What I want to know is, in that report they showed a public school with computer games hooked up to exercise equipment and rock walls and other shit for phys ed. THEN, later in the show, they showed this broke-ass junior high school in Alabama I think? And guess what? that other school has all this shit, and this poor school was close to ACTUALLY CUTTING FUNDING for their junior high basketball team. Is there something wrong with this picture?? Its kind of sad that some people in this country are so well off that they can afford to lose sleep over trivial bull like DODGEBALL, while other people can barely scrape by for funding for a few uniforms, a few basketballs and a coach (who, btw, is the schools custodian). Good point Nopulse. Never did really think of it that way. But, still, these sorts of things are more about "He hit me first" than anything else, and theres no real point in trying to reason with it once its started. Either try and prevent it, or just go with the flow. BTW, the admin in question may not have been removed, but I think everyone involved got a better idea of who they were dealing with, and adjusted their actions accordingly.

Maybe the community does need to stick together a bit better. So post how you think it could be better. Unconstructive criticism does noone any good. However, I dont think anyone should not be allowed to post things of a negative nature. Noone ever said this board had to be a BIS love fest. Saying we shouldnt talk about the problems with the OFP community is like saying we shouldnt talk about the elephant in the corner of the living room, in the hope that noone will notice. So, to wrap up: if you think somethings wrong, tell people about it, but also tell them how you could make it better. If you want to censor people, move to Cuba or Fraghaus Forums (lol, Im sorry, just kidding, couldnt resist ). But you should never, EVER, assume that you DESERVE something. Thinking you are entitled to something you are not in fact entitled to is a big maistake to make. I wont lie, I was a little tweaked when BIS said they wouldnt just post their tools for any dumbass to use. But then I thought about it, and looked at some of the posts that people were making just because they were mad, and I figured it out. I wouldnt want to do ANYTHING for these ingrateful jerks, and here BIS is, politely putting up with our crap, and steadily making patches, working on addons, and looking over mods to make sure they are up to the standards that they set for OFP (which we all have agreed is bad-ass). So whats the weakest link in this picture? is it the developer, or the community? Its us, folks. (this is the part where I practice what I preach) So what are we going to do about it? First, I think we should all give more support to fan sites like OFPEditing center, Axleonline, OperationFlashpoint.cz, and many others. If you find out that they are a bit strapped for cash, be a pal and send em a few bucks to cover their web hosting bills. Second: Stop cheaters where they live. if a site has a trainer or a hack available for download, boycott it. Dont go to it, and tell all your friends not to go to it. post on forums about the website, and organize larger boycotts. Find out who runs the sites, and see if you can ostracize them from the OFP Community as a whole. which brings me to my next idea. Third: Form a confederation of major and minor dedicated servers, get to know everyone, maybe open your large bandwidth doors to some OFP tourneys, standardise your maps and addons so as to weed out inferior custom products, and share your lists of cheaters, so that other ded servers can see them coming. If we can bring the places that people play closer together, we can bring the people who play closer together. Fourth: Give BIS a little credit. Even if you hate their guts, in the next death threat you send them, just post something you like about OFP, and you would like to see more of. Even if the rest of your letter is crazed gibberish, BIS will see that in that one part a reason to keep dealing with us lunatics. Fifth: Mod responsibly. The people out there that have the skills and wherewithal necessary to mod OFP (and you know who you are) should realise that their actions could have serious consequences for other players. Even if you hack the config.bin with pure intentions, realise that someone out there can use all the hard work you have done to make cheats that will ruin the game for standard Joe-Gamer. We appreciate the work you do, but just remember you hold multplayer OFP games in your hands. I cant think of anything else right now, but if I do, Ill post those too. Also, anyone else from our COMMUNITY that wants to add to this, feel free to do so.

