climatic changes, what do you think about that?
Sc@tterbrain replied to Sennacherib's topic in OFFTOPIC
Not only has the UN declared "global warming" real and caused by humans, now it's blamed for war and genocide! http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn....57.html It's not an ethnic conflict pitting Arab militias against black rebels and farmers. Â If it were not for global warming, the Arab nomadic herders would never have been forced to take up arms. Â Its not their fault they slaughter each other...its all because of my SUV! I'm sure someone is hard at work finding climatic changes in the middle east, eastern europe, and parts of asia. That way all of these ethnic conflicts can be blamed on that darned boggey-man named "global warming"! My pride at being a tree-hugger has turned to shame as the cause of caring about the environment has been soiled. Â Environmentalism has become every bit as corrupt as the forces they blame pollution for. Stop being a suker. Â Stop following and take a moment to question your own side. Â Maybe then we can meet in the middle, away from all the bullshit and work on sensible change. -

Here's your logic. ******** are increasing. Â Temperature is increasing. Â Thus, ******** are causing global warming. Insert "greenhouse gasses" and you have the argument for one side. Â Insert sun spots and you have the other. Â And now for a dose of reality. Â Insert "ufo sightings." Ufo sightings have been increasing over time. Â Temperature is increasing. Â Thus, Ufo sightings are causing global warming. You can't PROVE I'm wrong. Â You can't prove I'm right. Â Same with "greenhouse gasses" or sun spots. Â Lets review. Â You can't prove ufo's are or are not causing global warming. Â You can't prove humans are or are not causing global warming. Therefore, we are still in the stage of THEORY. Unless you want to abandon the scientific method. The end -
Maybe the tools are being delayed so publishers and devs can sell you the addons they left out of the original release... I mean, if BIS needed money that desperately to release the game in such a terrible shape, who knows what else they are ready to do to get more cash. I uhhh...don't know if this counts as good news...or news that worries me. Hmm. Did the tools come out before resistance? If not then I guess one should expect them to follow soon after the patch? I really hope there are more goodies then a truck with a mg, a retextured UH-60, and some Blackwater stereo-types. Wheres the SLA gunboat, Chinook, M2A2,...etc. As was already said, this can go very well..or quiet badly. As for now its more "wait n see." Oh my how there will be wild speculation for the next 50 pages of this thread!

ArmA 1.08 makes me want to throw up
Sc@tterbrain replied to insomnianshadow's topic in ARMA - GENERAL
I don't see anything wrong with my post nor with the way of its composition .... If you enjoy being treated like a brainless consumer than it is your problem .. anything I wrote is based on facts that passed days of extended testing and comparing.... I prepare myself very well before posting and any word of the inital post has been chosen with care..... Your choices are limited. 1. Make bland statements and they will be ignored. 2. Throw out your harsh judgement and watch out for the defensive replies. When it comes to "complaining," is more effective than sharing it in these parts. Which leaves you 2 options. Quit playing ArmedA, or stuff it all inside until the next disappointment casues an outburst. It suks to come to this realization after waiting so long for ArmedA. I do believe that BIS is trying to make this work, but like you I see an uncertain future. No point letting it eat you up. Yes we both invested a small sum on the game, and many hours. However it is BIS who really have their butts on the line. I hope that they feel enough pressure as to be properly motivated. I'm numb over the whole deal now. Either they will salvage it or i will move on when another entertainment opportunity arises. -
It's good to be asking such questions. However I plead to you not to find the answers here! The best course is to buy some books with a historical perspective. You don't really have to go back a thousand years. Begin at about the early 1900's and work your way up to the present and try not to become overwhelmed by the complexities. You will likely find nothing in the responses that come other than uninformed opinion. So take it all with a "grain of salt." Your real information should come from academic sources. This is what I did, and am still doing. There really is no single resource i can point you to that "explains it all." Best of luck, never stop learning. Always question the source.

