Technically...I believe this is possible....as you would be paying for a service (ie. the programmers time) and not the end product. This is quite a loophole....but then again...I'm no lawyer....perhaps someone can point out the flaw in this argument. Equally...I always thought the legal loophole for providing a CD of addons etc. was for fans to make a donation to your team/mod/site. As a reward for the donation you would send them a FREE!! CD with addons and missions you had created. Again...waiting for some lawyer type guy to shoot me down on that one as well.

The majority of the island is done....we just need to MP test it and we are putting the finishing touches on the "extras" that will ship with the map. WARNING: Expect a BIIIIIIIG download. Like I said...this is almost like a mini Resistance expansion pack....and we can't send it out to you on CD unfortunately. Expect a download of between 50mb and 80mb for the island with all the trimmings and extras. -

Making a mission on this island as part of a mini campaign....but thought I'd play around with some other areas. LOST ISLAND WAR STORY =================== So I took 2 Rangers with me and placed ourselves in the middle of the city with a group of High Dispersion soldiers. I'm in this alleyway...lined on each side but shops and apartments. There is a low wall which offers cover if you crouch and when you stand you can fire over it. I'm getting close to the intersection where I know the troops are. I send #2 to run across the road that makes the intersection to the alley across the other side whilst I back him up. He runs past me...I popup from the wall and send covering fire the enemy's way....then...a hell breaks lose. they all fall to the ground but at the same time start firing in all directions. Thanks to JAM, as I duck behind the low wall I hear the sounds of bullet ricochets and bullets impacting soft earth around me. The low wall is blowing puffs of desert dust everywhere. I look to #2 just as someone launches an RPG at him that impacts the building behind just as he scoots to the alleyway. I throw a grenade...unfortunately I forget that OFP makes me stand to do this....as the grenade flies, green tracers whizz by me head...one finally finds my arm as I try and crounch behind the wall. The HD Machine gunner is going apeshit on his PK.....the grenade explodes and this silences him but only takes another 2 of the 12 guys out. Meanwhile....about 3 guys run after #2 down the alley. I get them as they run past...but one guy comes out of an adjacent alley behind #2 and pops hims before I can get a shot off. #3 watching my back calls out Tango and drops a would be flanker. I pop up again over the wall and let off multiple shots....getting another 2. By now the volume of fire a decreased....enough for me to begin moving out from the wall. I pop up again...let a few shots off and notice some guys have moved round the corner possibly to flank. I run for the intersection past stores with posters advertising African tourist attractions.....looking at a billboard I almost lose sight of the fact someone has run around the corner....I squeeze off a shot and run around the corner to finish of the remaining troops. In a word...>>AWESOME!! A 30sec put together exchange in the mission editor provided one of the best experiences ever in OFP. This map...this city rocks....and will provide a whole new experience for you. There is so much packed into the map and accompanying releases that it will feel like you've been given a Resistance style expansion pack. This island will amaze you...I guarantee it. We only ask one thing in return....MAKE MISSIONS...LOTS OF MISSIONS WITH IT!!! The opportunities for gameplay and mission design/settings are astounding. In fact...with units shipping with it....the opportunity for missions that are joint US equipment and foreign equipment should also be reality. Shouldn't be too far from release now....again..dangerously close to release -
Err...and what exactly are those (DR, MY, LI, IS)? MY=Moody AFB LI=ANGB AP Colonel Francis S. Gabreski WA=Nellis AFB IS=NAS Keflavik, Iceland (been serving in Liberia) DR= Davis-Monthan AFB (serving in Iraq) FL=Patrick AFB (also in Iraq) These will be included in the pack.

LMAO. I always loved the "change the system from the inside argument" Anyway...moving right along (don't want a 2 weeks PR.....the horror...) The answer to the light problem is simple....don't use it. It never existed until we put one in and it's our best attempt at it...so if you dont like it.....turn it off or disable it. Not much point when he is wearing NVGs.....as it is a search light it's more appropriate on the pilots side so he can look for troops when trying evac.

It's not the suggestion that offends me....but the lack of effort in merely reading what has already been discussed. We pour hours into our addons and to answering your questions only to have posts from people who can:t spend 10 mins reading a thread. Add to that the fact that this thread also became the personal playground for certain people to throw shit at each other and...well....let's just say....I'm less than impressed. Nothing personal Bluesman...I've had a rough day and you seem to have sparked me off. -

Billboards! Â What do the billboards say? Is it propogandic or is it commercial? Â Â Both. I used many billboards and propaganda posters from African city images. On some buildings you'll posters, on some billboards, on some murals. All from real images. Here's your "I'm an idiot" sign....wear it with pride. -

Oh...and as a side note...Nag is working on missions for this island and I'm working on my own mini campaign....nothing fancy as my scripting days have been lost amongst addon making knowledge...but should be decent enough gameplay and pretty cool storyline. -

We are ironing out those issues now....we have noticed some warping but we aren't sure if this is from the models missing certain geo lods or whether its an issue with low poly models. Regardless...rest assured we are working on it. -

Gentlemen and ladies, The reason the island has many of our own object is precisely to cut down on lag....standard BIS building can have up 100+ faces....we have created new objects which have highly reduced poly counts. What does this mean? More objects in larger spaces for the same performance hit. I tell ya...flying over this huge city in a Littlebird gave little performance hit at all.......I am still amazed at the technical achievement we were able to implement here. The city is, simply put, HUGE and opens up a whole new suite of gameplay and mission scenarios. -