I guess you didnt actually read the threads you are referring to. The reasons this thing migrated to a public forum were set forth right at the beginning. Actually most of the real fighting has died down, and we are getting close to closing this thing up. It is just a game, but sometimes things are more than the sum of their parts; when you get competitive about something you run the risk of losing your perspective. By the way, it must be nice up there in that ivory tower, but the truth is, its easy to say "Just turn the other cheek" when its some stranger gettin nailed. I consider it a point of pride to be able to go to the mat for a buddy, and in this case it means arguing via keyboard; so be it. As always, noone is forcing you to read these posts, and besides, if you think a public feud isnt a good topic for a public forum, then obviously all concerned are operating on different wavelengths. If the moderators feel a thread is innapropriate, they will lock it, delete it, or edit it accordingly, thats why they are moderators. You say that these things dont solve anything? I disagree. Although it was done in a roundabout way, one of the threads you are speaking of uncovered a serious addon problem, and, by the way, cleared a certain squads good reputation. Finally, I would like to point out that people can say whatever they want, and other people can respond in any way they choose. One form of responding is just not responding at all. Thats right, you can just ignore something completely, if you so desire. Its a recommended way of dealing with forum fights, because, like dogfights, trying to break them up is pretty much useless, and can get you hurt at the same time. I suggest, instead of putting up posts like this, you just let it run its course, or be shelved by moderators, or just join the fray, because, lets face it, a good argument can be just plain fun Anyhow, thats how I feel.

Hell, they said they would release the modeling tools eventually, so I dont see what yer bellyachin about. And personally, I think its a good idea that for now they are screening any potential mods, because Ive noticed that alot of the custom skins and projects out right now look awful, and I dont want that sort of ugly crap perpetuating itself. You jackasses feel like BIS owes you something? cmon. They made the tools, engine, coding, everything, it belongs to them. Hence, they can do whatever the hell they want with it. Also, they have the right to sell those tools for a profit. this aint friggin Napster, guys. Occasionally you do have to pay for some things, and after only having to pay 39.99 for one of the best games ever, I dont mind payin a little more

I love this game. period. It has its flaws, agreed, but because of the open ended nature of the game Im surprised there arent more. BIS has released MANY patches since 1.00, and OFP is getting better with each one. BIS is continuing their commitment to their customers, if you ask me. Resistance looks badass, and anyone who doesnt want a brand new HiRes island is friggin insane. I want to see what new vehicles and weapons theyre going to bust out with next. Im not saying theyre perfect or anything... Ive probably cursed their names as much as anyone. But, with train-wrecks like WW2OL etc marching around pretending to be finished games, AND charging you 10 bucks a month PLUS the 50 dollar retail, just to beta-test their product, I consider myself lucky to have a: Complex, Beautiful, Fun, Hard, and Open game to play. Im gonna end on what I think should be improved. Netcode. If you can get up to 20 people on a server at once with playable lag, this would be the best tacsim, ever. Especially if the people on the server took the time to use team work. Other than that, I think the game is just fine, and even though there are cheats out there, I dont think they are as nearly widespread as you Fraghaus boys like to think. But, if Im wrong, and they are, then I definitely think they should do everything possible to make the engine cheat proof. I intend to pay my money to BIS, so that they can continue to improve one of the best games Ive ever seen. And guess what? Because a whole lot of people agree with me, this game is only going to get better.

Holy crap, now Im confused. All I know is that he uninstalled, deleted everything pertaining to OFP including addons etc., and it didnt work at all. We have gone through this on a few peoples servers, and nothing works. I am absolutely sure that he didnt mess up his game using cheats though, because he is a good guy, and, well, hes kind of a newbie when it comes to how OFP works lol. But hes highly motivated, and if someone can help me with this problem, all of you will have one more Warrior to worry about

I totally agree. We are tryin to bring in a recruit for the wing, but even with a fresh reinstall he gets a "modified" msg, and then crashes out of the game on the receiving data screen. Has anyone else had this problem?

If you have a 56k you are out of luck. OFP is unplayable with a 56k. My advice: call up your local cable or phone company, and ask them if they offer Cable Modems or DSL, respectively
