    OWP Buildings Mod

    Hi guys I have Simba's building pack but have seen a few videos with the OWP Civilian Buildings mod in them. I have been trying to find this but cant see it on armaholic or armedassault.info and google hasnt yielded a location. Please can someone advise me where I can download this from?     TrackIR Pros & Cons???

    I read this thread with interest as after seeing the Dyslexci videos and others I have TrackIR4 Pro bundle on my christmas present list and am really looking forward to it. Regarding the argument over FreeTrack v TIR, I would rather opt for the hardware version than build it myself (im lazy like that) but theres also the fact that NP have been innovative enough to come up with TIR and I think they deserve the support and recognition. Their success should also prompt for more and more games to offer support for TIR. Personally Id like to see TIR support on every FPS and vehicle sim game.

  9. I tried it and it works ok. It summons the Heli which then lands. I set it on a repeating radio trigger so once ive boarded the heli I can move to another place on the map using the same script but clicking on a different part of the map. Makes for a handy taxi Cheers for the script matey...

    SCUD - Nuclear Explosion

    Has anybody managed to get this working on MP so the explosion created shows on all clients? Is it a case of getting the server to execute the script instead of the clients or instructing all the clients to run the script when the server instructs?

    Shoot from moving vehicles

    This looks amazing. I have to admit to being disappointed with the fact you couldnt fire out of vehicles in OFP and it was one of the first things I checked out in Arma and was sad to see it wasnt implemented. The best example of this I have seen is in Joint Operations, players could walk around boats, inside helis, drive jeeps into helis, fire from side of littlebirds and so on. It also supported 150 player multiplayer games, day/night cycle, huge maps and so had many similarities with flashpoint. I hope BIS decide to introduce this in an expansion pack or something or possibly a patch but in the meantime if the community can get a working alternative and it can work in MP then it gets my vote. Well done lads...

    Tailrotor Failure Script ?

    Hi I created a simple mission in the editor where a heli flies overhead and hits a trigger which sets its damage to 0.8 and sets fuel to 0 I added an effect in the trigger so i know its being activated but the heli doesnt get damaged or lose fuel. I tried getting it to setdammage on my viewing character but that didnt work either I have the following in the On Act field in the trigger heli1 setdammage 0.8; heli1 setfuel 0; heli1 is the namer of the chopper Any ideas?

    Converting OFP missions to Arma

    Hi guys Back in the days of OFP I created a few long intense missions that my friends and I played co-op. Now Arma is here I am looking to convert some of these missions over from OFP. Before I start though I was wondering if any guys out there who have done it can give me a heads up as to the best way to go about it - ie should I start the whole thing from scratch in the editor or can I adapt the existing mission.sqm and description.ext files etc to give me a building block from which to start? Finally if anyone knows of a mech addon for Arma I'd be much obliged...

    Mech Addon?

    Hi guys Does anyone know if there is a mod for Arma that introduces a mech? I used the MTY Robot addon in OFP and though it looked quite cheesy it was great fun - especially as it was a two player vehicle and the missions were co-op. I'm looking to convert an old OFP mission I created that used this addon and was wondering if there is anything similar or if anyone knows if someone is working on one? I'd have a go at converting it myself but wouldnt know where to start to be honest...

    Mech Addon?

    Hi Forgive my Arma ignorance regarding what tools are available to modders at present and what tools were available to OFP modders at the time this MECH addon was released. I've seen people creating new models of jeeps etc for Arma and cant see how this particular addon would be much different as it contains no walking animations or anything and the weapons were the Vulcan cannon and heat seeking missiles. The custom items were the model itself, the interior displays and some sounds and obviously some coding as to how it all fits together. I didnt think this was beyond the community's capability at present but I am a noob to addon making so as I said forgive my ignorance in this area. Please feel free to enlighten me if you wish...

    Mech Addon?

    Point taken but how many reskins of a BMP or a gun can people possibly be interested in You only want to blow the thing up anyway lol. Besides the mission I created had a very real-world setting - Im not trying to re-create BF2142 or anything. In my mission the mech was a prototype being developed on Nogova at a base in the desert. The mission involved multiple objewctives including assassinating the inventor, a general in charge of the project and a communications tower before stealing the mech. Then it got a bit Robert Rodriguez as you drove the mech to the rally point and had to fight choppers, shilkas and tanks on the way. I had a nice surprise too in the form of another mech that came out of the lake. Finally when the mech reaches the rally point a chopper ferries a couple of scientists in who download the systems and specs then activate the self destruct. Everyone jumps in the chopper and then as the mech explodes with a nice nuke effect the chopper crashes and you have to make your way across hostile terrain using whatever equipment and transport you have at your disposal. In all it started off using stealth until you steal the mech then its all out guns blazing and then just when you think youre safe you have to sneak or fight your way back. The whole mission lasted about 3 hours and aside from the mech I used many other scripts - HALO drop in, airstrikes, and so on. Amongst the people I play with regularly this was a favourite mission as it has a great mix of realism and fun and is very challenging. Yeah I could put a tank in there instead or something but its not the same lol...

    Thanks NeilReed I've just upgraded the graphics card in my rig now and am no longer having hassles with running Armaso I am keen to convert some of the missions I did. Once completed I'll post them for those who are interested...
  20. Hi guys I have made a mission using snypir's excellent Support pack that allows airstrikes to be called in via mapclicks. However the mission I am using them in is MP and the napalm effect is not shown on the clients only the server. I found out that the napalm effect needs to be created on each of the clients too. Normally I would use a trigger to run scripts on both clients and server but this is called from a mapclick and not from a trigger. My question is how do I instruct client PCs to run a script that is running on the server so that I can see this effect on the client PCs?

    Hi Red, cheers for the reply. As far as I know the napalm effect is handled inside snypirs pack and the issue with it not showing on MP games is because of the command being used to create the particle effect only being run on the server. To my knowledge if I use the FOREACH command on this line so that instead of running it for the server it runs it for everyone in the group, not just the one. How could a global variable changed help this? I am familiar with the idea of setting up a global variable but once this is detected (by trigger for example) I would then need to run the foreach command anyway in order to create the particle effects on the client PCs.

    I may be wrong but I think adjusting Snypirs scripts so that when the napalm is created it is done for each client. As far as I know the ForEach command. I am uncertain however and was looking for someone to explain this somewhat.

    DXDLL 1.0 (not Geforce MX compatible)

    I think its the version of pixel shader that makes the difference. The one in GF3 is different to GF4 and above. Time to save up for an X800 methinks.