Amen. But slapping on a bumper sticker, complaining about gas prices, and boasting about how "green" you are in your comfortable climate controlled home with a fridge stocked full of food.... ....wasted words. Once again what began as a good idea has become a corrupt mess. Can't mention the evil word that caused it in this thread. -
Players lose you games, not tactics. There's so much crap talked about tactics by people who barely know how to win at dominoes. Brian Clough Strategy requires thought, tactics require observation. Max Euwe He who is prudent and lies in wait for an enemy who is not, will be victorious. Sun Tzu

This endless circle of debating INCONCLUSIVE science has created enough hot air to melt my tolerence for SUV driving ex-hippies with Greenpeace bumper stickers that toss lit cigarete butts out their window. Debate aside, those sticking to their guns with the "prove it" position have my respect. Â I'm sure there are many intelligent, well meaning people who believe that humans need to wake up and change thier ways. However, the lemmings who ignorantly and blindly regurgitate the bandwagon line are RUINING the ability to take it seriously. Â I have to pay my local garbage collector to take away my recycleables...so that they can sell them and make more money? Â And when some homeless guy looks thru my trash to take my cans and scrape up money for a beer or some food he is arrested? A real problem needs real answers. Â Currently most of the solutions for "saving the planet" are a joke...a joke that someone is profiting from. Â But ohhh all those evil scientists who are doubting it are just on the oil barrens payroll. Â If the oil tycoons have so much control, how is it that my state government wants to make it ILLEGAL to publicly say that "Global warming is NOT real." Â Good solution. Â That will magicly turn the greenhouse gasses into butterflys with good vibes. I don't crap on my kitchen floor. Â I understand the sense of the concept that we need to reasses our ways as to limit the negative impacts we have on this planet. Â As Luis Black said, "Of course we can create clean energy, we have *freakin* IPODS for god's sake!" The funny part is the assumption that we actually have the power to "destroy the world." Â Mmm no. Â We have certainly developed the power to make it a quiet place for a few thousand years. Â But some other species will eventualy become dominant and sift through our bones thinking "I can't believe these ugly *%^#'s were top of the food chain." Judging from history, mother nature is one moody.....if we wake up and "save the planet" or not, history will repeat it self and the planet will scrub, shake, wash or burn off whatever is disrupting the balance. Hmm look at that new housing development being built in a flood plain...flood. Too many people...plague. You've been on top for a while, how bout giving the chipmunks a turn at being in charge....comet. -
I love how this story has been totally manipulated and misrepresented. I first read about this in 2005, and at the time it was rumored to be a joke.  It was rather amusing but not nearly as "controversial" as its being played out to be. The concept was to create a "non-lethal" chemical weapon.  It's purpose was to disrupt enemy morale and unit cohesion. "the US Air Force Wright Laboratory in Dayton, Ohio proposed a gay bomb research project (at a modest $7.5 million), which was rejected by the Pentagon in 1994." It didn't even go beyond some guys crazy concept. This is an old story that some have pretended to be outraged by...while struggling not to laugh.  I wonder how hard the guy who first called the concept the "gay bomb" is laughing while telling friends over a beer  "I swear, I thought that up!" "The document also included many other off-beat ideas, such as spraying enemy troops with bee pheromones and then hiding numerous beehives in the combat area." Just as whacky in concept, but not nearly enough to get your panties in a bunch over.  You can read the report yourself here. How dare the US military create a bomb that takes the advice of anti-war protestors" "Make love, not war"

Thanks for the info. Â Question for people with 1.07 beta: Leave it or delete the beta folder and shortcut BEFORE installing? EDIT** Saw on another thread that you should delete the beta first. It did not change any files so just get rid of it and the shortcut.

Jukka's Airstrike v.1.0
Sc@tterbrain replied to JukkaN's topic in ARMA - MISSION EDITING & SCRIPTING
Very cool. Dose the airstrike marker appear a set distance from the soldier ordering it? What I mean is could a strike be ordered from a greater distance such as by using binoculars on a tank...so you wouldn't have to get so close to it. Again, very cool. -

