Usually the video memory settings never had any real effect on my performance, then I discovered changing it from "Very High" to "Default" gave me a massive boost and removed the stutters.

Sweet, glancing over the readme I didn't notice, did you add new sounds to many of the reported vehicles / weapons still having vanilla sounds or is it purely a 'fixing' release? :) Excited anyhow!

I've seen two issues appear over the last few betas, mainly playing online co-op in smaller missions with a friend. 1) The squad AI seems extremely defiant. Usually assign a few AIs for my friend to control, as a basic meat shield and I know he's able to control those but they are just so damn uncontrollable. I see him issue a "regroup" command and one guy rushes to him, I'm on a nearby hill and the other AI is just stuck to me, just follows me around. Then all of a sudden they will break off and just head off to some direction when engaged, no matter what orders you give them. They seem to work fine when I'm in command ( I host ) but whenever he commands them and issues orders, they just seem so flaky. 2) Some weird issues with an odd flickering, like a big black graphical artifact that pops up for a second, then gone. The sun, when it's sitting on the horizon it'll go into full disco mode and just go super bright, then super dim and just pulsate like that - So an HDR issue. Also had a problem where something was lighting up an area and a bit down the road where the light did hit, there was a black hole basically, an outwards triangle where everything was PITCH BLACK, even the nvg didn't work in there. Still, excellent work on pumping these beta patches out, really loving it :D

Sound Of Anders (soundmod)
sethos replied to -=anders=-'s topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Hey Anders, As said, I love your sound-mod and there's just a few tweaks for this to be perfect. The M2, could you give that a bit more oomph? And the overall footsteps just seem a tad loud, especially compared to all the other sounds, can almost hear them over a firing gun at times. Would love to see these fixed, really appreciate your work mate :) -
ARMA3 needs better ACCESSIBILITY for players to meet, chat and play out of the box!
sethos replied to avibird 1's topic in ARMA 3 - GENERAL
No, it doesn't. This game does not need a quick-pass access card to the 'console crowd'. The community is way better off with it. -
Now I'm gonna swear; Holy fucking shit, I love you guys.
-
This would make ArmA about 300% better, frankly.

What takes the most time when designing missions?
sethos replied to nkenny's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
I'm one of those weird people who like to make detailed missions. So it takes me no time to come up with a decent scenario, the objectives and all that but I can spend hours just placing fences, making little FOBs, having signs, bonfires and trash standing around, stuff like that. It's a disease :P -
Yup, good list :)

Arma II crashes every time I change joystick sensitivity
sethos replied to feathers632's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - GENERAL
Had the same problem. Started messing with sensitivty on my X52 and boom, CTD. -
Yes, still feel they should talk to the guys working on ToH to improve it. I mean, they claimed the flight model was 'improved' in ArmA over Operation Flashpoint but let's be honest, it was just as shoddy, they just changed the axis pivot. So just share some experience and knowledge with the ToH crew and truly improve the ArmA model without taking it too far, yeah :)
-
Well, he said it, DCS makes study sims - Hardcore simulators. The fact that ToH has so many helicopters should already tell you, it won't even be close in detail and function, that's just fact, because DCS usually focuses on one aircraft and then goes all-out with details, function and usability. So it was just applying common sense. So he then questions a factual statement pretty much and then backs up my claim a post later. People sound like a new flight model will complete change ArmA. The current flight model is so arcade, it's almost cringe-worthy. Why can't we have a model that has more weight to it, more feel in the stick and has more external effects on the aircraft like torque effects, downwash and even basic wind effects. Borrow the basic's of ToH just to get some more feel into the helicopters, make them more realistic to fly. Make flying helicopters a more authentic experience and give people an incentive to train to become excellent pilots in the game, instead of just a few flight-hours and you can master pretty much everything. Nobody is calling for ultra-realistic controls that requires a DCS Black Shark like start-up procedure and having to go through a 500 page manual to keep the bird in the air and fire off one missile. Keep all the basic missile lock, basic take-off but make the core flying experience more authentic and difficult.

First you question it, then you agree to it, make up your mind.
-
You'll see.
-
Imagine if it actually took skills to pilot a helicopter in this game, instead of the current arcade model. Imagine if you actually had to train to become a skilled pilot. Imagine if you could implement combat helicopters in co-op scenarios without them dominating completely because of the current dumbed down model. Imagine if pilots in clans actually had some merit to their title, instead of the current model where every Joe could get into a helicopter and fly it, even with the keyboard. Imagine if ArmA being a milsim actually meant something other than infantry simulation. I had a dream ... Oh and people who think ToH will have some extreme DCS model need to think again. They moved towards the realistic side but it's not even in the same stratosphere at this point.

Here's the full GT version, stitched it together and edited out the intros. foNlTW6DHOo And what's up with the other version, calling it Full HD when it's just the GT version and doesn't even scale.
-
Yes, I'm playing a military simulator - Let's get rid of crummy driving and flying physics. Even if they do add that flight model to ArmA 3, I'm still getting Take On.
-
Did you add a sound for the currently soundless HK417 <Some version> I believe it was
-
Good chin LJ, great to see you roll with the punches :) Just keep up the good work. You really do make one of the finest soundmods out there but as you know, it needs a bit of polish and love. I'm anxiously waiting for that 1.32 release, so I can finally make the switch permanently. If you ever need additional Beta testers, do let me know - Available most days and I play ArmA every day basically, so I'd probably spot a thing or two. Just keep up the steam and you'll soon reap the rewards of your hard work :D I do agree though, you should definitely release smaller patches for both the errors and new / missing sound-effects, I'm sure people would appreciate that. Then do a 'complete' package, possibly 1.4 when everything has been ironed out :)
-
Thank you, sir :)
-
Is it possible to remove those loading screens included? Thanks
-
It'll be the best when it's actually a complete package, no vanilla or missing sounds left :P Can't wait for that day to arrive, then I'm back on board.

Only seen those secondary particle explosions after installing the new Blastcore on a Hummer I destroyed. Else I haven't seen them since, either they are toned down with about 99% or there's a bug stopping them from triggering.

Interrupted for me twice but third time was the charm.

ACE 1.10 (Advanced Combat Enviroment) for OA/CO
sethos replied to AnimalMother92's topic in ARMA 2 & OA - ADDONS & MODS: COMPLETE
Yeah, I can rebind my Self-interaction key just fine. Then I try binding the Interaction key to a key I know works, nothing. It just won't work, tried looking at explosives and stuff like that. I'll mess about with it, at least now I know what to do, just have to get the menu to work. Thanks :)
