I went for it. Kept track of the stock online and saw that they were selling like hotcakes, so I stopped by the store before work today, and then I noticed they had an "open box" unit with a discount on top of the sale price... ...So in the end I got a $699 camera for $499 (CAN). As far as growth potential, I've read a few reviews that mention the camera is backwards compatible with just about anything Pentax has put out in the last 40 years as far as lenses, and these can be picked up dirt cheap at many pawnshops. Not sure about higher end cameras, but I'm at least assured a good selection of lenses. Gonna go mess around with it now .

Hey guys, I've wanting a DSLR for a long time, and today I came across this: http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog....&catid= been researching it for a little while, and it seems like a very sweet camera for the price. -Comparable to the Nikkon D50 -Can use AA batteries -Uses SD memory cards, which I have -No image stabilizer, but I have a tripod. -Wide variety of lenses. Just wanting some knowledgeable advice, should I go for it?

    recharging batteries

Eww, although you deserve credits for trying anything .. that´s gotta be the most disgusting statement in a long time on these boards (since toadlifes "last watched - granny pr0n" signature to be exact) Go, battery acid, go! It was actually 80yr old tortise sex. http://www.usbcell.com/ I'd get some if I had a free USB port... That just reminded me to fix my audiotracker.

This happened during the initial invasion, the video was just leaked now.

    recharging batteries

Yes, non rechargeable batteries may in fact recharge. However, they may also leak or explode. Thus we have these 'special' rechargeable batteries, which are guaranteed not to provide an impromptu fireworks display inside your home when you connect them to the charger. But it's your choice

    The Iraq thread 4

That has been the norm for all the recent friendly fire incidents. As for the pilots taking some of the blame, they did attack while there was reasonable doubt that the targets were friendly. After the first strafing run one says "he's hauling ass, doesn't look friendly to me. haha". However, I do understand the difficulty of visually ID'ing targets from the air, they were not certain what type of vehicles they were but they said they looked like ZIL's. I'm not sure a flag would have been easy to see or identify. At the end of the tape one of the pilots says they are screwed because the vehicles did have orange markers. Which again brings me to believe some sort of ground to air IFF is needed to prevent this sort of thing. *edit* Smoke could also be used to mask yourself from aerial attack could it not? On the video the pilots also stated seeing smoke after the first run.

    The Iraq thread 4

http://news.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30000-1250298,00.html You can watch the video here (No killing visible, image is blurry and the camera shakes a great deal while the gun is firing). My summary: - Looks like the ground controller is most responsible for this one, the pilots repeatedly mention orange markers on top of the vehicles and ask if there are any friendlies in the area. They are told there are none. - One of the pilots then states that the orange markers look like orange rockets, they apparently decide that the trucks are Katyusha style rocket launchers and attack. - They make a couple of strafing runs before they are told by the controller that there ARE friendlies in the area, they break off the attack and ask for the condition of the friendlies. They are told one killed, one wounded. - Both pilots become very emotional at this point and state they are returning to base. -A few minutes after they break off the attack, two new voices come on the air, one of them British, stating that A10's are running against friendlies, and to abort. My question - how feasible/expensive would be to implement some sort of data link/ ground to air IFF?

    Second Life

Tried it out a while back. Think it has potential, but the interface feels kind of clunky at the moment. As is, I may drop by if I'm extreemely bored one day, otherwise I have no need for it. However, i would not rule out it becoming much more mainstream if improved upon. I'm sure there were also people who said the internet didn't need graphics or images.

Nice pics sniper! I love the texture and warm colour. Love hurts: Somehow "I broke my D string during a palm-muted powerchord" doesn't sound as dirty as "I broke my G string fingering A-Minor"

That sounded really ironic to me. Or do you not think the internet also has an abundance of penis?

China destroys satellite with ballistic missile

I'd have to agree with a large number of people who believe it's heavily influenced by the Lavi, but yeah, there's always this knee-jerk reaction to dismiss any eastern as an aircraft as a copy of a western one - like the MiG-29's radar was rummored to be a copy of the F-18's AN/APG-65 or the F-15's AN/APG-63, when it's N-019 radar was a completely different system with a twist-cassegrain antenna. And then there were the Russian innovations such as the helmet mounted sights - which all the new US fighter's are incorporating, R-73 thrust vectoring, which we now see in the AIM-9X, ect :P.

This game reminded me of a 1980's Soviet anti-war cartoon, and sure enough, it's on the internet now 'Conflict' (no knowledge of Russian required)

    DEFCON: Everybody Dies

For the purposes of this game, Africa is a superpower. So is South America. Does anyone else feel like the AI Navy does not like to fight? I just wiped out Western Europe in a similar manner, and the whole time I came across (and sunk) only one of their subs. By the end of it there were only two cities left in Europe with a population of over 1 million (Krakow and barcelona), no military assets on land whatsoever, and there were still 45 unused enemy nukes somewhere in the ocean

    DEFCON: Everybody Dies

I like it! Just spent a couple of hours as the Soviets vs. Africa. think I did pretty well , every African city nuked at least one, only enemy military assets left on land were a radar station and one air base (started ignoring them when they no longer posed a threat), and didn't run into 80% of the African navy until the very end, Oh yeah - no Soviet cities hit...truth be told I have no idea where the hell I lost 300K in casualties...
