got the same problem here on the hardware tab it shows some devices (cd-rom, joystick etc) and two audio drivers : - creative sb audigy (ok) - legacy audio driver (???) -> this one cannot be deactivated, its properties show standard system device the dxdiag says all is perfect but still if I want to test hardware under voice tab (its the same test ofp preferences does) it gives this strange error message.

no, I never had a problem on this mission. after reaching the repair truck landing point, the cut scene was shown and after the auto-save the game started over with me in chopper in the air like before the cut scene. I don't know if you tried to go down or land, I didn't because it's not necessary. of course this doesn't help you in your current position, I think you will have to restart the mission and just stay on your same altitude when reaching repair truck. -
gosh! denoir, my highscore for that site is about 4 secs 5 minutes is a really severe punishment !!!

Heureka! Of course I installed the dynamic range sound addon, but there must be some error in their config file. After replacing the old bin directory it worked again... Sorry I didn't tell you about this addon, but I've used it since install and I wasn't aware of the bin replacement anymore until I took a closer look at my ofp directory... thanks anyway

hello all, why does my map show only coordinates in style ABx (x being a number) and not ABxy. this problem is new since I have installed ofp on my new computer (amd xp with asus geforce 3). the gfx adapter runs on 32-bit colors. my ofp version is 1.46 and I don't know if this bug happens on earlier versions too (and I don't want to test it). the only thing I know with my old P3 and tnt2 ultra I didn't have this problem. furthermore I noticed the menu captions of the mission editor are a bit oversized so they don't fit properly. has anyone of you encountered the same problem ? thx in advance

zooming doesnt help, btw the coordinates are truncated in mission editor too

hi folks, can anyone give me a hint (a hind would do also  ) or a walkthrough on the saving sergei mission. I play on veteran mode, and especially these 2 mi-17 are driving me nuts. thanks in advance

when connecting on a multiplayer game from gamespy, it sometimes (about 40 % ) happens that I end up in intro screen (without getting an error message like wrong version or session lost or sth). I know there are plenty of people who experience the same problem, but I am not aware of other games doing that. ok ok, dont flame me and tell me to connect via a.s.e. or entering a direct ip, gamespy is still a good option for finding a decent game. is gamespy causing these problems, and if so what can be done to minimize them ?

no, this would give a wrong version error. most of the times a second try works (when the host came back to staging room looking for us) -
there are also 'vets' that make mistakes in combat. if somebody rushes in veteran mode at you carrying an ak (supposing youre playing west) while the bullets fly around you, i am pretty sure you would get him down. and this is realistic too ! i dont own a ultra high perfomance machine, so i cannot immediately define if a soldier is friend or foe (say at about 100 m). the first things i look at is his weapon and his helmet. i am not a newb ! there are some people who find it cool immediately getting a weapon of the opposite side because they find it better or whatever. no soldier would do this in reality, because he knows that when he fires an enemy weapon all his team mates would immediately investigate where that sound comes from.

there are a few issues that ase doesnt cover (yet) : - pw games are not always filtered - in gamespy you got the option to ask host for pw - no rooms - one cannot always identify game type, in gs you can enter room and ask (and you dont have to start ofp to get an answer) - imo there more active games on gs i must admit i only had a few tries on ase, so i may still be wrong with the above. of course gs also has its disadvantages, but all in all i think gs is not as bad as everybody thinks, except for the ad-spamming :\ isnt there is a tool for this somewhere

what errors ? i can't complain of any important error messages.

the only thing i miss is when telling them to hide and then quickly rushing forward, they dont look for cover, they just lay down in plain field just trying to catch up and taking care of the formation. imo they should look for the next bushes or trees or whatever, like any human soldier would do before moving out. but i can imagine that this would be really hard to code (and it would decrease the game speed)

irl climbing to trees may be an option, but in ofp it isnt because the tree leaf is not realistic enough to give enough cover. i would say that climbing to trees in ofp would give the sniper a 200 % chance to a faster death, especially with these ai soldiers shooting at 600 m a cigarette out off your mouth.

3 main reasons for a computer to hang : - not enough power (especially new gfx boards like a lot of energy) - bad device drivers - bad ram

imho that report status isnt the problem. when a team mate dies it sometimes happens he doesnt get thrown out of the leaders' list, his numbers disappears but the player (sprite) remains. maybe got sth to do with the bird respawn (wild guess) ? so even if the player unwantedly calls for a status, because the leaders's logic sometimes calls it from itself, the game logic should remove that dead player completely from the team list. i can remember my first coop with new 1.42 : i was 2nd in team when suddenly our leader died. somebody (ai) reported it and so i became team leader. there was no bug to this point, but when another team mate died, i automatically called for status and them the player number dispappeared (but not his soldier sprite on the team list) and from then on I couldnt stop yelling that he is down. i am not 100 % sure that this is always the case when this error occurs, so if you got other experiences about it, post them here. hth and htgawffts (hoping to get a working fix for this soon)

what brand of cd-rom drive do you use ? is it a cd-r or just a cd-rom ?

and the most frustrating is that this is a bug that shouldn't have appeared in any version because it just kills coop fun. as i am a coop addicted, ofp lost 2 points out of ten of its gameplay rating for me

the radio bug was the first thing i wanted to check... and it was the first thing to notice when finally got into a game. sorry but there is no question about the testers work, it seems to me they were still on holiday.
