why didnt you just say Green Beret's then? lol as Rangers and Delta are Army SF... anyways, i know there were some old Green Beret's somewhere, back before O2, a retexture job - you'll be able to find it on OFPEC. Anyways, who knows, BAS might make some Green Beret's after their SEAL project  Actually Messiah...hate to correct you on this one....but Rangers are Army Special Operations troops....not Special Forces...their are only one Special Forces...and they wear green berets (Delta is a little different) but don't call them green berets...they hate it.

For the record...I don't really want to continue this debate...but something needs to be put right. The sentence being to referred to about "no need to ask permission" was mentioned explicitly for the release of the AH-1W source models and textures. It was not a blanket wide statement for all our addons and was never framed that way. Think about it. In that case we were actually giving something to the community..unfinished...and saying...look..we don't have the time to finish this...but there are very capable people out there who can if they want...take these...and don't worry about asking for permission..we are providing it to you to modify and release as you will. Also for the record....this is not about credit....my whole point was from the outset....courtesy....it would have been courteous for him to ask before using. In reality...we probably would not have had a problem since we have new Rangers coming out. We perhaps would have negotiated for a release after BAS week....but.....what's done is done. The whole point is that I was highlighting how we all could be a little more courteous to each other. @Laser.....you are right...I should of approached you outside of the public eye before posting like I did. I apologise.

It may well be PUBLIC.....but what they have done is lame....very lame and demonstrates a lack of even basic respect for the efforts of others. If we want to self regulate ourselves in this community and conduct ourselves with honour and respect then we should damn well start exhibiting some of these traits when dealing with each other. Allowable or not, these people have failed to show the most basic of courtesies....ask before you take. Can I stop them from using our textures....no. Am I gonna make a big deal about it....no. All I'm saying is that these guys conducted themselves without honor. They are simply rebadging addons as their own. BAS or someone's elses addon.....I would presonally forfeit downloading of these units on principle.

I think DV was trying to illustrate the point that guy is basically stealing textures.....and he can't escape this fact by merely offering credits in readme. He should have asked permission first.

He could have shown some professional courtesy and asked  I really don't think that's too much to ask. Simple fact is he is now passing off Rangers as his own when really....it's all our texture work. Very poor effort in my opinion.

Read another article on this and yes Shadow, both Boeing and Sikorsky will be asking the military what they want done with manufacturing processes and classified research they have funded for the past 10+ years. Hopefully we get to see some reuse in other platforms...like the Apache. Want hear the funny part....they still are asking for proposals for a new "less expesive" type of recon helo. *slaps head*

Nailed it Tex...good post. Don't get me wrong....I'm a BIG fan of the Commanche...but putting personal feelings about the Commanche and the technology poured into it, Tex has nailed the practicality of the decision.

We are working on it....for the Pavie...hopefully For the De/Ra....maybe 1 or 2 For the UAZs....unknown For the LB....hopefully...but only one to show of the new capability we have added.

He worked his ass off on Tonal....and basically took the summer off.
