the bush to prepare you for sleepless nights at home.

I can see how making millions of dollars and getting to stare at Monica Belluci's "hardware" would make me break down *rolls eyes*
-
HAHAHAHAHA...nice one Col. My old man used to a great impression of her...aaah the memories.
-
Aaah....yes...just like those greedy bastards at BAS. If I ever see one of them in a dark alley....
-
Already been done Col. in that awful sequel to the Whole Nine Yards (was it the whole ten yards). He suing them next for inhaling cooking fumes during kitchen scenes and for working with Matthew Perry which would be traumatic all in itself
-
I didn't know that the rich should be so forgiving when someone has injured them. What if the injury is real and traumatic and interfering on a permanent basis? Not enough details yet to say one way or another. I wouldn't dismiss Willis' justifications and actions so fast. Maybe he sometimes looks upon life as something real and personal, too. This incident might not be trivial. I certainly don't assume so based on the (lack of detailed) information so far. But it's fun to insta-bash famous rich people, I suppose. I want you at my bedside when they are discussing whether or not to switch off my life support machine Avon

Well...if you are Bruce Willis....you take along some moisturizer, after shave, tissues, pillow, aromatherapy kit, gold Rolex and portable DVD player for viewing your latest reviews on yourself.....oh and lawyer paperwork for suing if something accidentally hits you in the head.
-
I second that....how are they greedy?

Or dressed in womens clothing crying because he bumped his knee in Guber's office.
-
Yeah Ok...but come on.....why...so he got struck in the head by a small projectile.....does he need the money? Has it prevented him from making an income on other movies. Are current medical expenses making him bankrupt. Big girls blouse is something that springs to mind. Obviously not concerned about perpetuating a tough guy image with his fans.

*reflects nostalgically* Aaaah...the Off Topic forum. Our own little virtual Gaza strip
-
Interesting idea...but what what this community really needs is........another M4. Please can someone make on of these?
-
Oh yeah...that too...thanks for reminding me Batdog Although I am marginally better at Americas Army....emphasis on marginally!

Lousy is an understatement. Â Edit: So the game is worth purchasing? It's a curious thing. I consider myself quite an established OFP player...able to shoot well and use cover. Get me in CS and I feel like I'm watching my little sister play on my PC. I suck SOOOO bad! It's a totally different style of gameplay and very humbling experience to be whooped by some 12 year old in Lithuania :-( What makes it worse is all the smack talking that goes on afterwards. That I could do without which is why it would be good to get a bunch of OFP guys together. Oh..and don't get me wrong...OFP is still my first love but it interesting studying the Source engine for CS. The physics and textures are quite impressive. Just the gameplay of CS that frustrates me....they tell me it will come with practice but I think the gameplay will frustrate before I get good enough to enjoy it. As my good buddy Rom says...perhaps it's not the game....any game can be fun depending on who you play it with...and prepubescent teenagers is not my preferred demographic I must confess. So that leaves you out Hellfish! Just kidding

If possible...when you mention your server you play on...please mention your name as well. Mine predictably is tigershark_BAS

Would love to play some CS:Source with some cultured and refined OFP players. does anyone play this and where? Sound off ladies and gents.

Word der Blaster! Deus Ex was one of the most immersive and clever games I played. Really enjoyed it. However, if you are talking immersive real world FPS shooters still have to vote for ol' OFP there....especially MP experiences.

You know that 20% hostages dead is a standard. This may or may not be fact......but still a little tasteless Gordy
-
All I can say is I hope Ironsight is never in charge of a hostage situation I might be in :-)

No, they learned not to use that particular kind of gas in a hostage situation. Actually m21man..this may not be entirely true. On BBC World last night they interviewed a russian mil analyst from the Carnegie center in Moscow. I recall him saying something like the commandos performed brilliantly...problem was the logistics let them down. The logistics people failed to plan enough and a lot of people died because they didn't have enough antitode on hand for the gas and they couldn't move them quick enough to medical facilities for treatment from the effects of the gas. Surprised the hell out of me because I thought they botched the rescue attempt. The analyst said they performed very well however. He also said he still didn't believe logistics had been improved....so you are probably right...they won't use that gas again if for no other reason than it would be a political nightmare for Putin if something went from it again. I would seriously hate to be Putin at the moment...what a decision...to have the blood of young children on your hands if you don't give into terrorists. Of course I would hate even more to be a hostage or a parent in this situation even more. Watching this on TV last night I thought of Rainbow 6 the Tom Clancy novel. This would be exactly one of those situations for a multi national anti terrorist squad. Amazing how some of Clancy's books slowly begin to mimic reality. Global terrorism becoming everyone's problem...including once enemy USA and Russia. I don't think this will lead to the creation of a Rainbow 6 but I found it interesting how this event made me recall it given the incredible security threat Russians face now. Must be very unnerving for many Russians....I hope Putin can inspire more confidence that he is taking steps to protect his people.

Updated UH-60 Blackhawks for OFP

You might also want to remove the aux fuel tanks in the rear...and add seats as someone mentioned. Nice work
