    Finished resistance?

Anybody here actually finish the Resistance Campaign? I have had it installed for months but only played the first 2 or 3 Campaign missions before my attention was diverted to the Great Wide World of Addons and MODs. Like many of you, I am obsessed with Addons and MODs that there is no time to play the Campaign.

BREAKING NEWS!!! The AP (Associated Press) is reporting that the Moroccan "Monkey Battalion" has just been deployed to the region and are within 50 miles of Baghdad. A correspondent accompanying the battalion has reported heavy fighting and that the feared Republican Guard has moved south to meet this opposition. Stay tuned for more details......... </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">A number of people in various european countries just dont like Americans (or who they think americans are) or what they would regard as their wasteful uneuropean way of life, their loud voices or obnoxious minds. Americans for their part know little of europe and it appears want to know even less. <span id='postcolor'> Well, most of us Americans are of European descent. I have Celtic heritage as well as Irish and English. In fact, I am eligible to join the Order of the Crown of Charlemagne. We are not arrogant but decisive. People resent us for our decisiveness. Bush made a threat and then backed it up. Good for him. The UN three-ring circus diplomatic farce was going nowhere so we decided to act as allowed under SEC RES 1441 where there is a provision for "serious consequences" against Iraq for failing to comply. Certainly the phrase "serious consequences" is an umbrella under which war can fit. So one can argue our actions are legal at least from the UN standpoint.

of course the truth hurts, and the natural course of action is to censor it. Listen up folks, there is a pattern here. Note the countries that do not support our just war with Iraq, and may I direct your attention to the reasons why: Russia (selling GPS and satellite jamming technology to Iraq, Putin says he will look into the matter) France ("the Worm" Chirac's  lucrative oil and other business deals with Iraq...etc) Germany (lucrative pharmaceutical and chemical business deals) And let's not forget N Korea. Don't know about any confirmed deals other than the missile exports to the middle east. Actually, I have not heard a peep out of that pimp-squeak Kim Jong II since we started the war. He piped down real quick when the bombs started falling. He needs to pay close attention and learn a lesson.

The UN can go to hell! Our strategy is to not die for our country but to make the other son-of-abitch die for his. The Palestinians should not be given a state. They are a bunch of whiney people--equivalent to the NAACP (National Association for the Always Complaining People) over here. In history, those who achieve independence, fight for it and win. In this case, the Palestinians' strategy is to moan and groan to the international community so that they will make Israel give the Palestinians a state. What? When in history has a country been made to give up its land without war? It is the Palestinians who are the ones "occupying." They are on Israeli land which was won fair and square in the 1967 war. Want me to tell you how to secure peace in the Middle East? Answer: For the US to let Israel go unrestrained and destroy the Palestinian militants. This whole thing is ridiculous. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">I think I just did, I took a huge chunk out of your ignorant statement. The UN is worthless and ineffective. It is nothing more than a bureaucratic, red-taped, discussion "round table" and a pseudo-political "symposium." They get "together" and pretend to solve the world's "problems." In reality, they do nothing. Why do some countries have clout (veto power) and others do not? Makes no sense folks. They behave like it is a city council meeting.

I am back rippin' roarin' and ready to rock n' roll. Grab yourself a beverage, a chair and sit down cause I'm a lettin' the shite hit the fan. This is, to use John Milton Hay's own words, a "splendid little war." Bush is like da Theodore Roosevelt tryin' to liberate Cuba from da evil Spainish. Did za I spell that wrong? yep that's a good reason cause' old Cuba was never annexed into the US. Say isn't there a Soviet general a named Cuba in OPF? Can't seem to find the old bloke in my mission editor but Iza knows hees ther. and looky at what happend in Cuba? They got their independence. Say, do they hav piranhas (dem fish with da big teeth dat can eat whole horse) down there? Well, let me tell ya, sometime after dat, we have this grizzly adams feller named Castro to cum and set up shop there. He wears da olive green uniform dat looks like somethin a pest control contractor would wear. Maybe cAstro does spray for termites down there but he mostly plays on his computer. he aint got your typical computer. Nope, old Castro who is as old as old as Methuselah has a computer with 4 keys: command, control, delete, and execute. Yep, what we need ta do is learn a lessin from the 1898 war. We need to annex Iraq so dat we don't hav another despot cum to powr like what happened in Cuber. nuff said

