Any chance you could give us more detail on the TweaksRus Drivers? I have a 7900 GT OC and Nvidia hasn't updated their official driver in ages. Would love to try something new. -
Indeed. Glad to see another Harry Harrison fan
-
Cool, just like Blackwater except they get bonus for murdering civilians.

Perhaps it would be better to let everyone know what vid card you have, what driver you had, and what driver fixed it. -
Despite the rampant disgust of BF2...

...and Joint Operations had both Coop and Capture and hold/secure and advance. I have found that Evolution has both types of players and it really depends on the server. I have had some great coop games with people that worked as a team playing Evolution. Any time you join a public server it really is a roll of the dice. -
As much as we like or dislike reviewers they have an affect on the revenue of a game. Game publishers have been caught bribing reviewers for better scores including providing the reviewer with hookers even! BIS didn't buy enough reviewers like the major game publishers do! Send more hookers

Lol, I had that the other day. Some moron wanted to take my Little Bird to fly side missions in Evolution and was mad at me because I was shuttling people to attack cities. At first he wasn't clear why he wanted it and just kept demanding that I give him the helicopter. I asked why and he kept demanding it. Then he swore at me and threated with his gun pointed at me in the cockpit "I am this close to shooting you in &%^$&@ head". It was the oddest thing! -
I imagine it was someone from a certain idiotic clan that is infamous for cheating and being tards. I know that an individual that is from that clan (this person was banned on this forum) showed up on the =IMO= server and was tking like mad. I imagine that it is fairly easy for them to keep changing their player ID# so banning would have limited success

Yes, of course mod and map thieves don't have websites of their own to host from and they don't know how to post links in forums (sarcasm). -
There has been a shift in PC games lately and I don't think the game reviewers have responded to the change. Now companies like UBI release glorified beta tests to the public and the game gets finished with patches depending on it's revenue. If the game does not make a lot of money the company dumps the product and the customer is left with a buggy unfinished game. Reviewers need to get in the habit of clearly specifying what version of the game they are reviewing and they need to have follow up reviews after the game is patched. Patches have to be a factor in the writing of the review because it is just reality of the PC game market. For instance one of my favourite games from 1999 was Swat 3 (no snickers please). The game did not include multiplayer upon its release and was added later in patches. By the method the industry does reviews this gem might have been overlooked by many people. The real problem with the 1UP review for Arma I think is that there are two sorts of gamers. The type that gets in a helo and immediately types "GO GO GO!" and then there is the type of player that wants to check that everyone is aboard and that they have a plan of action before the helo lifts off the ground. The first type of player has A.D.D. and the other type is patient and is willing to wait for the "payoff" of fun. The reviewer is obviously the sort that takes Ritalin. In no way do I consider myself an OFP/ARMA fanboy. At best I consider myself a "very casual" fan. I enjoy the games a lot but I certainly am not a hardcore expert like soooo many on this forum. The game definitely deserves a much higher score.

Got employees on a payroll? Until cheques are being issued to employees it seems silly to take a name like a proper company. So many mod makers do that but is a rather silly practice since a lot of them never complete their mods. I don't mean to single you out but it is a personal pet peeve, lol. I see a lot of people do the company name thing. BTW you can have my wife

Why is it impossible to find this game in Canada?
SlipperyJim replied to oblisk's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
Unfortunately so many retailers are not that interested in PC gaming at all. -
This is going to sound petty but it always drives me nuts when one guy working for free uses a company name like "Sidus Interactive" or "BlackWalk Productions". You aren't part of an incorporated company or a business. You are just a guy playing on his computer while his wife sits watching TV next to him. Sorry, my insane rant is over, lol. Thanks for your efforts regardless!

It is completely disgusting to modify KilJoy's hard work after he asked people not to...and then host the file for all to download and use! Kiljoy kindly asked everyone to WAIT until he was done making the map. Show some basic respect!

@ 169th_Ice: Just because you can steal doesn't mean you should. As I said before thieves are masters at justifying their actions so they can continue to do what they want: steal. -
Wouldn't it be great to fly a huge mission like Evolution with a helicopter like a Chinook Guns A Go-Go ACH-47A? Sure the time period is all wrong but who the heck cares? In terms of cooperative gameplay it would be great to work together in this massive helo. I would love to fly Vietnam era helos in the Arma environment. http://gunsagogo.org/ http://www.chinook-helicopter.com/chinook/gunsagogo.html

Kiljoy has asked for this map NOT TO BE modified UNTIL he has finished making it. Anyone not following his simple request in my opinion is disrespecting the hard work he put into the map and is just a common map thief. In my years of making small (and lame) mods/maps for various games it always amazed me how thieves could rationalize to death their actions. No matter what they will come up with an excuse to justify why they are allowed to steal. There is no valid excuse. If a community map/mod maker makes their work open source then that is fantastic but also if they decide it is not public domain then that is great too and should be respected. Respect the talent in the community or lose them. On a more positive note I see that Kiljoy has been interviewed on Sahrani Radio. http://arma.valuenet.nl/SahraniRadio/index.htm Direct link to MP3: (82 megs - His interview starts at about 50 mins) http://arma.valuenet.nl/radiost....i_8.mp3 (I love all the accents, lol) Update: I just finished listening to the interview and Kiljoy speaks out about this very issue of people hacking changes to his map. Good interview. -

I am so naive, lol. Remember how people used to dump weapons on the ground with earlier versions of Evolution to get around the ranking system? I didn't know that people were still cheating by placing the weapons inside vehicles for their friends. Very creative thinking, lol. Ah well, at least with this method it doesn't bugger the game with extra polygons of dumped weapons at the base. -

2nd Beta 1.07.5157 feedback thread
SlipperyJim replied to INNOCENT&CLUELESS's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
This is sort of off topic but I am so tired of seeing people with 8xxx cards pandered to. Nvidia only releases drivers for them now and it has been over 1 year since they released a driver for anyone with a 79xx card. My video card is less that 1 year old and cost me over $400 and it is abandoned by Nvidia. Hopefully BIS isn't following the same route and ignoring us too!! My 7900 has texture and LOD problems too with Arma! -

I completely agree. However there would be an issue trying to separate a good pilot with bad luck from an idiot pilot who likes to do barrel rolls to impress the chicks. Perhaps a compromise would be that after a helo loss you can't fly for 30 minutes unless you repair a helo. Helos lost at sea are a real pain since they can not be recovered. It is a troublemaker's wet dream. All a troublemaker has to do is gain enough rank to fly all the choppers out to sea and suddenly everyone is hoofing it to complete the map. As you suggest they really need to respawn after a period of time. -
Got my copy at EB Games in Toronto.
-
You must be talking about a Best Buy in the USA because in Canada I spoke with an employee and they said it wasn't showing up in their system at all. I confirmed it when I got home by searching their online website. The local EB near me in Toronto has a few copies so my wife has offered to pick it up for me tomorrow

Okay so we have all played Evolution to death. Time to also start work on Evolution Reloaded in which you have to clear all the other towns not included in the first one More! We demand more of this goodness!
