Script fine in preview BROKEN TO SHIT IN MULTIPLAYER
terox replied to SpitShine's topic in ARMA 3 - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Spitshine, your attitude is attrocious, your language is foul and defintely unwarranted With that approach you aren't going to get any help from anybody Read this tutorial thread on debugging and sort your own problem out http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?176096-Zeu-Debugging-Tutorial-amp-Foundation-Template -
put in a condition waituntil {IsPlayer _x}; Also the following thread may help you understand the Timing process and also an aid in future debugging http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?176096-Zeu-Debugging-Tutorial-amp-Foundation-Template

What hardware specs should I look at?
terox replied to kocrachon's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
Its always the same requirements NPK, fastest quad core intel you can afford, xeon equivalent in preference to an I7, enterprise standard hardware, lets say 4gb ram / server and 2 for other things and enough hard drive space for the server install and mods. This question has been raised and answered many times now. Google for the xeon/I7 chips that will give you an idea how good the chip is that the hosters provide. We run with 2 * older Xeon X5570's, This does us okay, allowing us to run 3 * A3 servers at any 1 time for up to 50 coop players each so anything better than that will be good -
These kids seem to think they have accomplished something when they hack clan/community servers as if the folks who run them are all IT qualified and experts in security. If you hack these servers, your skill level would probably be -10, try something harder like a proper hosting company server and prove your skills there instead of spoiling the fun that hard working folks have when they get home and the last thing they want is a pubescent spotty kid who cant get it off, so has to revert to this for their ego. I have no patience for these type of people and although I dont believe in any higher authority, I do believe in fate and am sure that something really bad will happen to them eventually. A just deserve.

Tutorial: Installation & Configuration of ArmA3 Dedicated Server
terox replied to terox's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
I have never seen the following line before... Error 5 reading file 'C:\Program' I can only assume that the issue lies in the -profile path Every other entry is normal and looks good try wrapping quotations around it in the command line eg "-profiles=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma3Server" if it works correctly, you dont need to define the full config path, just defining -config=server.cfg should read the server.cfg in the root install folder Another tip to see if it is being read correctly is, the following folder and files should have been created when you started the server up C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma3Server\Users\Administrator and in that folder should be the following files .............................Arma3.cfg .............................Administrator.vars.Arma3Profile .............................Administrator.Arma3Profile -
how to MISSIONS CYCLE every 24 or 48h hours ?
terox replied to nightshift's topic in ARMA 3 - MULTIPLAYER
you would have to run a batch file that shuts down the server and restarts it with a different config file with only 1 mission listed in the mission cycle parameters. The only issue is, you wont be able to start the mission, just loadm it -
Server goes to blank screen after update
terox replied to Yett's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
"-profiles=C:\Users\Yetteh\Desktop\Arma3Server\arma3-5\Users\A3DS" if the entry in red looks correct then everything looks okay. You might want to try running the updater again. Steam has a habit of corrupting the dl If you want to start from scratch, delete the folder that has lots of letters and numbers eg 5d173415bc27ec53aaa2c78445046a1dcb3c69e3 -

Tutorial: Installation & Configuration of ArmA3 Dedicated Server
terox replied to terox's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
Can you please clear your rpt files, rerun the server from the desktop shortcut and then pastebin the created rpt file and link it (The full file, nothing missing) Try wrapping quotation marks around the -profile switch in the command line (It may be possible that the spaces(C:\Program Files (x86)) cant be interpreted correctly eg " -profiles=C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Arma3Server" if the -profile is being read correctly, then for the config all you should need to define is -config=server.cfg (it would then expect that file in the root of the A3 installation) Also if the profile switch is working as expected, it should create the following folder structure automatically in the root A3 install root A3 folder\Users\Administrator .................. Arma3.cfg .................. ADMINISTRATOR.Arma3Profile .................. ADMINISTRATOR.vars.Arma3Profile -

terox replied to terox's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
Your server is already reporting to steam. It does that automatically. You do not need to specify a reporting IP for it and there isn.t an address available for it anyway The steam server browser is very very slow. To verify if your server is reporting to steam you can check in your Steam Client server browser -

If you had followed it then you would have pastebinned some files and linked to them so that we could help you. I need at least the rpt of the desktop shortcut version. The guide states to prove this before moving on, so TADST should never have come into it yet At this stage you should have 1 install of arma3, whether that be the server package or the full install A desktop shortcut for the arma3server.exe No addons, custom missions or any 3rd party content in use -

