If I wanted that game badly I could gate it at a second-hand computer store pretty easily and cheaply, but from what I've heard except for the obvious graphical improvements it wasn't as good as it's predecessor..... Besides I'm in a very tough college course and I'm trying hard not to spend too much time gaming/going out/having a life/ect

Newer planes of course are a lot more restricted...BTW those MiG-29's for sale are the earliest models (MiG-29A), and are stripped of any targetting equipment, armament, ect....anything that is "classified" is replaced with something else...what you get is basically the airframe and the engines, navigation tools ect....which would actually make it better at airshows since it'd be lighter than a standard MiG-29 (the export engines are also less powerful though). However, I remember reading about an American dot-com billionaire who was refused permission by the US Govt to buy one of these since they could still be considered weapons. But hey, if you're filthy f***ng rich and live outside the US (as long as it isn't Afghanistan, ect ), this could be a neat toy for you.

Lol funny how a lot of us seem to be the "flight sim type" and we all love this game...You might think this is sad but the two games I play right now are OFP and Su-27 1.5....yep I know it's dated but of every flight simm ive played for a while now it's realism has me hooked (before that it was falcon 3.0!...never got around to Su-27 2.0 or Falcon 4.0 though....oh well, when that new game comes out that is being made as a sequel to Su-27 2.0 (I forget now what it's called) I might upgrade my Piii and buy it.

Should have seen the surprized look on my face. Funny thing is, I managed to fix the thing myself with some superglue and a small metal tube, and it carried me for 2 months till next christmas I got a Logitech Force 3d, basically the same as the newer Wingman 3d only with force feedback....Anyways the Wingman is around $60 canadian, the Force was close to $80 I believe (it was a present), and their economy model is the Attack...I think I've seen it for around $30 canadian

Definitely....make the aircraft simulation less arcadish, improve the netcode for us poor 56kers, maybe a few new vehicles and weapons here and there and it'll be perfect in my books. But I prefer to blow the Yanks away

    Did you know...

lol this reminds me, I go play Delerium Tagball a lot with my friends (Like indoor paintball with little rubber balls instead of the paintballs). Anyway's it's played in a big dark maze with fog machines and black lights and blaring music (kind of like lazer tag only infinitely better because you know that if you shoot someone in the nuts they'll feel it ). Anyways, one of my best buddies from high school who I play with a lot is Albino, yes he's all white but like the rest of us he's smart enough to dress in dark clothing and he also wears a black baseball cap...lol one game his cap fell off and throughout the whole maze you could see this glowing patch of white hair frantically floating from place to place.

For the same reason the MiG-29 and Su-27 were declared by "experts" to be copies of western aircraft during the cold war. Why? because they looked similar to the F-14, F-15 and F-18...and now that the secrecy about them have been lifted it has become obvious that they are very different aircraft with many of their own unique innovations (IRST tracking, ability to perform maneuvers like the Cobra, ect). The fact is, similar problems will often result in similar solutions. What would be really surprizing is if two aircaft from the same era which are designed to perform similar functions looked nothing alike.

My old mouse died on me a couple of days ago (thing was like 5 years old anyway) and I just got myself an iFeel optical from Logitech....the wheel scrolls through the action menu, and playing with a force-feedback mouse (or even browsing the web/using windows) can be pretty funky

    Grenade launchers

As am I, but as a computer engineering student who's profs tend to be very anal about resource-efficiency, I can see why BIS made some compromizes....there were a few people complaining about the reloadable LAWs vs realistic disposables, as a part of the problems with the inventory. I just wanted to point out why I believe they were implemented this way, and why it really shouldn't be an issue when compared to the grenade launchers/Dragunov magazines, ect.

Rendering three separate disposable LAW tubes for each AT soldier, or rendering a single, reloadable LAW? BIS had to make this game as resource-efficient as possible. remember each island is a whopping 100km^2, and the AI is pretty damn advanced, so that also takes a sizable chunk of resources...and when you consider  how many AI units there can be on a map....you start to get the idea. The inventory system does need to be revamped, I think grenadiers are  grossly underpowered compared to real life due to lack of combat persistance, and I also believe the Dragunov snipers should be allowed to carry more ammo since their clips are smaller. However, the LAWs IMHO shouldn't really be an issue.

    Incredible

Y'know, I was going to stay the hell away from this one since I felt it really had no direct bearing on me, but after watching a thread grow to 19+ freaking pages in a matter of a couple of days....this is fucking insane. I remember Chickenhawk wanted a "mother of all threads"...looks like he got his wish. Anyway, IMHO this has been handled wrong all around. The mods made some jokes some might find distasteful. Oh how fucking shocking! PC is destroying the world I really think it is. I've shared chuckles at jokes like "Three jews walk into a bar - Oy!". Does that make me racist? I guess in the strictest sense you could say it does, but hey guess what? My ex-gf was Jewish, I'm half-Hipanic-half Slavic, my great grandfather from my mother's side was jewish, I have friends from all freaking races...I've had some latino jokes thrown at me by friends and I laugh it off with e'm and hit e'm back with a smiliar joke about their race. So the topic title "we are moderated by racists" was totally out line. On the other hand, banning everyone who pisses you off is the wrong way to go about the problem, really it stinks of dictatorship, I've lived under enough of those to know.  If I saw a topic title "Tovarish is a racist" because of some joke I told among friends, I'd call the poster a dumb fucking twat and move on. If I was a mod and the poster kept spamming this or any other thing...then by all means ban, but no one seemed inclined to ban Black Op before this, even if  he had been spamming. Now, after some of the comments that were made after he was banned, yes he should have been banned for those, as well as some other but hey, they are litterally begging for it now....but was the initial banning that kept this thing going, which was questionable due to the circumstances really necessary? ...And now we got people being banned left and right, half the mods are gone and we got this 20 page fucking thread that's nothing but bad blood.... To be honest It looks like this is sending the forum down the tubes, but there seems to be too much bad blood at this point for anything to be done about it.