I see you got served by bullshit estimations Who knows if the patch comes out today or next week.... or maybe the next week, though I wouldn't count on it. Patch takes time, testing patch takes time... It's really one big joke over here... everyone aims at BIS complaining they released it too early and have not tested this correctly and that correctly, but when we are waiting for a patch we'd rather have them just hurry up and give us the patch... Bit weird aint it If they still have it in testing, then I don't think BIS can give a sane estimation. Also, if they give an estimation, and can't make it, we get a huge flame thread probably; It can never be enough for the customer LOL. Thanks for taking my question seriously, and giving me a serious reply. It was a lot to ask for in this thread.... I've been "king complainer" about my issues with the game, but the hand wringing in this thread over the patch has been crazy. Thanks Maruk for giving us an update. Figured I should say something positive after all the bitching i have done....
-
I mean this quite seriously... How long does it take to test a patch? I assumed from the discussion on this thread and others that the patch release was "iminent." It's been a while since I became moderatly excited about the comunity finnaly being united... but as I see from checking this thread...everyone is still just talking about it. Apparently I incorrectly expected that the patch was on the verge. So I am hoping for a "realistic" estimate, if that is even possible. Preferably from someone with experience in the field, not just guesswork. I ask because I am about to switch ISP's and am hoping to time my outage correctly. :(L)

Well that pretty much sums it up. If you want it, then build it. For me it really comes down to not "what" but "who" I play with. If you find yourself getting shot in the back because someone wants the chopper more.... ....find a new server.

climatic changes, what do you think about that?
Sc@tterbrain replied to Sennacherib's topic in OFFTOPIC
You make a statement like this then you claim others are only falling for "propaganda." "i saw on tv..." You are the epitome of what is wrong in this debate. Â You are the same type of person that would have screamed "the sky is falling" and the the earth is going into a freeze at the first earth day. Â All because "someone said so." If someone tells you "what is" and dose not direct you to look at the information at hand, its because they are making the assumption you are too stupid to think for yourself. Quoting something you saw on TV proves that they are right. Red Kite I don't agree with your position completely, but I have respect for you and your argument. Â You provide information and expect that people will analize it to compare it with the information and views they already have in their knowledge base. Unfortunately for many thats a bit too much to ask for. Some have rebutted Kite's view and data by respectfully contributing data of their own to consider. Â To that I say BRAVO! Â That is how a debate works. Â For those that have contributed some interesting information to read, and thus expanded my overall knowledge on the topic, thank you. To those that spew idiodic opinion as found through their TV remote, shhhh. -

OK mate! I'll let you guys go on beleiving the greatest lie of the century! Good luck! Â Meanwhile I'll stick to scientific facts and my own research and intuition! Kind regards, Red kite! I sure hope you don't use the same arguments in your research Well at least he can provide DATA supporting his claim. Where is your "proof" to the contrary? Aparently your smarter than then the researchers studying this, so enlighten us so we can all jump on the bandwagon. "Nu-uhah" is not convincing. I have a feeling your one of those who use CFL (compact fluorescent light) bulbs. Have you broken one recently? -
Ingame, water doesn't affect the firing capabilities of weapons. I know that, I was wondering how it is in real life. I cant immagine a pistol or rifle to get wet and still shoot properly. Depends on the weapon. MP5s for example will fire even in water I believe. Most weapons can actually fire submerged. Â However bullet velocity is severly dampened by the water. Being submerged in water will keep any gun that I know of from being fired a second time. Â Semi-automatic guns use gases and springs to chamber a new round, not a process that works in water. (If anyone knows of one that can do it pls let me know, I would love to know how they were able to make that work.) Here is a video that contains the new HK 416 (based on the M16) that boasts amazing reliability. Â In the video the weapon is removed from being submerged in water and buried in sand and immediately fired. Â (2mins into the vid) Future Weapons, Episode: "First Strike," featuring HK 416 Ok, on topic... Why are the ai starting IN the water? Simple solution would be to put them in a boat?

But I hate this thread! Â Well having entered the topic graveyard, end of discussion for me. I really prefer to aviod this thread. Having read the laguage itself and being enlightened by Shin radien, I am "less" worried about this. Thanks for your input. My suspicious nature will still have me wondering what ways it can be misused.

I hope you are wrong, for both our sake. Â Thanks for the heads up on this movie, the traliers at least have me wanting to go see it. I don't remember "Saving Private Ryan" being very family friendly, so maybe there is hope. However, there were no "Saving Private Ryan" toys either. Â If I see a Transformers movie Happy Meal toy, collectors cup, or breakfast cereal...I will share your worries.