Its all about the cpu Perfect setup: Fastest & latest Quad core cpu (anything higher than 3.0ghz) Based on what looks like is coming around the corner, 8GB ram This will allow you to run 1 * Arma Server instance and 1 * headless client instance which will allow you to run the highest number of AI possible without using a caching system , eg addons like @Alive etc Next best setup Same CPU 4GB ram This will allow you to run just the dedi server exe and then background apps such as the o/s etc (There are tweaks currently W.I.P that will allow more ram useage, Am guessing but would say for that, having 8Gb ram would cover such future changes) Specifically for COOPS & ai Typical performance for a dedi server with 30-50 clients on a 100mb connection with a decent rig at the moment allows something like 100-200 AI before the fps drops below 20 (Much more if using a caching system) The threshold where the fps starts to be dramaticaly affected seems to be somewhere around 25-35 players With you only hosting for 10, that wouldn't seem to be an issue but i dont know how many AI you could run for those few players, maybe double that Performance for multiplayer especially Dedi servers is currently W.I.P so it can only get better Best advice, Buy the fastest CPU you can afford. RAM is cheap, providing the motherboard has enough slots, you can always add more at a later date -
large [SP/MP][COOP] Patrol Operations - Official Thread
terox replied to roy86's topic in ARMA 3 - USER MISSIONS
I believe taking patrol ops down the addon path would be a mistake, unless there is still a scripted branch. Reason being, it's design for public play. The individual missions within it are not and probably cannot match those of indvidually placed ai in a custom mission made for a community, but they are still good enough for replayability. If you make this an addon, it will not longer be played in the public realm where it is most popular and most often played. Public realm requires vanilla. In the private realm where clans and closed communities have their own custom missions it is not played as often. That in no way detracts from the quality and the design of this mission. Sorry re-read an earlier post by Roy which explains it will still be available in a scripted form -
Issues with Difficulty settings not working
terox replied to npk's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
either remove the -profile switch or point it to the correct directory. Best useage is to point it to the directory of the arma3server.exe that you are using. Check this thread out http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?147537-Tutorial-How-to-run-ArmA3-on-a-dedicated-server your path to the directory for the arma3profile will then be DRIVE:\Folder\arma3server.exe DRIVE:\Folder\USERS\USERNAME\ where username will either be Administrator or System, dependant on how you start the server.exe -

Arma Server Monitor (very small, but useful)
terox replied to fred41's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
Hi Fred, thanks for the continual effort on this. Recently Dwarden unveiled the approach he optimised his servers with, which is described Here What I am trying to figure out is (While using your tool to monitor changes in performance) what changes should I be looking at on each stage of his optimisation method The method is First set bandwidth For a 1 Gbps connection: Maxbandwidth: 1073741824 Minbandwidth: 107374182 For a 100 Mbps connection: Maxbandwidth: 104857600 Minbandwidth: 10485760 Set Maxmsgsend at 2048, lower by 256 until it's ok Set MaxSizeGuaranteed=958; or lower by 64 until it's ok Set MaxSizeNonguaranteed=224; increase by 16 until it's ok for METS/METSN use either default or 2x MinErrorToSend=0.002; MinErrorToSendNear=0.02;(tho quite admins use even higher values 3-12x default Would it be possible to explain what we should be looking to achieve, at each stage of the optimisation process Dwarden states "until it's OK" which leaves a lot of unanswered questions e.g Stage 2: Adjust the value up or down until XYZ on the Monitor values are at their optimum etc etc I am currently at Stage 2 adjusting the Maxmsgsend but really don't know what to look out for at this stage I am getting a CPS at 50% of the FPS I would really appreciate any help here as I want to understand this better to so I can post an optimisation tutorial that makes sense and can be followed. It is the one area in running a server that has always been shrouded with mystery -

How to end a mission properly on dedicated?
terox replied to fett_li's topic in ARMA 3 - SERVERS & ADMINISTRATION
This is not really the place for mission editing question You will get better feedback in this forum You can either: 1) You used to be able to create a localised radio trigger using createvehiclelocal ["EmptyDetector",getPos player]; This would then only create that trigger on the machine the code was called upon (I dont know if this still works) 2) Add an action to the Mission commander using player addaction ["End Mission", "endmission.sqf"]; -
As I stated earlier, every host has their oddball way to achieve things. So what is pertinent and what is not, is down to how much access they give you to configure your server and what user interfaces they present you with. The tutorial basically allows someone with complete backend access on their own box to set up and configure a server from scratch..... so Depending on how much is already set up by them, depends how much of the tutorial is helpful to you. If you still have issues, then check the TROUBLE SHOOTING section. It details the files that we will need from you to help you solve your issue. If ya don't need any further help, good luck with your commity server m8

Your first port of call should have been with the hosting company. These companies often do all sorts of oddball things with their setups and configs and after all your are paying them for this. If you wanted to try and sort this out yourself then you need to do the following First thing you should do is disable all -mods do this by adding the following -mod param, exactly as you see it -mod= yes thats right -mod= This ensures that the data in your ArmA3 installation root is loaded. If this isn't done then you can have issues in the following scenario 1) There is a full client install on that box. (This would defintely be the case if the hosting machine runs a headless client elsewhere) 2) Your instance is a dedicated server package install You need to start by "PROVING" that a vanilla install works, if that doesn't you need to fix that before adding 3rd party content. To do this you need to create a desktop shortcut for the server.exe on the backend, (If you can) and launch with basic parameters *****\ArmA3server.exe -mod= -port=**** Make sure your ******.cfg has a hostname in it and all the steam ports are defined. This Dedicated Server Tutorial thread has all the information you need Once you have proven you and all your friends can connect to that server, then upload the latest @CBA to your server. Currently this is CBA_A3_beta5 Make sure all your friends have exactly the same version Place the key that comes with this version into the server's "KEYS" folder (Removing all previous CBA keys) redefine your verifysignatures line to verifysignatures=2; redefine your mod line to -mod=@CBA_A3 Then start the server up, check the rpt file for errors and load a vanilla B.I mission, or something that doesnt use @CBA Once you have succesfully got your players to connect then try loading a mission that requires @CBA Having proven that, then add one more @mod at a time until you have everything you require installed & proven