RalphWiggum: let the bloke speak for Pete's sake. This bloke[sic] did not read my post carefully as I specifically said "massive civilian casualties." Furthermore, UK is "on board" so my post was not directed at them. I pulled out my western civilization history book and I can't find an instance where almost 3,000 UK civilians were killed in one single attack in recent years. The Battle of Britain (1940?) is the only thing that comes close. </span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Memories stay long in peoples minds and are passed down through generations, dpn't forget that<span id='postcolor'> Yep, us Confederate Southerners still hold a grudge at the 1861-1865 war. They have been proved wrong. <span id='postcolor'> Have they been "proven" wrong? Really? No offense, but some of you people in other countries are not privy to our information. "Honest Abe" Saddam has denied any linkage but we (the US) has evidence that they (Al Queda) are training in Iraq. This was reported a few weeks ago. They are training to hijack planes there. Iraq probably did not have a direct link to 911 but indirect links exist as well as direct links in supporting Palestinian suicide bombers. Saddam is a nuisance and must be neutralized--to use the military term. It's easy for these anti-US, anti-war countries to sit back and lick their chops and criticize us for neutralizing these threats but until they experience first-hand massive civilian casualties from an attack, they need to quietly sit on the sidelines and mind their own business. For example, India is against our war. Hypocities--oh brood of vipers! They fuss with Pakistan all the time over Kashmir and were on the brink of nuclear war about a year ago--over a desolate, nothing grows there, good for nothing, rocks everywhere, goat infested, cold barren tundra, and wasteland? Who the effing hell are they to criticize us? As I recall, the Aussies were not on board until their tourist attraction in Bali was blown to smithereens by terrorists. This is fact. They were wishy-washy until that happened. When you are attacked, it changes one's perspective. Opps, one more scathing thing that needs to be said. I have noticed that the anti-war protestors are trying to mimic the maggot infested hippies of the 60s with their "peace and love" themes. Was this a old Coaster's song? Take out the papers and the trash Or you don't get no spending cash If you don't scrub that kitchen floor You ain't gonna rock and roll no more Yakety yak Bomb Iraq Just finish cleaning up your room Let's see that dust fly with that broom Get all that garbage out of sight Or you don't go out Friday night Yakety yak Bomb Iraq You just put on your coat and hat And walk yourself to the laundry mat And when you finish doing that Bring in the dog and put out the cat Yakety yak Bomb Iraq

Yes, we are pissed off and are out for revenge (aka justice). I should note that the Iraqi army appears to be in complete chaos. Remember folks, the purpose of the military is to kill people and break things. They are doing a jolly good job at it so far. Good for them! Hurray for the Yankees and the Brits and the Aussie's. Adding markers problem

I searched and found nothing on this. I have my overview and briefing done, and they work. I am having problems with the markers. From the mission editor, I selected the "intro" map and inserted several markers and named and labeled them. I do have a start marker there. Everything is there and looks fine. When I save it to a single-player mission and run, the briefing is shown with the map but no markers are shown on the map although I put them there in the mission editor. The only thing that is displayed on the map at the briefing is my group. How do you get markers to show up in the briefing map?
  20. Tales_From_Topographic_Oceans

    Adding markers problem

Well, well. It seems intuition will not get you through the editor. Since the briefing is in essence an intro, it follows that the markers should be placed in the intro map. The "correct" way is very counterintuitive. Thanks for your reply.

    Adding markers problem

Let's throw the html briefing and overview out for a moment because I assume they are not needed as a prerequisite for the markers to be displayed in the briefing. In the "intro" map from the mission editor (the map that hides the groups, waypoints and units), I clicked the "marker" tab at the top right of the editor and inserted an arrow icon to display the enemy's advance. I named it "enemy" and in its text box, I put "enemy position." I put another icon on the map as "start" and named it "you" and put in the text box "Hold Position." I did not put any objective markers on the map because I have not gotten that far yet. Saved this to a single-player mission and ran it. Briefing opens up (with briefing html text) but no markers are displayed--only my group. Maybe I should not put the markets in the "intro" map but the "mission" map.

    Resistance discontinued

Yep. That's right folks. If you have not bought Resistance, you better do it now. I purchased Resistance back in October or November for $30. I was at Best Buy last night (USA), and they had 2 boxes of Resistance for $9, and they had a "DISCONTINUED" label stuck on both boxes. Glad I got my copy. This may be an old topic.

    Life too short error

Ok. go see my thread under Off Topic regarding Nvidia drivers. I fixed my problem by re-installing the PBO files that were getting the "data file too short" error messages. RES works but when I tried to open a custom mission I had made, crash. I deleted it. the official missions seem to work. beware folks. I had driver V 30.1 and just upgraded to 43.00 and it has caused havoc.

    Life too short error

I just installed NVidia Geforce Driver 43.00, and now RES will not work. When I put the CD and click start, I get an error that reads: data file too short and it lists a PBO file in the RES/ADDOns folder. Is there a fix for this or should I install my old Nvidia driver back?
