Maybe you should take a look at the campfire and what else is ingame already to see how it's done. AFAIK this stuff emits light. Just my 2 cents. -

The same goes for weapons added via "AddRocketLaunchers" and "AddGuns" of the medium helicopter. Besides that it seems like the M134 mini-guns always have the muzzle-flash animation "on" when you start with a med and added weapons in the air (flying). -

You should at first take a look at this great O2 tutorial from Gnat (watch through all of the parts) and see what you've to deal with if you want to bring models into this game. It's not an easy task. Be warned! ;) -

Got the game with the Hind expansion and already finished the story driven part of the career mode. Now I've some questions that came up while playing. 1. How do I access the hydraulics of a helicopter? Where to look at to check its status (if it needs repairs)? 2. How do I use the FLIR, camera and light? The FLIR gets activated automatically in some missions but why can't I use and control it and the camera all the time and have it displayed via PIP and inboard LCD. Why do the search-/landinglights have no function (for me only)? 3. Is there a way to turn the front wheel of helicopters (like the Hinds or the "heavy" ones) while taxiing on the ground? 4. Is there a way to improve the surface textures? So far... -

I don't have the feeling that it changes anything when I switch between "default" or "high" as I have it set manually but that's maybe due to my lower-end system. Just have 4GB RAM and an old ATi 4890 OC. -

I can't even start it up. The actionmenu entry is there but it doesn't works (does nothing if selected). If placed in the air in the editor already it doesn't has a HUD. -

With Huey you mean the "medium" helicopter in TKOH or the UH-1H from ArmA2? I'm asking because I wouldn't call the first a Huey. Actually it doesn't even represents an existing helicopter. It looks a bit like a Bell 429 but that's it. But yes, it could be used to sling-load a bladder. -

Basically every helicopter can carry a water bladder. That's not the point. The Erickson Air-Crane is something special because of all the available acessories for it. Besides that it has a very interesting feature. An additional cockpit (control stand) that is facing backwards for better overview of the load. -

The CH-54 or better the Erickson Air-Crane would be a perfect fit for wood logging, fire fighting and heavy lift scenarios. -

There are no helicopters out there that can carry 60+ tons. ;) Yes, you're right the community seems to be quite small and rather active. Besides that the feedback from the devs also isn't what it could be or better said what I'd actually expect from BIS staff. -
Would be nice if you could add illumination for the cockpit instruments (nighttime flying).

Like the descriptions says. I'd like you to find a way to make them controllable by the pilot (player) of a helicopter. Besides that it would be nice if the landinglight(s) would actually work (emit some light) not only if it's totally pitch black. -

Thanks for the reply. I've now found everything to inspect for repairs. Nobody seems to know what's up with FLIR, cam and searchlight. Yep, seems like frontwheels aren't steerable...a shame now that ground taxiing is actually possible. I've followed your instructions with the "default" setting which in my case means "normal" quality. Unfortunately it doesn't seems to make a huge diffrence. -
1.06 inspections don't work correctly

Since I've installed 1.06 the pre-flight/repair inspections don't work correctly anymore. The eye-symbol appears but the circle around it doesn't animates and there's no result of the inspection. I've noticed that an option to check the respective part now appears in the actionmenu but if you select it still nothing happens. Am I the only one with this bug? Besides that Operation Gauntlet from the ArmA2 PMC DLC is accessible from the menu even if you're just running the Lite version of it. If you start it you'll get an error message about missing content and get thrown back. Don't know if that's intended? -

Before the patch the circle around the "eye" icon was animated and if a part was undamaged a check mark would replace the eye and if it was damaged a cross would appear. Now it's just the eye without animation and an actionmenu option. I've installed the NC DLC after the patch but don't think this is the problem. I'm running the latest OA version without any DLC with Rearmed. But I've hopefully found all the parts to inspect now. Was missing all the stuff you've to check from the cockpit (batteries, lights, hydraulics). "Introduction" mission in the carreer is still bugged. Any advice? -

It seems like the inspections actually work but because the way how they work was changed it wasn't obvious for me. The problem acutally is that before the patch you would look at a part and get an animation that you're inspecting it and then a result (part ok or dammaged). Now you look at the part get no animation and just have to select the according entry from the actionmenu which if the part is not dammaged returns absolutely no info. I suggest you eather switch back to the old version or simply give the player some feedback even if the part he is inspecting is ok. Besides that I'd really like to know all the positions to check on each helicopter. I had it more then ones especially with the "heavy" helicopter that I thought I actually had checked everything but still had about three or more parts unchecked and didn't knew where to find them. I thought this maybe gets explained in the so called "introduction" mission of the carreer but when I try to start it it just loads up and then gives me a black screen and nothing else happens (game doesn't freezes, HD-LED starts to flash in a constant cycle). It would be nice to get some feedback about the inspection system (why was it changed, do you plan to improve it and so on). Besides that it has to be made crystal clear for everybody how these inspections work and where to look at. The manual is not helping much in that case and as I'm not able to play the mission that deals with it I can't say if it does. -
You're right that it's quite difficult to put this gun(s) to use properly because of all the shaking and banking but that's in fact quite realistic I'd say. Maybe a little more tailrotor-authority even in fast forward flight would help for a more precise aiming but in general the shot placement looks quite good if you aim correctly (view centered + zoomed in on the sight). In reality the recoil of the gun actually throws the helicopter off target so they can only fire short salvos and have to aim again before they can fire again. Be happy they don't included this feature. That would make it even harder to use. Btw, as far as I know the "P" version with the GSh-30-2K was introduced during the Soviet Afghanistan War because the 12,7mm YakB wasn't effective enough against fortified enemy positions like MG and AAA nests. What actually bothers me more is how uneffective the Shturm anti-tank missiles are. Three or more for a single T-72 is way too much.

It seems like the PBOs from the Hind DLC can't be extracted with any of the existing tools at the moment. -
