    Hurricane Katrina!

It could get even more surrealistic, but I kind of doubt this offer will be taken up. http://www.granma.cu/ingles/2005/septiembre/lun5/37reitera.html

WTF?! That looks like some fender bender! *edit* ...and....is it just me or is that a LAW? *edit again* Somehow I really like this one, it's got sort of a "We're in a hell-hole warzone but it's still a day at the beach" feel to it somehow

    Another London Bombing

Personally, I have to say under the circumnstances, I believe the police acted appropriately. Wearing a heavy coat, and refusing to stop - even if they were plain clothed officers you'd have to expect there to be plain clothed officers at a time like this...I would not expect any other outcome.

    The Iraq thread 4

No, I don't take everything I read at face value, but I do believe that sooner or later a withdrawl will take place. Unfortunately for the Iraqis it seems pretty clear the coalition of the willingly misled didn't know what they were getting into, and things will not get better anytime soon. Or do you still think the mission was accomplished and that the majority of Iraqi's want to shower their liberators with flowers?

    War against terror

....right..... And maybe Iraq's WMD's really are buried under the Eiffel Tower.

    War against terror

Looks like propaganda, rethoric, intended for internal comsumption of the population. Despicable as it may be, It's just for show, and it has become pretty obvious that al quaeda had nothing to do with Iraq until after the U.S. invasion

    War of the Worlds

Unless Albert is an alien bodysnatcher you´re adressing the wrong guy I will go see it anyway. I just love depressed robots LMAO Sorry Bals - Bad habit of mine to just be looking at the Avatars. You should have seen my face the first time I saw blackdog use "buddy Christ" as well.

    War of the Worlds

Just like it! Except there are no F-18's - I think you'll see some F-16's for a whole half second. The aliens this time around must have installed Norton, because I didn't see any snazzy Apple laptop saving the day The biggest military lesson from this movie -from the longest "battle" scene of maybe 2 minutes - Burning Humvee's travel a lot further than burning M1A1's Tom Cruise is just like Will Smith though, I swear

I suggest you go see a military flick

    War of the Worlds

Got to go to the premiere in Ottawa a couple of days ago, and well, I'm glad I saw it, and that I saw it for free. It wasn't bad (except for the blonde little shrieking machine Tom Cruise carries around the whole movie, after the first half hour I desperately wanted her to be killed off - no such luck, so you may want ear plugs), but it definitely does not live up to all the hype. Definitely worth it Albert! It roughly follows the first book, and except for the mandatory Hollywood-fabricated romance, it's a very good film. (and when you do see it, stay after the credits)

LMAO at the "Connection Problem" The bit with the hostages was oh so true as well. Shame the resolution was so damn low.

Eurofighter - Not such a failure.

This article really doesn't say much, and IMHO the author doesn't know much of what he's talking about. The Eurofighter is much lighter than an F-15, so it's no surprize it can outturn one - nevermind the fact that it was the strike Eagle and not the air superiority F-15C involved - it would have been more interesting to see it versus a late model F-16 for example. F-15's reportedly had trouble against India's upgraded MiG-21s in a recent excersize - doesn't mean that an upgraded MiG-21 is the fighter for the future. And then there's the fact that in real life the aircraft doing the bouncing would have gotten off the first missile shot.... *edit* and I thought these days America's best fighter was the F-22?

American medical students getting free schooling

Yes, my whole point with this thread is how ridiculous the embargo is, and how this particular situation is especially ironic - the only superpower in the world is benefitting from a tiny island nation in that people who would like to become doctors but would not be able afford it in the U.S, are getting completely free medical school there, yet the U.S. refuses to sell the most basic medicines to this country, and any company that does will have a hard time selling to the U.S. I knew about this school but the fact that Americans attend it is especially news to me. This article also compares Canada's health system to Cuba's...from personal experience, I can tell you, there is still a big difference. When I was 5 I was diagnosed with scoliosis, and from then on until I left the country I had physiotherapy twice a week. Once I came to Canada however, I was told it would not bother me till I was in my 50's, so I should "not worry about it till then". On the other hand, I remember once after a fight I needed a few stiches to my lip, and the hospital was short on painkillers, so getting the damn lip fixed hurt more than getting it busted up in the first place.
