here's something I've NEVER seen modeled properly before in my years of flight simming - A properly working F-111 ejection capsule:
-
Here are some of the few pictures that turned out OK of the Notre Dame basilica in Montreal, even though I took over 100mb worth of pictures (the lighting inside was not too friendly to my camera, I might post some more later if I ever manage to edit them into something decent)
-
There is a big distinction here, IMHO - the sim does not revolve around assasinating a person, but around demonstrating the physics of different ejection seats. In the one scenario where the pilot dies, you see a plane beginning to roll while the RIO ejects, and then the pilot ejects into the water. You can change the scenario to see under what conditions the ejection may have been survivable. What if the F-14 had been equipped with Aces II seats instead of GRU-7s? This is a sim for people who would like to know just how different ejection seats operate. Seems pretty simple to me, and it runs fine on my 733MHZ machine. And yes, it is a beta.

If this is how things will be in the future, then all flight sims will become Crimson Skies.

dang, and I can't join this discussion because I'm packing to go to Montreal for the weekend. Oh well. My contribution: LMAO

For a 1km fall, it should be less than 20 seconds for a human body. Of course, that may feel like a damn long time.

Playing around with an early birthday present I got last night(Microsoft Digital Image Suite 10) Original: Artsy Edit: (background blurred and put through watercolor filter, edges of the dragonfly softened)

Love that pic! Man, I wish I had ANY sort of optical zoom, as it is I'm very limited to what kind of shots I can get in high detail. Anyways, here are a couple of more winter pics: *edit* Having too much Carlsberg makes it hard to type.
-
Winter fur? doubt it - the same day I took that pic there were some black squirrels on the same tree. *edit* and from what I recall, they weren't too happy with "whitey's" presence

Think y'all are going a bit overboard with this given that he likes his job and was merely worried about the principle of being illegally underpaid - which he isn't.

Well, you could drop out of school.... Minimum wage rates across canada Actually, this comes as a surprize to me. I never knew minimum wages for students were different, and that does stink. My first sumer job I earned  $9.00 an hour, and my first permanent part time job shortly after started me off at $7.15, back when the minimum wage was $6.85 (still at the same place and I'll be making $10.50 in a month ($12.10 on Sundays) - part of me really wonders why I even bother with college :P)

Yes, but when I was looking at them they werent pitch black like they came out in the pictures - you could see their eyes, noses, there were variations of shade throughout their bodies You mean like this? Plenty of those here too....
-
Tell me about it, I'm a Cuban living north of the 49th parallel....it's goddamned unnatural! I used to swim in the ocean every other day when I was a kid. Yep. When I took the pics I didn't realize they would come out looking so black. Maybe I should have fired the flash.

Thanks And I haven't seen a decent beach in half a decade - and havent swam in one in over a full freaking decade
-
Some winter pics Come in, the water's fine!

Go ahead and point it out. -"Animal Abuse" -"Pro-Americans, finally some normal people" -Linking depictions of George as a monkey to excerps from the Koran....and then going on about the conspiracy theorists in the crowd....bit of pot and kettle there. -"More America supporters. With 2000 idiots in the background" -his "50% of the signs had nazi imagery" statement is crap -Even feels the need to dismiss Communists as Stalinists, when most communists denounced Stalin after his death
-
Dang, looks like I missed the majority of the excitement

Well, I might be biased in this belief, but I don't think I am normally an asshole unless I'm pushed towards it . I don't get paid comission, my raises depend solely on how many hours I've worked, so I could'nt care less about lost business.Either way in 4.5 years I haven't had a single write up -so no, I'm not Randall from Clerks, I'm just not very helpful when treated rudely. While I usually do go for that approach - and really, didn't you just describe one form of asshole? Sometimes I just can't help but being a smartass - especially when incidences of costumer irateness and stupidity increase exponentionally - say this Holiday season.
-
Is it worth it? Sure is! Speaking as someone who deals with customers on a daily basis, I find it highly gratifying to be an asshole towards assholes - the more I enrage an unreasonably irate customer, the more I'm laughing inside. And then later on, I get to swap stories with my co-workers .
-
One of my personal rules is: Treat me like an asshole and I'll make sure I act like one towards you. I was by no means an angel as a teenager, but I never destroyed anyone's personal property or anything like that. Probably the most damage I ever did to the public good was when on one Halloween, with a group of friends, we took a park bench (putting it down and sitting & waving at any cars that were passing by) and bringing it to a buddy's basement. The real punchline was when we were struggling with it down the stairs, his mother was waken up by the noise and yelled "what the hell are you guys doing down there? You sound like you weigh half a ton!" We almost dropped the damn thing right there in a fit of muffled laughter. But I'd like to think I more than made up for my occasional mischief by all the volunteer hours I put in in highschool....and that was before "volunteering" became mandatory.

Kids Today Can there be any doubt that adolecents are the root of all evil? Sheesh! Â I'm reminded of one time when I was 17 and was sitting on the back of the number 18 bus with a friend of mine. The number 18 bus here in Ottawa is ridden mostly by seniors, and at some point, the bell signalling that someone wanted to get off went beserk "ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding...." Well, every single passenger on the damn bus turned around and looked right at us two in the back we both stared back for a few seconds and then I said "WHAT?!?" At which point the driver came on over the P.A. "Ah...sorry folks, the bell is acting up, so when you need to get off, just come up and let me know" and as all the senior citizens finally turned their gaze away from us, my friend yelled out "THAT's right! you blame the two punk-assed kids in the back!" Senior citizens these days Â

Great to see this thread's still going strong and picking up new interest, some great shots here lately . I see some people posting pics of their winter's first snow - Ottawa just got it's first significant snowfall today:
-
It was a slow day at school today, so between classes I hopped on a bus downtown to see Dubya's welcome here in Ottawa. Here are some pictures I snapped - since this is so political I'm keeping it out of the photography thread.

This is likely outdated, but in Vietnam it was PRC-25
